New Delhi: Ousted Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam on Sunday reacted strongly to his expulsion from the grand party, stating that even Lord Ram had endured 'vanvas' (exile) for fourteen years and asserted that there can be no compromise on 'Ram ' and 'Rashtra'.

The outspoken leader lashed out at the Congress after his expulsion, saying he wished the party had expelled him for 14 years instead of six years, similar to what the Hindu god had to endure during his lifetime.

“Last night I heard through many media that the Congress Party has issued a letter from its side. KC Venugopal has said in the letter that I have been expelled for anti-party activities. First of all, I thank the Congress leadership for releasing me from the party. I also want to ask them what activities there were that were against the party.” Krishnam told reporters at a presser.

“Secondly, I want the Congress party to deport me for fourteen years instead of six years. Lord Rama was also expelled for fourteen years,” he added.

Congress must clarify 'anti-party' activities

Krishnam disputed the “anti-party” allegations against him and asked whether pronouncing Lord Ram's name, going to Ayodhya, accepting the Pran Pratishtha invitation, laying the foundation of Shri Kalki Dham or meeting (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi will be considered anti-party allegations. -party activities?

“These are my questions to the Congress leadership and they should tell the people what they consider to be anti-party activities.”

The firebrand leader said he had opposed many decisions of the Congress, including opposing the abrogation of Article 370 and supporting DMK leaders who attacked Sanatana Dharma.

“There were many decisions taken by the Congress party that I did not agree with, such as opposing the abrogation of Article 370. Congress should not have opposed this. Congress should not have supported the DMK leaders when they compared Sanatana Dharma to Dengue and Malaria. I want to make one thing clear that there should be no compromise on Ram and Rashtra. Today I became free,” Krishnam said.

Will never leave Congress, Rajiv Gandhi promised

Reacting to the action taken against him, Pramod Krishnam said the promise he made to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi that he would not leave the Congress party before he died was the reason he did not leave the party despite several insults.

“I have been connected through Congress for years. Rajesh Pilot made me meet Rajiv Gandhi Ji. I then said that I will not leave Congress until I die. I made my promises. There were many congressional issues that I disagreed with. Like the abrogation of Article 370, triple Talaq, Congress should not have opposed it,” he said.

“The party started insulting me. I faced a lot of insults, but still I didn't leave the party. The promise I made to Rajiv Gandhi came in between and that is why I did not leave the party. I also thought that the person who doesn't know how to respect people who have been by their grandparents' side, from Ghulam Nabi Azad to Kamal Nath, from Bhupendra Singh Hooda to Digvijaya Singh and Anand Sharma. These are the people who were with Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. They were the people who held Rahul Gandhi's hands and made him learn to walk,” the ousted Congress leader added.

Addressing the grand old party, Krishnam said, 'The question is not about my expulsion, the question is whether the Congress, which consisted of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad, Indira Gandhi, where they congress?”

Rahul's hatred for Prime Minister has expanded into a hating country

In a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Acharya Pramod said: “The question is about the future of the country. I know that in a democracy a strong opposition is necessary. But in the name of strong opposition, they harbor hatred only against one person. Being in opposition does not mean hating your Prime Minister. I must say it is a shame that he hates Prime Minister Modi so much that he has now started hating the country.

“A person who does not respect his mother or sister, how will he respect others?” he asked.

“Sachin Pilot is often disrespected within the party and like Lord Shiv, he swallows the poison. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is also disrespected… You should ask her why she is not joining Rahul Gandhi in his Yatra. The question is who is giving instructions to disrespect them because our President (Mallikarjun Kharge) is just a rubber stamp,” Krishnam alleged.

'Will stand behind Prime Minister Modi'

The Acharya said that from now on he will support Prime Minister Modi for the development of the country

“I am happy to say that I have not left Congress. I have not broken the promise I made to Rajiv Gandhi. But from today onwards, for the development of the country, I will support the Prime Minister of the country. The foundation laying ceremony of Shri Kalki Dham will take place on February 19. And I am proud that Prime Minister Modi will be attending the event. I also thank UP CM Yogi Adityanath ji for accepting the invitation to come to Shri Kalki Dham,” the ousted Congress leader said.

Asked about working with the BJP, Krishnam said: “I don't know where I will go. I have faith in God. I will go wherever God takes me. I am with Modi ji because he is with the country.”

Congress expel Acharya Pramod Krishnam

The Congress on Saturday expelled outspoken leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam for “undisciplined and anti-party” remarks.

In an official statement, the Congress said the decision to expel Acharya Pramod was taken by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge in view of “indiscipline and statements against the party” by the senior leader.

Krishnam has been expelled from the party for six years, it said.

“In view of complaints of indiscipline and repeated statements against the party, the Congress President has approved the proposal of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee to expel Shri Pramod Krishnam for six years with immediate effect,” a statement from the general secretary of the Congress (organisation) KC. Venugopal.

Notably, Krishnam had recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and invited them for the foundation ceremony of Shri Kalki Dham at the Sambhal of Uttar Pradesh on February 19.

Almost guaranteeing that the meltdown under Donald J. Trump's Make America Great Again movement will continue, Liz Cheney has spoken out about Taylor Swift.

The former Wyoming representative and scion of old Republicanism, who was effectively excommunicated from the party for her criticism of Mr. Trump, declared on social media: “Taylor Swift is a national treasure.”

Mr. Trump responded on his social media website: “Liz has gone completely Democratic.”

That Mrs. Cheney poked that bear is not surprising. She has spent years provoking Mr. Trump, antagonizing his most ardent followers and urging her fellow Republicans to move on after renouncing him in response to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Mr. Trump's response is more remarkable.

His presidential campaign had at first tried to ignore the swirl of baseless conspiracy theories among his supporters, which somehow claim that Ms. Swift and Travis Kelce of Kansas City are carrying out a fake, made-for-TV romance by Democrats. and the National Football League to drum up interest ahead of a rigged Super Bowl, when they would support President Biden's re-election.

Ultimately, conservatives' fulminations reached such a fever pitch that the campaign gave its supporters the message not to worry: No amount of support could save Mr. Biden.

But opponents of Mr. Trump have seen it in their interest to stoke the controversy and draw the ire of the Swiftie legions, hoping to attract more women to Mr. Biden's camp, widening the gender gap and young voters are energized.

On Wednesday, Never Trump Republicans joined in. Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican representative who joined Ms. Cheney on the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, wrote, “Can you imagine seething with outrage over Taylor Swift ,' he asked. He added: “Good gentlemen, take a walk and relax.”

Also the Lincoln Project, founded by anti-Trump conservatives and former Republicans made a video to mark the moment.

Mercilessly mocked, some Republicans and conservative commentators have tried to withdraw it. Spencer Cox, Republican Governor of Utahsaid the 2024 election was going to be bad enough “without us coming up with more stupid things to fight about.”

He pleaded, “Just let Travis and Taylor do their thing. Encourage your team. Cheer for the football. Listen to your music. Let's take a deep breath and relax.”

The former king of Spain has been accused of playing a role in “fueling” rumors about an alleged affair between Queen Letizia and her former brother-in-law.

The Spanish royal family has been rocked by shocking claims from businessman Jaime Del Burgo, who sensationally claimed he had a relationship with 51-year-old Letizia before and after her marriage to King Felipe.

Del Burgo subsequently married Letizia’s sister, Telma Ortiz, from whom he is now divorced. The Spanish court has repeatedly refused to comment on the allegations.

In a new twist, a veteran Spanish journalist has accused supporters of the former king, who is all but excluded from the royal family, of mounting a ‘campaign’ against his son Felipe.

Referring to the claims, popular radio host Federico Jiménez Losantos said: “It’s the ‘nth’ campaign against Felipe VI,” before adding: “It’s Juan Carlos’s circles that are stirring things up.”

Juan Carlos reigned as king of Spain from 1975 to 2014, when he abdicated in favor of his son.

The official reason was given as his age, but a series of controversies followed and there were suggestions that he was pressured to give up the throne to protect the institution.

The corruption scandals in which he has been embroiled since handing over power to King Felipe VI, whose wife Letizia is a former journalist, have left his reputation in tatters.

He now lives in Abu Dhabi, and Spanish media have quoted sources close to the former monarch as saying he is angry at having been disowned by his family.

Now the latest rumors have plunged the Spanish monarchy into a new scandal.

Del Burgo, 53, currently based in Britain, recently contributed to a comprehensive book about the 51-year-old Spanish royal family Letizia y Yo (Letizia and I).

In it, he claims he and Letizia were dating when she met Felipe and were still in a relationship after her 2004 marriage to the Spanish king.

Following the claims, the entrepreneur shared a selfie the Queen took in the mirror during one of her pregnancies as ‘proof’ of their relationship.

The selfie shows the royal in a black pashmina – which Jaime claims was his – and he also typed a message into his social media post, allegedly sent to him by the Spanish Queen.

It read: ‘Love. I’m wearing your pashmina. It’s like I feel you by my side. It takes care of me. It protects me. I’m counting the hours until we meet again. Love you. Go away. Yours,’

Spanish media have reported other messages he allegedly posted on X, which the entrepreneur reportedly deleted shortly after publication. It pointed out that they had a secret affair after Letizia married Felipe.

Father-of-two Del Burgo divorced Letizia’s sister by mutual consent in 2016, four years after they married and two years after they split.

Irma Capece Minutolo, a Neapolitan beauty queen and opera singer whose relationship with the exiled Egyptian king and world-renowned hedonist Farouk I became fodder for gossip columnists around the world, died June 7 at her home in Rome. She turned 87.

Her death was confirmed by a cousin, Irma Capece Minutolo.

Mrs. Capece Minutolo was a teenager from Naples in the early 1950s when she first met Farouk, who fled to Italyalong with other members of his family, on his royal yacht after a military coup in 1952.

During his reign, “he had such exorbitant tastes”, read his obituary in The New York Times, “and so little regard for his public image in a poor country that he soon became known as a wolf, a glutton and a carefree gambler.”

He took that appetite to Italy. “The name of this chubby monarch with the sweeping moustache had become synonymous with international playboy,” The Times noted. He died at the age of 45 of a heart attack during a midnight meal at a French restaurant in Rome in 1965.

Accounts of how the pair met vary and are often filtered by the gossip standards of the day. According to “Farouk: Uncensored,” a 1965 pulpy narrator by a journalist named Michael Stern, Farouk fell under the spell of Mrs. Capece Minutolo during a beauty pageant and shouted “Fraud!” when she did not place, before arranging a meeting. (She was already crowned by then Miss Naples of 1953.)

In an email, her niece disputed that and other accounts, saying that Mrs. Capece Minutolo, aged 16, had been chosen to welcome Farouk with a bouquet of flowers when he arrived in Naples in 1952 and that they met in Circolo Canottieri, an exclusive club in Naples that her father was a member of.

Her social status also became a question. Born in Naples on August 6, 1935, Mrs. Capece Minutolo was often referred to in the news media as a princess or marchioness, and the venerable L’Annuario della Nobiltà Italiana (The Yearbook of Italian Nobility) lists her as a descendant of Neapolitan princes.

However, in 1954, when rumors of an impending marriage spread, she sued two Italian journalists who reported that her parents were driver and the daughter of a janitor. “During the reporters’ trial for defamation,” Time magazine reported at the time, “Irma’s father had complained indignantly, ‘To doubt my daughter’s aristocratic parentage is to slander the father of Farouk’s betrothed, whose marriage is imminent. ‘” (The resolution of the lawsuit is unclear.)

Her niece said Mrs. Capece Minutolo’s father was Prince Augusto, who owned a luxury car dealership.

Another open question was whether a marriage was indeed imminent. At the time of the lawsuit Time quoted Mrs. Capece Minutolo said: “I prefer not to get married. Farouk is wise and tender, but marriage is the tomb of love.”

But she later said that they were married in 1958 in an Islamic ceremony. Ms Capece Minutolo attended Farouk’s funeral along with his first wife, Queen Farida, although the British newspaper The Telegraph reported that she was not named in the former monarch’s will. She was usually described as his companion in news media reports.

In the early years, their relationship was compared to George Bernard Shaw’s play, “Pygmalion,” or perhaps “My Fair Lady,” with stories of Farouk sending her to school, giving her restyled and money-making singing lessons. “It was a perfect match between an Eliza Doolittle and a Henry Higgins,” wrote Mr. Stern.

The singing lessons paid off in the early 1960s, when Farouk arranged her debut performance at a black-tie recital of arias at an art club in Naples. Less than a minute after she launched into her first aria, from Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” the lights went out. “A few women started screaming,” The Boston Globe recalled in a 1969 article. “A lot of the men howled with laughter.”

Soon candles came from a church next door so she could finish the set with their flashes of light. It was a good idea, except the performance was interrupted again when a candle set fire to the pianist’s sheet music.

Mrs. Capece Minutolo became a punchline, adding to her notoriety as the girlfriend of a king whose compatriots had found him “dissolute and monumentally greedy,” as The Times put it.

“The public thought of me as a silly sex pot with no talent,” she told The Globe.

But the disastrous debut turned out to be no death knell for her dreams. After Farouk died, Mrs. Capece Minutolo moved into a small apartment and returned to her singing lessons. By the end of the decade she had built a career and received acclaim for many performances, including Verdi’s “Il trovatore” in Rome and a production of Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi”, directed by the famous Italian baritone Tito Gobbi, in Florence.

She also appeared in a handful of films, including Franco Zeffirelli’s “The Young Toscanini” (1988), starring Elizabeth Taylor, and later ran a singing school in Rome.

Mrs. Capece Minutolo had no direct survivors.

Perhaps no performance was more redemptive for her career than a performance in the late 1960s at an opera house in Parma, known according to The Globe as the “lion’s den” for its relentless hecklers.

“Audiences, primed by her previous publicity as Farouk’s maid, had come to the theater crammed full of bear,” The Globe wrote. “But Irma fooled them all. One fan even shouted from the stands, ‘First of all, you sing great. Second, you are beautiful.’”
