Billie Piper has confessed to stealing memories from all the sets she has worked on.

The actress, who is currently promoting her starring role in the Netflix film Scoop, confessed on The Jonathan Ross Show that she has no problem getting props and costumes.

‘I take things from the set, I see things, I take them.’ she admitted. “Lots of things, rings, jewelry.”

Among her belongings are some racy items from her time on hit ITV2 drama The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, as she said: ‘I’ve got a whip and some underwear.’

But it’s her Doctor Who souvenirs that really shocked presenter Jonathan, as Billie admitted: ‘I took a lot of stuff out of the TARDIS, the center console.’

Billie’s latest project is the role of Newsnight producer Sam McAlister in the anticipated Netflix film Scoop.

The film dramatizes the infamous 2019 interview between Prince Andrew (played by Rufus Sewell and Emily Maitlis, played by Gillian Anderson).

The interview was described as a ‘car crash’ and on November 20, 2019, a statement from Buckingham Palace said Prince Andrew had been suspended from public duties ‘for the foreseeable future’.

In January 2022, Virginia was given the green light to sue Andrew for unspecified damages in a civil court in New York.

Doctor Who fans have criticized the BBC after a huge change to the sci-fi show was announced ahead of the highly anticipated new series.

After the Ncuti Gatwa was unveiled‘s first full run in the TARDIS was due to hit screens on May 11, it has now been confirmed that the show will no longer air in its usual family-friendly Saturday evening slot.

Instead, the show will now be released on BBC iPlayer at midnight, presumably in the afternoon and evening in the US, after the show partnered with Disney+.

But fans have slammed the ‘shameful’ decision, claiming show bosses had ‘contempt’ for British viewers and ‘prioritised’ those on the other side of the Atlantic.

On X, formerly Twitter, someone wrote angrily: ‘So the UK fans are now second rate to the US. The US gets to watch in the late afternoon/early evening, while UK fans have to stay up late to avoid spoilers?! That’s really bad’.

While a second said: ‘I love pandering to the American public, I love Disney taking over (this is a lie, I hate it)’.

And someone else commented: ‘I’m an American and I think it’s insane and disrespectful that Doctor being broadcast at midnight in the UK.’

While another asked: ‘You don’t want British viewers??? Soon you will realize that this is a big mistake.’

As another fan typed, “As an American I hate this. Doctor Who is a British show and Britain should have the best timeslot. This midnight thing is bullshit.”

Disney Plus now has international distribution rights to the show, while it remains exclusive to the BBC in the UK.

And last year, showrunner Russell T. Davies assured fans that Doctor Who would still remain the same show and that nothing would change after it became a co-production.

Russell, 60, explained in an issue of Doctor Who magazine: ‘I know people are naturally concerned about American producers having notes on things.’

‘Well, you don’t have to. They give excellent notes.”

Russell added: “And I’m here to tell you that you haven’t seen a drama on British television that didn’t have American endorsements in 20 years. Everything is a co-production… it’s really normal.’

Ahead of the celebratory episode, titled The Church On Ruby Road, Ncuti revealed he wants to bring his ‘black beautiful self’ to the character, when asked what will be different about his incarnation of The Doctor.

He said: ‘It’s such a difficult question to answer because the role of the doctor is everything anyway.

“He’s an explorer who’s been around for a billion years, so they have so many quirks and complexities and anger and joy and they’re full of a lot of emotions.

“So to choose what else I would put forward is a very difficult question to answer. I guess myself, my black beautiful self. I bring my blackness.”

Ncuti will be the first black actor to take on a full-time role as The Doctor, after Jo Martin briefly played a version of the character in 2020.

One of the game’s leading orthopedic surgeons is sounding the alarm about pitching injuries – citing the advent of the sweeper and the power change as major reasons for the spike.

Dr. Keith Meister, the chief team physician for the Texas Rangers, said teams are making the problem worse by emphasizing pitchers’ performance over their availability.

“Unfortunately, these front offices live more in the moment than with a longer, broader term vision,” says Meister. “There is a way to control this. What if a player doesn’t have a WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched) of 0.8? What if he has a WHIP of 1.1, but he can play 162?”

Meister, who pioneered the hybrid elbow procedure that combines traditional ligament reconstruction with the addition of an internal brace, said surgical techniques have changed significantly over the past decade in response to the development of pitching.

As teams placed more emphasis on speed and the like, injury list placements for pitchers rose from 241 in 2010 to 552 in 2021 before declining slightly each of the past two seasons, a Major League Baseball spokesman said. The number of days pitchers spent on the IL more than doubled over a slightly longer period.

A hyperfocus on performance often starts at youth level. Many pitchers experience problems before they ever reach the majors. The number of pitchers in the top 10 rounds with a history of elbow reconstruction increased from six between 2011 and 2013 to 24 between 2021 and 2023, the league spokesman said.

Meister, 62, said he repaired about 230 elbow ligaments last year and is “way ahead of that pace” this year. Shohei Ohtani threw more sweepers than anyone in baseball from 2021 to 2023 before undergoing his second major elbow procedure. ‘We always said: if you only get one TJ, you’re good. Then it was: you get 10 years out of one. Then it was seven to eight,” Meister said. “Now guys break down into three to five, depending on who they are, the stuff they have, what they throw.”

The game therefore seems to be balancing on a dangerous edge. Pitchers are throwing more breaking balls than ever before. They’re also throwing harder than ever in the history of the sport. The sweeper puts tremendous stress on the inner elbow, Meister said. The change in force, as Meister calls it, also puts excessive pressure on the arm. “And to throw these pitches,” he said, “you have to squeeze the crap out of the baseball.”

Years ago, Meister remembers hearing the late Johnny Sain, a former Major League pitcher and independent pitching coach, say that when a pitcher holds a ball properly, he should grip it so that he can throw a raw egg without to break. It.

Today it’s the opposite, Meister said. Pitchers apply a “death grip” to the ball, essentially preloading every muscle in their arms. When released, these muscles lengthen acutely, which is known as an ‘eccentric contraction’. According to Statcast, the percentage of sweepers thrown has increased from 1.3 to 3 to 4.3 percent league-wide over the past three seasons. The Rangers, the team that employs Meister, hardly throw on the field, as reported by the Dallas Morning News. Meister said the current nomenclature to classify pitches is actually insufficient. He photographs his patients’ grips and has seen four or five different grips for both sweepers and switches.

Shortly before spring training, Meister shared his concerns during a Zoom call with two Major League Baseball executives involved in injury prevention, Kevin Ma and John D’Angelo. The session was part of a study the league is conducting on throwing injuries. The league has conducted about 100 interviews, the spokesperson said, from doctors and athletic trainers to independent researchers and college coaches to club executives and former pitchers. Once the investigation is complete, the league expects to form a task force.

Not everyone in pitching research and coaching agrees with Meister’s belief that spin is more problematic than speed.

“A sweeper is just a curveball with a different grip,” one pitching coach noted, adding Research is mixed on the relationship between grip strength and spin speed. “And guys don’t mess up their changes to get this move. For both fields they use the seams to make it move differently.”

Glenn Fleisig, biomechanics research director at the American Sports Medicine Institute, also expressed doubt that sweepers are a cause for greater concern.

“We haven’t studied sweepers in the biomechanics lab per se, but we have shown in a number of studies that curveballs and sliders are not more stressful than fastballs,” Fleisig said in an email.

“Therefore, I have no reason to believe that sweepers are a greater risk factor for injury than other breaking pitches or fastballs. Science points to three major risk factors for injuries: effort (speed is an indication of this in pitchers), amount of pitching and mechanics.

At least the caveat to research by Fleisig and others that focuses on the risks of speed is that a study by Driveline Baseball showed that the elbow load per mile per hour on the field is higher for secondary fields such as switches and sliders. So a pitcher who throws his slider as hard as his fastball will actually put more pressure on his elbow.

It may not be a coincidence that Jacob deGrom, who throws his slider as hard as some pitchers throw their fastballs, has struggled to stay healthy. The higher the speed, the greater the risk, regardless of which pitch is thrown – and what speed is used in the competition has risen almost two miles per hour since baseball began publicly tracking it in 2007.

Many pitchers, who consider injuries almost an occupational hazard, hardly seem to care. Advances in “things” research, which attempts to value motion and speed separately from outcomes, show that harder breaking balls are better breaking balls, almost across the board. Furthermore, frequently injured pitchers often sign big contracts based on the quality of the equipment, not their durability. So, who’s going to tell a pitcher not to be like deGrom? Who’s going to advise someone to avoid throwing a slider like Justin Verlander’s breaking ball from the 90s?

Erik Neander, president of baseball operations for the Tampa Bay Rays, whose team lost three starting pitchers to season-ending elbow injuries in 2023, said finding the optimal intersection between performance and availability is a challenge that extends to youth baseball.

“Because of the investment in the player and the person and the care you put into it, it’s really hard to see someone get hurt and lose the opportunity to play,” Neander said. “How we can balance that with giving us the best opportunity to compete and succeed at the Major League level is a very difficult balancing act that we are obsessed with. We want nothing more than to find a better way to do this that will help them succeed.”

It’s not happening at the moment.

Meister said an analyst at one club told him that the average Major League career is now less than three years for all players and just under 2.7 years for pitchers.

“They’re like NFL running back numbers,” Meister said. “Cynically, given the ownership side of things, they will never have to pay a lot of money to any of these players. Forget about them becoming free agents. They will never even qualify for the ARB.”

Meister said for a time he believed the league was comfortable with a “next man up” mentality. That worried him; only so many weapons, he said, can pitch at the Major League level. But lately he’s been encouraged by the league’s efforts to find solutions.

“What I talked to MLB about is, look, we have all this performance data. We also have all this health data. We need to combine these two metrics,” Meister said. “I’m not going to sit here and tell you to never throw a sweeper or never do a hard changeup. But at some point you have to say, “Okay, if we see a pitcher throwing the pitch more than 15 percent of the time, the odds of him sustaining a shoulder or elbow injury increase tenfold, whatever.” ”

A return to the art of pitching could be one way to address the problem. Neander said that while teams know things are critical to getting major league hitters out, “the ability to locate can make up for an awful lot of ground for any shortcomings in things.” But for now, pitchers generally rely on throwing every pitch as hard as possible, knowing that will yield the greatest benefits.

When talking last year about the effect of kids throwing curveballs hard before a certain age, Alex Cobb of the San Francisco Giants was succinct.

“I ripped up tons of curveballs in my little league game, then I went home and threw the football after the game because I was the quarterback too,” he said last year. “I was throwing as hard as I could all the time. Maybe you shouldn’t listen to me, because I’ve undergone every surgery known to man… but I’ve also had great successes.’

The Grammy winner, 31 – whose mother Tish was accused of ‘stealing’ husband Dominic Purcell from daughter Noah – also took to Instagram to celebrate the video dropping on Thursday. 

Earlier on Tuesday, the cover art for the track – which was originally slated to appear on her 2013 Bangerz album – was released. 

The beginning of the three-minute clip kicked with Cyrus tapping her foot to the beat of the song while standing on a spacious, yet monochromatic set. 

She flaunted her toned frame in a fitted, black and silver minidress that contained a sparkling fringe. 

The stylish outfit was held up with thin straps that wrapped around her shoulders and the singer paired the dress with open-toed, black heels. 

Her locks were teased and combed back away from her face, allowing the strands to flow down past her shoulders in light waves. 

Miley could be seen dancing and grooving to the song while singing the lyrics, ‘I could be your doctor/And I could be your nurse/I think I see the problem/It’s only gon’ get worse.’ 

She then began moving around the set while twirling the fun tasseled hem of the dress and revealed the corset details in the back. 

‘Lemme work it out/Lemme work it out/Let lil mama work you out/You wanna work it out/You’re my lover/I show you sympathy,’ she also belted out. 

The video then cut to a close-up of Cyrus as she donned a blue, fuzzy jacket as well as large, flashy earrings. 

Shortly before the chorus, Miley sang, ‘I feel like working it out, yeah/If that’s something you wanna do/Yeah, I feel like working it out/Baby, if you want me to.’ 

The clip jumped back to the songstress sporting the black and silver minidress in a brighter space while surrounded by two other versions of herself.

The camera then cut to Miley back to her first ensemble in front of a black backdrop as a fan blew her locks away from her face.

As she dove into the pre-chorus, the beauty had a blast by jumping up and down while wearing the blue outfit. 

The music video concluded with Miley continuing to groove along to the catchy track before the clip cut to black. 

Both Cyrus and Pharrell Williams jumped to Instagram on Thursday to reveal that the video officially dropped in a joint post. The caption read: ‘Doctor (Work It Out) OUT NOW @pharrell.’

Social media users flocked to the comment section to express their excitement over the release of the song.

Earlier this week on Tuesday, Miley shared the glam rock inspired cover art for the collaboration with the record producer. 

The track – which was initially slated to be included on her 2013 Bangerz album – was heard playing at Louis Vuitton’s runway show during Paris Fashion Week last month, which was captured in a clip uploaded to X, formerly known as Twitter. 

In the cover art, the songstress could be seen striking a pose while looking directly towards the camera.

Her voluminous locks flowed down around the star who donned a fuzzy, blue ensemble as well as flashy earrings – an outfit she ended up sporting in the music video. 

The song was slated to appear on the Bangerz album in 2013 – which contained other hit tracks such as Wrecking Ball, We Can’t Stop and Drive.

Relatives of the woman who live in Goods Shed Road admitted her to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital, hours after she returned home from the cremation ground late on Monday evening.

According to reports, the woman belongs to a poor family and suffered over 50 percent burns on February 1 when a fire broke out in her house and she was admitted to the same hospital.

However, when the hospital authorities referred her to another medical facility, her husband took her home due to lack of funds. She has been struggling with her life ever since, family sources say.

“On Monday she didn't open her eyes and it looked like she wasn't breathing. We thought she might have died. We then informed others in the area,” said Sibaram Palo, her husband.

Without consulting a doctor or attempting to obtain a death certificate, he took the 'body' to the nearby cremation ground in Bijipur in a Berhampur Municipal Corporation hearse.

“The pyre was almost ready when she suddenly opened her eyes. We were shocked at first, but when we started calling her, she responded. It is a miracle,” said Palo's neighbor K Chiranjibi who accompanied the family members to the cremation ground.

The local corporator was informed and the same hearse was used to take her home.

She was later admitted to hospital again.

The doctor was recently convicted of four charges of sexual assault following a three-week trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

British-Indian sexual abuse doctor: In a shocking and disgusting incident, a GP of Indian origin in south-east England has been found guilty of sexually assaulting three women under his care, with one of the victims battling cancer.

The doctor, identified as 47-year-old Mohan Babu, a former GP at the Staunton Surgery in Havant, Hampshire, was recently convicted of four charges of sexual assault following a three-week trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

He has been released on conditional bail and will be sentenced at the same court on April 12, reports The News, a Portsmouth daily.

The court heard that the assaults took place between September 2019 and July 2021 and that the youngest victim was a 19-year-old woman.

All three women were targeted at the premises of Staunton Surgery where Babu worked with his wife, a GP at the same clinic.

Jurors were told numerous complaints had been received against Babu and he had been repeatedly warned about his behaviour, which included touching victims inappropriately and making 'creepy' comments.

The Crown Court heard five other women, including a receptionist at his former workplace, complained about his 'overly familiar' behaviour, but no criminal charges were laid following their complaints.

Prosecutor Miranda Moore KC told the court Babu targeted “vulnerable” women after joining the operation in April 2018 as a locum doctor, someone who replaces another doctor on leave.

The first complaint about Babu's behavior was reported in August 2019, 16 months after he joined on his wife's recommendation.

Prosecutor Moore told the court that between May and August 2019, Babu personally consulted a 57-year-old woman who was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in June 2019 and has since died.

Citing the woman's case, Moore told the court how Babu exploited his profession to conduct unnecessary and invasive examinations, make lewd comments and physically abuse patients.

A patient seeking treatment for knee and hip problems said Babu hugged her and asked for her phone number.

An investigation followed and it turned out that many other women were complaining about Babu and asking for a new GP to replace him.

He stopped working at Staunton Surgery in July 2021 and denied all seven charges against him.

He was found not guilty of three offenses of sexual assault against a further two women.
