Celebrity Juice star Rufus Hound is engaged to his EastEnders actress girlfriend Sally Hodgkiss.

The comedian and TV star, 45, took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday to announce the news and paid tribute to the Superman Requiem star for transforming his life.

He wrote: ‘Over the past two years, @sallyhodgkiss has redefined how completely loved or seen I ever believed someone could make me feel. We talk and feed each other in a way that is almost unbelievable to me. Last night I asked her to marry me.’

Rufus described the moment: ‘We had the privilege of participating in @theimprovathon @WiltonMusicHall, a show in which brilliant, erudite, playful, thoughtful, beautiful sleep-deprived people repeatedly spoke of love, devotion and joy and demonstrated the amazing magic that happens when such people do that.’

He said: ‘Sally walked down for her final bow. As she spoke – a poetic, beautiful final flourish – the universe seemed to shout at me that the time – bizarre as it may be – had come.

‘While the audience applauded her, I took the stage next to her. Without saying anything, I acted as if it was unlikely that I would be able to speak because I was completely overwhelmed.

‘Then I dropped to one knee and she looked confused – this would be a strange turn for the characters we were playing (siblings as they were). It wasn’t until I said her name that she realized what was happening. Some people took pictures.

‘She said yes. My kids are freaking thrilled, my ex congratulated me on the news, my parents were beside themselves, and my best friend Steve contacted a special Wedding Robot for validation.”

He concluded by writing, “Anyway, as reckless as it feels to be giddily happy in public (without it being because of the sinking of migrant boats or the removal of murals from centers for refugee children), so am I. We are. Everything is better with her. She is magical. And soon I will be her husband.”

News of Rufus’ relationship came to light last June when he spoke about his new love on Twitter after splitting from wife Beth Johnson. declared ‘no one has ever loved me as much as she does’.

Rufus married Beth in a ceremony in Las Vegas in 2007 and together they share son Alby and daughter Hilda, before eventually splitting in 2020.

But now he has moved on and has found love again with former soap star Sally.

The actress appeared in EastEnders as Steph in 2019 when her character worked as a waitress at Walford restaurant, Walford East.

He shared a slew of snaps from their time at Glastonbury via Twitter, as well as a gushing tribute to declare his love.

Writing: ‘No one has ever loved me as much as this woman and the best part is that she is all amazing.’

“Being her boyfriend is a blessing and she is definitely the best person I didn’t create.”

Before adding: ‘She always makes everything fun and good. She is sunshine and kisses and laughs at the same time. It was the BEST time’.

While Sally said he was the ‘best person’ she had ever met.

The actress, who performed stand-up at the festival, has also appeared in an episode of Casualty and numerous stage productions.

In October 2020, Rufus shared a poignant post in which he claimed that he and his estranged wife will “always be best friends” despite their divorce.

In a statement, he said: “In April, Beth and I made the sad decision to end our marriage.”

‘We will always have great love and respect for each other. Even though we’re divorced, we’ll always be best friends.”

The couple have two children together, Alby and Hilda, and he concluded by saying: ‘As always, our family will remain our first priority.’

During his time on Dancing On Ice in 2021, there were calls for him to be axed after historic tweets from the star containing racist and homophobic insults resurfaced, it is claimed.

The sun reported at the time the comedian was told he ‘wouldn’t be kicked off the show’ after old tweets from the star surfaced in which he used the word ‘r****d’ in 2011, which Ed Sheeran was referred to as a “gay gentleman” and tweeted racist comments including the n-word in 2012.

A source claimed on the website that ITV was hypocritical towards Hound – after axing I’m A Celebrity star Jack Maynard in 2017 after tweets appeared in which he made racist and homophobic comments.

A source told the website: ‘Dancing On Ice have made their position clear and although Rufus’ tweets have been quietly condemned, it is not currently seen as an offense requiring his removal.

“It seems like there’s one rule for some, and one for the other. After Jack was removed from I’m A Celebrity due to the same type of tweets, it was believed Rufus would be told to resign.

“But it has been made clear to those working on the show that they are behind him.”

He was eventually forced to quit the show after testing positive for COVID-19.

Led by Reverend Ruth Farrell, the congregation heard tributes from his film director son Sam Lavender and musician Rick.

On departure to the churchyard, the Dad’s Army theme tune was played on the organ, to remember his time in the comedy.

The Birmingham-born actor was well-known in the village of Woolpit, with many residents attending to pay their respects.

Alfie and Ian performed together at the Royal British Legion concert produced by Live Nation and the BBC back in 2015.

Lavender revealed he would take his cast-members’ secrets to the grave just months before his death.

He told of how the show’s iconic cast were so close they shared secrets with each other that they ‘never told their wives’.

The actor admitted that he once promised co-star John Laurie (who played Private James Frazer) that he would never divulge the secrets they shared.

Lavender told the We Have Ways of Making You Talk podcast: ‘I talked with John [Laurie]  for so many hours. He said, ‘There are things I’ve told you I’ve never told my wife, or my daughter. You must promise me you must never tell anybody yourself’.

He went on to gush about his fellow co-stars and recalled filming as ‘great fun’ 10-weeks every year with ‘wonderful people who became great friends’.

Lavender also revealed that the cast were shocked with the show’s success after the first series originally failed to find an audience.

The post announcing his death read: ‘We are deeply saddened to hear the passing of the wonderful, Ian Lavender.

‘In what truly marks the end of an era, Ian was the last surviving member of the Dad’s Army main cast.’

Lavender, who was born in Birmingham in 1946, was twice married. His first wife was actress Suzanne Kerchiss in a union that lasted from 1967 to 1976, and the pair had two sons Dan and Sam.

From then on, he lived happily with American-born Miki Hardy. The couple married after 16 years together in 1993, following Lavender’s diagnosis with bladder cancer, which was successfully treated. He also survived a heart attack.

Outside of acting, he was a keen supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and chose a claret and blue scarf as part of Pike’s wardrobe.

Frank Pike, Arthur Lowe as Captain George Mainwaring, John Le Mesurier as Sgt. Arthur Wilson, John Laurie as Pvt. James Frazer and Arnold Ridley as Pvt. Charles Godfrey)

Lavender had only recently graduated from drama school and had just one previous TV appearance to his name when he was cast in Dad’s Army, in stark contrast to the rest of the cast – who were comic veterans.

He was earning £9 a week during a six-month stint at Canterbury Rep when someone came up to him and said he looked stupid enough to do Pike.

‘I was a complete beginner and I suddenly joined what was probably Britain’s most experienced team of character actors,’ he said.

‘I was in a state of shock finding myself suddenly among so many great actors. When the moment came for me to speak, that funny voice of Pike just came out in a moment of panic.

‘Since then at the start of every new series it has been one hell of a job trying to conjure it up again.

‘But Private Pike took me from obscurity into the TV big time. I could never have achieved that if I hadn’t learned to say: ‘Ooh Captain Mainwaring, my mum said even if the Germans come I mustn’t catch cold.”

The acting gig was only expected to last for eight weeks – but the show’s phenomenal success meant it endured for the best part of a decade.

Attracting audiences of 18 million, it ran from 1968 to 1977 and saw Lavender become a household name.

As Pike, Lavender was a comedic stooge in the series, frequently berated as a ‘stupid boy’ by the troupe’s Captain Mainwairing, played by Arthur Lowe, although the other members of the reserve army behaved more warmly to him.

Lavender was key to one of Dad’s Army’s funniest moments where he had performed a song that called Hitler a ‘twerp’ in front of German forces.

The Nazi captain says his name will also go on a list of people he will take revenge on. Asked what it is, Captain Mainwaring urges ‘Don’t tell him, Pike’, accidentally revealing his name.

His bungling soldier routine in the Home Guard comedy brought him fan mail from all over Britain – especially from women who wanted to mother him.

‘I get letters from schoolgirls and middle-aged ladies who want to mother me. I miss out on ladies my own age,’ he joked once.

Lavender’s closest friend and mentor amongst the cast was Scottish actor John Laurie, who starred as the gruff undertaker Frazer.

Offscreen, the pair would often chat and tell each other jokes, a skill Lavender learnt from Laurie.

‘If I could choose one member of the cast to survive it would be John,’ Lavender told the Telegraph in 2018.

‘I loved him, actually. He was naughty, he was impish and he suffered no fools.’

In retrospect, Lavender suggested the part of Pike had put limits on his career, once telling The Independent: ‘I’ve certainly been typecast, but nobody expects you to come up with that character.

‘People don’t want Frank Pike, but they do expect you to be funny.’

After years of service in the show’s fiction seat of Wilmington on Sea, guest-starred in many television series and also took to the stage. He treaded the boards with Dustin Hoffman in The Merchant of Venice and also appeared in Sister Act: The Musical.

Outside of Dads Army, his biggest impact on the silver screen was as Derek Harkinson in EastEnders from 2001 to 2005, and again from 2016 to 2017. Initially the boyfriend of Christian (John Partridge), Derek became firm friends with the show’s matriarch Pauline Fowler (Wendy Craig).

He starred in 240 episodes of the BBC One soap in total.

Lavender was the last surviving member of the Dad’s Army cast. Clive Dunn, who played Lance Corporal Jones, died in 2012, while Bill Pertwee (air raid warden Hodges) died in 2013.

Arthur Lowe died from a heart attack in 1982 and John Le Mesurier, the long-suffering Sergeant Wilson, died the following year.

Lavender made a cameo appearance as Brigadier Pritchard in the 2016 Dad’s Army film, which starred Toby Jones and Bill Nighy.

In the film, The Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison played Private Pike.

LEOPARD print is back with a vengeance – and fashionistas are loving it and getting on board with the trend.

It’s a wonder EastEnders’ Kat Slater didn’t rise from her faux fur wardrobe to rejoice when Dior unveiled its spicy revamp at Paris Fashion Week.

Models stormed the catwalk in the French design house’s bold autumn/winter collection, including polka dot print split skirts, statement berets and tailored two-piece short suits, left,

Leopard print has been popular in Hollywood since the 1930s, when handsome actor Johnny Weissmuller donned furry pants for Tarzan The Ape Man.

It was wild, it was spicy, and women wanted to make it their own.
Radiated refinement

Everyone wanted a piece of the pattern.

Actresses like Bette Davis added the sassy print to their wardrobe.

In the 1940s, Elizabeth Taylor took it one step further and wore a spotted swimsuit for a photo shoot.

Since then the hype has never really stopped.

Flash forward to the swinging sixties, when Dior scored rich and famous fans Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, who stepped out in their glamorous, spotty faux fur and gave ladies the power to make an exotic and sexy statement.

Unfortunately, blockbuster The Graduate added a messy edge to the high-profile trend.

No one wanted to look like a trophy wife – and yet the style persisted.

The world’s sexiest woman Ashley Graham stuns in leopard print dress during wild night out with Irina Shayk in Paris.mp4

But there is a fine line between chic and shabby.

No one dared to say “That Don’t Impress Me Much” to Shania Twain’s enchanting song in the 1990s.

And while Mel B could get away with rugged, stained knee-high boots, we’re not so sure about the army of Spice Girls fans who wore them in their local area.

TV soaps lowered the appeal even further, with EastEnders’ Pat Butcher in loud shirts and Bet Lynch chain smoking in her leopard faux fur coat on Corrie.

The great debate continues over whether the trend is messy or tasteful, but you have to admit there’s a bit of zig-a-zig-ah to it.

And if you do it right, you can look fantastic, as model Kate Moss has proven time and time again.

The supermodel’s style has exuded refinement for forty years.

In 2019, she turned heads at Paris Fashion Week in a metallic spotted dress.

Clearly designers have taken notice, as animal prints have become increasingly popular on the catwalks in recent seasons, with subtle, understated looks inspired by Hollywood’s golden age.

And celebrities are following suit. Over the past year, we’ve seen superstar Jennifer Lopez, 54, rock a blindingly spotty, figure-hugging number from Valentino, while Kim Kardashian got her claws in head-to-toe couture from Alaia.

Rosamund Pike, Halle Berry, Selma Blair, Winnie Harlow, Daisy Lowe, Irina Shayk and Myleene Klass have all also given their safari spots their seal of approval.

Meanwhile, Sofia Vergara has kept her spot game strong since her breathtaking portrayal of a real-life Colombian cartel boss in the Netflix series Griselda.

But as jungle prints trickle onto the high street – with leopard-themed Adidas x Wales Bonner samba sneakers flying off the shelves and high street stores serving up the polka dot patterns – it’s a tightrope between looking stylishly spotty or a bit frumpy.

However, no one can doubt that the spots are back. . . fur real.

ROARSOME…BUT HOW DO US MORTALS BEAR IT?

By Tracey Lea Sayer, Fashion Director

WHEN a trend like leopard print has been around for as long as it has – think Jackie Kennedy in the 1960s, Debbie Harry in the 1970s and Kate Moss in the 1990s – you know it will never really go out of style.

Tracey on a night out in the 1990s, at Vivienne Westwood

It lies dormant for a few seasons before designers dust it off and bring it back.

Given my 30 years of working in fashion, you would think I have a wardrobe bursting at the seams with leopard print, but no.

I’ve only ever owned a leopard print bikini, a vintage 60s jacket and a Vivienne Westwood mini skirt, so I can understand if you’re panicking that leopard print is back and difficult to wear – because I am too .

So let’s make this simple. There are two ways to wear the trend this season.

You either go for the mafia woman aesthetic: a big, striking leopard in a sexy, tight-fitting dress paired with big earrings and even bigger hair.

Or if you just want to hop on the bus and go to work, you can be a much more minimalist big cat of 2024.

If you’re a leopard print novice, maybe start small.

Leopard print is a real statement, so a good tip is to wear it on the part of your body that you want to draw the most attention to

Tracey Lea Sayer

Try a pair of leopard print ballet flats, worn with wide cropped jeans and a cute cardigan.

Or add a leopard print cross-body camera bag, perhaps over a short trench coat.

If you’re braver, try going half and half. Half printed, half plain.

A leopard print blouse looks great with neutral, black, beige or white wide-leg trousers.

Or try cool jeans with leopard print, which gives your outfit a Scandinavian touch.

And remember: anyone can wear this trend, regardless of size or age.

Leopard print is a real statement, so a good tip is to wear it on the part of your body that you want to draw the most attention to.

If you love your bust, a leopard print blouse would look great.

There is also a clever trick with the size of the print.

If you’re petite, larger prints can drown your frame, so go smaller, while if you have a fuller figure, larger prints will accentuate your glorious curves.

If you’re really brave, you can go from head to toe.

I love the idea of this luxurious print for a special occasion, like a birthday. Leopard on leopard will definitely catch your eye.

And forget everyone who says you’re too old.

Leopard is an eternal print and age is just a number.

The reporter immediately corrected himself and smiled at the embarrassing blunder.

Viewers watching from home also found the incident funny and made fun of Downie.

Another said: “Excellent.”

A third wrote: “I haven't wanted to say he hasn't done that for 8 weeks. 😂

And another commented: “Would have been better with Ian Beale.”

Ahead of her return to Walford later this year, Hayley Minn looks at how even the Kardashians have taken a leaf out of our favorite cockney carrot top's book. . .

HISS-STERIA

Jennifer Lopez, 54, was completely enamored with Bianca's snake print leggings, which she wore during a gym session, even keeping the acid green theme going.

Fortunately, Jenny from the Block knew better than to leave it to B from the Square to pull off the matching sequin jacket.

STRIP OUT

Kendall Jenner , 28, had no problem putting on a pair of zebra print pants to hang out with a friend.

Luckily, she got some tips from big sister Kim Kardashian, 43, and decided to ditch the hoop earrings and clashing leopard-print sneakers and tone it down with a black puffer jacket that Bianca would be proud of.

Having already opted for Bianca's must-have puffer jacket, Love Island beauty Megan Barton-Hanson, 29, even went for the extra length of a Croydon facelift.

While the Walford favorite wore tracksuit bottoms, Megan completed her look with cargo trousers.

THINK PINK

Not only did Bianca beat out Kim Kardashian with the pink dress, but long before Kris Jenner came along, there was Bianca's bossy mom Carol Jackson, who many would say was the original mom.

We wonder if there are some deleted scenes from The Kardashians of the whole family hanging around, watching Dirty Den serve Angie with the divorce papers on Christmas Day?

When world-class supermodel Gigi Hadid, 28, says Bianca's fluffy marble-print sweaters are in fashion, then they are in fashion.

FIND THE DIFFERENCE

Walking on the wild side in leopard print is something that Sienna Miller, 42, and Bianca clearly both enjoy doing.

Dancing On Ice fans jumped to Ricky Norwood's defense during Sunday's episode, complaining he was 'stuck' to his routine.

The former EastEnders The 40-year-old actor is said to have left training this week after just 15 minutes after getting into an angry argument with his professional skating partner Annette Dytrt on Thursday.

Viewers said they weren't surprised that Ricky was miffed when they took to social media during the show, after the former soap star performed in lederhosen for what Ricky described as “a German folk remix” of the Village People song YMCA.

Shouting 'oh, come on' as he was awarded his points by the judges, Ricky looked disappointed despite scoring 24 out of a possible 40 overall, his highest score of the series so far.

He received a score of six from both Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse, 6.5 from Jayne Torvill and 5.5 from Christopher Dean, with Christopher telling him, “You had a taste of Bavarian dancing,” while Ashley said he was dressed as a 'style icon'.

While someone else wrote: 'They got Ricky screwed up there! That was the strangest music they ever played there.'

Someone else wrote: 'No wonder Ricky lost it this week because he was given this foam to dance on.'

While another show may respond: 'Ricky is a good sport with his attitude. Well done. Don't let the jury bring you down! #DancingOnIce At least you can skate without holding on to your partner for dear life!'

“I feel like they did Ricky dirty,” someone else wrote, while another viewer noted, “The routine wasn't much and the music was awful but Ricky is trying his best to get better and he's skating alone. '

Someone else compared him to former Love Island star Amber Davies, writing: 'I thought Ricky deserved a higher score, he did a lot of skating on his own – I appreciate lifts take some work but Amber could barely skate in comparison .'

It comes after it was reported that Ricky left rehearsals this week after a row with his professional skating partner Annette.

A source said The sun: 'Ricky tried to work on his attitude, but Annette became frustrated because he didn't understand.

'He felt like Annette was treating him like a child and was clearly frustrated by her lack of patience.

EastEnders actor Max Bowden was caught telling fans he was 'so bloody excited' to get out as he filmed some of his final scenes for the BBC soap.

The 29-year-old soap star, who was axed from the series after four years, was filmed by a fan holding him back as he left the set in a clip obtained by the Sun.

Max was spotted by fans after filming at Elstree Studios, Borehamwood, as he shot his character's exit scenes, which will air in the spring.

During the clip, Max told the Sun: 'Anyone listening to this audio will hear clearly that this is not a foul-mouthed rant. I talked about my excitement for the future and what's to come.'

Max's contract as Ben Mitchell's player was not renewed after he reportedly received warnings from the boss about his behaviour.

The sun on Sunday claimed that the decision not to renew Max's contract was made after they disciplined him.

A source said: 'Max is ready to move on. He is proud of his time on the show and what he has achieved, but he is focused on new projects and what he will do next.”

It was reported that the actor had made decisions with bosses for a talk with executives about his off-screen drama in 2022.

A TV source said: 'Max was called by executives for an interview. He is an extremely talented actor and was always a true professional on set. However, there were concerns that his partying lifestyle away from the set could prove a distraction.'

Off-screen, Max had been dating his co-star Shona McGarty, 32, for six months before they decided to call time on their romance. Shona will also leave the soap in the coming weeks after 15 years.

Sources claimed the pair were 'inseparable' following his split from girlfriend Roisin Buckle, and they made their relationship official on Instagram in August 2022.

However, Max and Shona split in October 2022, with sources claiming the pair had decided to remain friends after Max welcomed a baby boy with his ex Roisin.

Their relationship started when his ex-girlfriend Roisin, 38, was pregnant with their child.

Last month, Max broke his silence after being 'rejected' when he told fans he was 'surrounded by love' all day and was 'grateful' as he celebrated his birthday, as he thanked viewers for their support

In September 2022, Max revealed that he was a father for the first time after the birth of his son.

Roisin and Max both shared a sweet black and white photo of their son, who was born on September 19, 2022, as they revealed they named him Reginald.

They revealed they were expecting their first child in April 2022. The soap star met Roisin in a pub in June 2021. The pair quickly bonded and went on holiday to Madeira in July.

The couple decided to split in March 2022, while agreeing to co-parent once their son was born, but Roisin claimed in August that they had not been in contact for two months.

The same month, Max was spotted at a country music festival with his EastEnders co-star Shona at London's O2.

'Grateful for family and friends. Thanks for all the messages. Great love.'

His final scenes will air in the spring, but it is understood that his character Ben, who has been played by numerous actors in the past, will not be killed off.

An EastEnders spokesperson told MailOnline: 'Max will be leaving EastEnders next year. We wish him all the best for the future.'

A TV insider said this The sun: 'Max has been playing Ben for the past four years and the bosses decided his time on the show was over.

“There's been a lot of noise around him for a little too long and that can take away from the drama in the show.

'He went for an interview because his contract would be extended next year. No one knew how things would go and after consultation it was decided that he would leave.'

Max, the sixth actor to play Ben, has been involved in some of the soap's biggest storylines of late.

Ben struggled to cope with the death of Lola Pearce-Brown (Danielle Harold), who was the mother of his daughter Lexi.

He subsequently developed eating disorder bulimia while trying to cope with his grief.
