A Florida couple’s trip to the Dominican Republic to attend a wedding turned into days of anxiety after they dropped off their 2-year-old son with relatives in neighboring Haiti and the boy ended up trapped due to the increasing unrest in that country.

After nearly three weeks, the boy, Julien, finally left Haiti and flew back to Florida on Wednesday, where he was reunited with his parents, Philippe-Olivier Armand and his wife, Olivia Turnier.

Their son’s evacuation was part of a growing number of hasty and ad hoc departures from Haiti, which has been ravaged by a wave of gang violence that has turned parts of the capital, Port-au-Prince, into a war zone and is closing its main airport .

“It was going to be a 48-hour journey, but it turned into two and a half weeks of uncertainty and stress,” says 36-year-old Mr. Armand, a Haitian businessman who works in the financial and insurance industries and travels between Haiti and his home in Miami. . He said they left Julien in Haiti on March 1.

Julien, along with seven cousins and six other family members, boarded a helicopter Wednesday morning in Port-au-Prince that flew them about 125 miles north to Cap Haitien, Haiti’s second-largest city. There they were met by a charter plane from the Florida Department of Emergency Management, which took them to Florida.

The U.S. State Department said Thursday that it has helped 160 Americans leave Haiti since Sunday, some on flights to the United States and others by helicopter to the Dominican Republic.

Haiti’s capital has been consumed by violence since a coalition of gangs launched a coordinated offensive against Prime Minister Ariel Henry’s government in late February, raiding police stations and other government buildings, looting hospitals and banks and attacking private homes.

Mr. Henry, who was unable to return to Port-au-Prince after an official trip and has been staying in Puerto Rico, has agreed to resign once a transitional government is installed. Negotiations over who will be part of that government are proceeding slowly.

As part of an international plan to stabilize Haiti, a mission of 1,000 police officers led by Kenya and approved by the United Nations should be deployed to the Caribbean country after an interim government is installed.

Gangs now control major roads in and out of Port-au-Prince and block access to the seaport, cutting off the supply of food, fuel and water to the city. This week, gang members have attacked more affluent areas, including the suburb of Pétionville, where many families from abroad live.

As of Tuesday, about a thousand Americans had filled out “crisis intake” forms as part of the process to seek a way out of the country, according to the State Department, although officials said evacuations would be dictated by security conditions.

The state of Florida is organizing its own departures, with Governor Ron DeSantis announcing Tuesday that the flight that brought the Armand family from Haiti to Orlando would likely be the first of many.

Mr. Armand said the ordeal began when he and several relatives left their children with relatives in Haiti. “All the parents traveled without their children, and it became a nightmare,” he said.

Relatives, Mr. Armand said, were given last-minute instructions Wednesday morning to go to a sand field in Pétionville, where the helicopter picked them up.

“It was not easy to find a place to land the helicopter,” said Philippe Armand, Julien’s 75-year-old grandfather, who lives in Miami and used WhatsApp to track the journey. “It was quiet, like a covert operation.”

The logistics were organized with the help of a Florida foundation run by Jack Brewer, a former National Football League player.

“It wouldn’t have happened without him,” Mr Armand said.

Americans on flights coordinated by the U.S. government must agree to reimburse the government, although the State Department has said the cost will not exceed the price of a commercial flight between the countries.

Mr. DeSantis said people who traveled on the plane that landed in Florida would not be charged.

With Port-au-Prince airport closed, evacuations have become increasingly dangerous. To reach Cap Haitien you must travel on roads controlled by gangs who regularly kidnap drivers and passengers and demand ransoms.

Many Haitians are calling with greater urgency for the United States to send military reinforcements to Haiti, and some are angry about the focus on evacuating U.S. citizens and diplomatic personnel from other countries.

“Instead of addressing the situation, we see embassies evacuating people,” said Reginald Delva, a Haitian security adviser and former minister of the Haitian government. “It is time to focus on the security situation.”

CARLOS ALCARAZ’s showdown with Alexander Zverev was put on hold… after he was stung during a bee invasion.

The Spanish sensation, 20, took on the German in Indian Wells with the aim of securing his place in the semi-finals.

But at 1-1 in the first set, we saw a sudden influx of bees descend on the field in incredible scenes.

Thousands of flying stingers flew around Alcaraz as he prepared to serve.

The Wimbledon champion desperately batted them away in panic before rushing away to put a towel to his head for protection.

However, his manager then confirmed that Alcaraz had been stabbed in the forehead during the drama.

Then referee Mohamed Lahyani – who was frantically avoiding the bees – announced into the microphone: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we have bees – the game has been paused for a moment.

“Playback cannot continue, please pause.”

The disturbing scenes then saw Alcaraz take shelter by running down the track to safety and back to the changing rooms.

Zverev and Lahyani followed suit, with some fans also leaving the stadium.

Stunned commentators could barely comprehend what was happening.

The TV cameras then showed the spider camera completely covered in bugs.

Smoking Andrei Rublev was disqualified from the Dubai Open after shouting at the line judge while even the opponent protested the decision

The operator then lifted the camera in an attempt to remove the bees from the stadium.

However, it is understood that a number of tennis spectators were stabbed during the invasion.

During the break, Sky Sports confirmed that a beekeeper was on his way to the venue, while a fire engine also appeared.

Unsurprisingly, fans took to social media to give their reactions.

Judy Murray said: “You can’t be serious… play suspended on Indian Wells stadium field after bee invasion. That has to be a first.”

Another wrote: “You’ve never seen anything like this before!”

A third added: “Everyone needs to be careful.”

A fourth joked: “What a buzzing atmosphere.”

A fifth joked: “How beezarre.”

And one end user simply said, “Tennis, what a sport.”

Taylor Swift was spotted leaving Australia on her private jet on Tuesday after her father Scott was accused of assaulting a local photographer.

The American singer’s private jet left Sydney Airport on Tuesday morning, just hours after her final Eras tour concert in the city on Monday evening.

The Bombardier Global 6000, which both Taylor and her boyfriend Travis Kelce traveled to Australia on, was seen taxiing down the runway as the global pop star made her departure.

Taylor had traveled Down Under for seven sold-out concerts in Melbourne and Sydney, which concluded on Monday night, and she has just a few days off before returning to the stage in Singapore on March 2.

Her departure comes just hours after her father Scott, 71, was accused of punching Ben McDonald, 51, at a ferry terminal in the suburb of Neutral Bay about 2.30am on Tuesday, after the Australian leg of her Eras tour concluded .

Her departure comes just hours after her father Scott (center right), 71, was accused of punching Ben McDonald, 51, at a ferry dock in suburban Neutral Bay about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Taylor’s team has said that Scott allegedly punched an Australian photographer in the face after “threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.”

Taylor and Scott had traveled from Homebush on a luxury superyacht called Quantum before the alleged attack.

A spokeswoman for Taylor Swift told Daily Mail Australia the photographers were “aggressive.”

“Two individuals aggressively pushed their way towards Taylor, grabbed her security staff and threatened to throw a female staff member into the water,” she said.

However, Mr McDonald – the CEO of Matrix Media Group – branded the statement “complete nonsense” and said Taylor was the only woman at the scene.

“This is the kind of bulls**t I would expect,” he said. ‘Which woman was that? The only one there was Taylor.”

Mr McDonald said the altercation was caught on camera and did not show the photographers behaving aggressively.

The North Shore Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged incident.

The photographer previously accused Scott of ‘attacking’ him while he was off the superyacht with Taylor.

He initially thought it was a security guard and was shocked to realize the alleged attacker was the pop star’s father.

Mr McDonald also said he did not know what prompted the alleged attack.

“In 23 years of taking pictures, I’ve never seen anything like this,” he said.

“She got off the boat and walked towards the guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces.”

Footage of the alleged incident showed Taylor and her father leaving the dock with large umbrellas blocking the view.

Mr McDonald started shooting when a security guard was heard telling him not to touch the umbrella.

The camera shook and there was movement from behind the umbrella.

A security guard could be heard saying: “That wasn’t me, that wasn’t me.”

Mr. McDonald asked, “Who was that?”

He then went to The Rocks Police Station and reported the alleged incident.

Mr McDonald did not require medical attention and does not believe he will suffer permanent injuries, but has “very painful chops” on the left side of his face.

He has been praised for handing out sandwiches to fans in the middle of a show in Sydney and saying ‘help yourself’.

Additional tickets were released the day before Taylor’s first show in Melbourne earlier this month, but most had limited views of the stage.

Scott walked around handing out VIP passes so that excited fans would have access to better seats.

A political activist in Hong Kong, previously jailed under the sweeping national security law, said he had fled to Britain and would seek asylum there. This made him the second high-profile dissident this month to announce he was going into exile from the area.

The activist, Tony Chung, revealed on Thursday that he had arrived in Britain, and in several social media posting, said he had decided to leave Hong Kong after oppressive restrictions, pressure to act as an informant and severe stress following his release from prison in June.

Chung, 22, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison in 2021 after becoming an outspoken supporter of Hong Kong’s independence – an idea that is anathema to the leaders of China’s Communist Party, which rules the territory . He was released early, but police officers continued to keep a close eye on him, he wrote in his account on Instagram. He got their permission to take a short vacation to Okinawa, Japan, and while there he bought a ticket to Britain, he wrote.

“This also means that it will be impossible for me to return to my home, Hong Kong, in the near future,” Mr Chung wrote. “Although I previously expected this day to come, my heart still sank the moment I made a decision. Since I joined social movements from the age of fourteen, I have always believed that Hong Kong is the only home for the nation of Hong Kong, and we should never be the ones to leave it.”

Mr Chung’s departure from Hong Kong was earlier reported by The Washington Post. Hong Kong police did not respond to emailed questions about him on Friday.

Mr Chung joins a growing number of Hong Kong activists and pro-democracy organizers who have left since the territory imposed a national security law in June 2020 in response to massive pro-democracy protests there for much of 2019, which at times culminated in violent clashes between demonstrators and police officers. The law established the judicial and police apparatus to drastically restrict political freedoms in Hong Kong, a British colony until 1997. This colony retained its own system of laws after the handover to China and limited democratic competition for a share of seats in the city’s legislature.

In early December, Agnes Chow, a former pro-democracy student activist in Hong Kong who had served a prison sentence for a number of charges related to her political activities and was still under investigation for others, announced that she had gone to Canada and ignored instructions to file a report. to the Hong Kong police, a condition of her bail. She said that after her release, police took her on an indoctrination tour of mainland China, trying to convince her that Communist Party rule was only for the better.

“I may never go back in my life,” she wrote about Hong Kong.

Mr. Chung described similar efforts by the Hong Kong officers who surveilled him.

Mr Chung became the third person to be convicted under the security law after prosecutors accused him of secession by promoting Hong Kong’s independence, on social media and through a now-disbanded group, Studentlocalism. He was also convicted of money laundering in connection with donations he received in support of the group.

After his release from prison, he tried to regain his economic footing with a temporary job, but police officers ordered him not to take it, without explaining why. Agents offered to pay Mr. Chung to act as an informant, and at meetings they pressed him for details about the places he had been and the people he had met, including his elementary school classmates, he wrote.

The expansion of such informal surveillance of ex-prisoners shows how Hong Kong’s security police have at least partially adopted the methods of mainland Chinese authorities, said Thomas Kellogg, executive director of the Georgetown Center for Asian Law, which has investigated how the Chinese authorities national security legislation has been enforced.

“What we see with Agnes, Tony and others is the importation into Hong Kong of some of these elements of the police state,” Mr. Kellogg said in a telephone interview.

Hong Kong Democracy Council estimates that there are more than 1,700 people in the area have been jailed for protest activities, organized political opposition and related charges, including property damage, under the national security crackdown. How many have been released and how many have left the territory is less clear, experts say.

“You’re seeing a small stream of people who have decided to leave,” Mr. Kellogg said. “There are many different permutations, but the end result in many of these cases is the same: people run for the exit, if they can.”

Hong Kong activists can still face harassment abroad. In July, the territory’s government announced a bounty of HK$1 million, or about $128,000, for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of eight activists who fled abroad.

Such tactics mean that some activists who leave Hong Kong may choose to live under the radar, rather than expose their families back home to interrogations and pressure from police, said Patrick Poona visiting scholar at the University of Tokyo who monitors human rights in Hong Kong.

“But some others think, ‘Well, I don’t have any contact with my family in Hong Kong anymore,’” Mr Poon said. “Some young people in particular defy such threats.”

Mr Chung said he planned to study in Britain and suggested he could remain politically active. “I believe that as long as the people of Hong Kong never give up, the seeds of freedom and democracy will sprout back to life,” he wrote.

Emmerdale has said goodbye to character Chloe Harris as she heads to the village for good after an epic showdown with her father Harry.

On Tuesday it was confirmed that Jessie Elland has left the show after two years, with Chloe’s final scenes airing in dramatic fashion as she eloped with baby boy Reuben.

Chloe’s on-screen father, Robert Beck, also quit the soap, and his death was confirmed after viewers saw him shot in the Christmas Day episode.

Viewers saw Harry hold Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) hostage after learning of his treatment of her daughter, and things came to a head this week with a dramatic shooting.

Caught in the crossfire of her boyfriend Mack’s kidnapping, Charity (Emma Atkins) left Harry’s life hanging in the balance after accidentally shooting him with her gun.

In the Boxing Day episode, Chloe made a deal to leave with her son Reuben because he didn’t report Charity to the police.

Mackenzie was given a final goodbye with his son before Chloe and Reuben left, and these scenes will be the character’s last on the soap.

Speaking about her two-year stint on Emmerdale, actress Jessie Elland said: “I had the best two years of my life playing Chloe and being part of Emmerdale.

‘In those two years, it has never become less surreal to walk through the stage door of studios or stand outside the Woolpack in the village.

‘I feel so privileged to have been given this opportunity and to have been given such wonderful storylines.

‘I really had to check off the soap bingo card; a birth, discovering new family members, a big stunt, a soapy slap and even a classic back of the taxi exit!

“While working with and learning from incredibly talented people I had seen on screen.

‘I’m sure you’ve heard other cast members say that being in Emmerdale is like being part of a big family, but it couldn’t be more true.

‘The cast and crew of Emmerdale are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and they made Emmerdale feel like a second home to me.

‘What made my time on Emmerdale even more valuable was the viewers’ reaction to Chloe and her storylines.

‘Meeting fans of the show and hearing how much it means to them is such a special experience and it always makes me feel so proud and lucky to be even a small part of something so loved. I can’t thank you enough for that.

‘It’s very difficult to put into words how much Emmerdale means to me and it certainly wasn’t an easy decision to leave such a beautiful place and such wonderful people. I’m going to miss it so much, but I feel incredibly lucky to come away with great memories and friends for life!’

Chloe made her first appearance in Emmerdale in August 2021, as the sister of late teenager Gemma Harris, whose heart was donated to Sarah Sugden.

During her two-year run, she was involved in numerous storylines, including being stalked by Noah Dingle, and discovering that Kerry Wyatt was her biological mother.

In recent months, viewers saw Chloe fall pregnant after a one-night stand with Mackenzie, which was later revealed to his devastated wife Charity.

While Mack promised he would commit to Chloe and their son, he later mended his relationship with Charity, leaving his affair devastated.

Chloe decided to leave the village and failed to tell Mack where she was going, only for soap fans to find out that the evil Harry was her father.

The Republican-led House of Representatives on Thursday concluded a year of paralysis and dysfunction with the latest in a series of failures to act on an urgent crisis, reversing a sweeping emergency spending measure to once again send money to Ukraine for its war against Ukraine. Russia.

It was a surprising outcome, but also a fitting finale to one of the most tumultuous and unproductive legislative years in recent history, marked by Republican infighting and a slim majority that left Republican leaders in the House of Representatives struggling to achieve even the absolute to do a minimum of governing.

The inability to reach an agreement with the Senate to support a key U.S. ally taking on President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia — even though there are clear majorities in the House of Representatives and the Senate strongly supporting it — only underscored but the disorder.

Never mind that the House of Representatives left town without making a dent in a pile of unfinished work on spending legislation to keep the government funded and planned to return after New Year’s, with only eight business days to spare avoid a partial closure if they fail to complete it.

The first session of the House of Representatives of the 118th Congress will be best remembered for the unprecedented fifteen roll call votes it took in January to elect a speaker, who was then unceremoniously dumped by a Republican mutiny ten months later. That left the House leaderless and unable to work for weeks.

“This fall has been a very active stupid political climate because of a mistake and deception,” said Rep. Patrick T. McHenry, the North Carolina Republican who served as speaker to oversee the election of Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson.

Like more than three dozen of his colleagues in the House of Representatives so far, Mr. McHenry, a 10-term veteran, has weighed in on the state of the House by announcing this month that he will not run for office next year eligible for re-election. On Thursday alone, two more retirees announced their plans to leave as Republicans and Democrats gave the House of Representatives failing marks for 2023 and went home for the holidays.

“It was historic and hysterical,” said Rep. Steve Womack, Republican of Arkansas and a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, which helped block the election of Rep. Jim Jordan, Republican of Ohio, as chairman. “In one word I would say: ‘disappointing.’”

The House barely managed to avoid complete disasters of its own making. Congress narrowly avoided a disastrous federal default that far-right Republicans provoked by refusing to raise the debt limit without deep spending cuts. She also tried, without wasting time, to avoid a government shutdown, once again sidestepping the objections of the far right, while its members continued to refuse to budge without cutting spending and imposing conservative social policies. Their positions proved impossible to maintain now that Democrats had control of the White House and Senate.

Ultimately, Speaker Kevin McCarthy embraced legislation to avert both economic crises and was forced to rely on Democrats to get the debt limit suspension and relief bills on President Biden’s desk. His bow to reality led a handful of Republican opponents, led by Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida, to force a vote to vacate the presidency, unseating Mr. McCarthy and sending the House of Representatives into a spiraling search for his successor ended up.

Speaking for the final time Thursday, McCarthy, who began his career as a rising Republican star in another era of factionalism in the House of Representatives, said he would take the same steps again even if he knew what the outcome would be. are.

“If your philosophy brings people more freedom, don’t be afraid it could cause you to lose your job,” he said as his California colleagues celebrated his time in the House of Representatives. “I knew that the day we decided to pay our troops as the war broke out rather than stop was the right decision.”

The House of Representatives ended the year with bipartisan approval of a sweeping Pentagon policy measure. But again, this could only be accomplished in the Republican-led House of Representatives with significant Democratic support. Far-right Republicans balked, unhappy that provisions aimed at ending what they considered “woke” military policies on abortion, transgender care and racial diversity were being dropped, and some members of both parties objection to an extension of supervisory powers without justification.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the Democratic leader, took the opportunity to remind Republicans that what little they have done should be credited to Democrats.

“Everything that has happened productively in this Congress — which isn’t much, because of the extreme MAGA Republicans — has happened because the Democrats in the House of Representatives have taken the lead,” he said.

The far-right segment of Republicans in the House of Representatives started the year well, having won significant concessions from Mr. McCarthy in return for their support for his bid for speaker. They saw themselves in the driver’s seat when it came to spending and other policy issues. They flexed their muscles in non-traditional ways, including opposing the procedural motions required to bring bills to the floor, which have historically been strict party-line votes. That prevented their leaders from going ahead with the measures they opposed. Their party’s narrow margin of control gave them more power.

Mr. McCarthy often veered in their direction, but the path was usually a dead end, as the more extreme policies were opposed by both mainstream Republican conservatives and Democrats in Congress.

On spending, for example, Mr. McCarthy bowed to the far right and agreed to set levels lower than the debt limit agreement he reached with Mr. Biden, angering Democrats and Republicans frustrated. The conservative stance made it difficult to move forward on the legislation, and the appropriations process ended in a knot, despite a Republican promise to consider and pass twelve individual spending bills.

Given the impasse, McCarthy plowed ahead and kept the government open with Democratic votes in late September. Mr. Johnson, who quickly found himself in the same situation, also relied on Democrats in November to keep government agencies funded until January, when the question of a shutdown will resurface.

Growing Republican opposition to Ukraine’s financing slowed the Biden administration’s request for about $50 billion in additional security aid, while Republicans in the House of Representatives joined their Senate counterparts in demanding tough border policies in return support that. This led to an impasse that could not be resolved before the House left for the holidays.

Instead of what they see as a crucial foreign policy priority, Senate leaders decided to keep the House in session next week in hopes of reaching an agreement on border policy changes, even as success seemed like a long shot . Even if the Senate could reach an agreement on immigration changes, it was highly uncertain whether they would be enough to prevail in the House of Representatives.

There was no guarantee that 2024 would be better — and it could potentially be worse given the battle for control of the House of Representatives. Mr. McCarthy and Mr. Johnson have both tried to mollify conservatives in the House of Representatives with a focus on ousting Mr. Biden and challenging the administration on other fronts, but the ongoing internal strife seems likely to continue, especially given Mr Johnson’s inexperience.

“There’s no real sign that things will improve,” Mr Womack said. “They could even deteriorate.”

He added: “The rollercoaster has slowed down a bit and has leveled out a bit. But just around the bend here there will be some more twists and turns and a few loops and a few other songs that might have us reaching for the barf bag.

Taylor Swift has arrived at Lambeau Field to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Chiefs take on the Green Bay Packers, shortly after she was spotted leaving Kansas City on her private jet.

Kelce and Co. are in Wisconsin looking to improve on their 8-3 record and solidify their place at the top of the AFC West against the low-ranked, 5-6 Packers. He was seen getting off the Chiefs bus wearing a modern-looking cowboy outfit.

The pop sensation walked into Lambeau Field alongside BFF Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Once inside the stadium, the pair hugged before going their separate ways. Swift dazzled in a red overcoat and black dress. She prepared for the weather by wearing tights and high boots to complete her outfit.

Brittany was dressed in a red top with a Chiefs varsity jacket, while she also matched Swift’s look by wearing tall boots. Her husband’s number 15 is depicted on her red letterman jacket. The duo were last seen chatting with friends in a suite before kick-off.

Earlier on Sunday, hours before the final NFL game of the weekend, Brittany was seen jumping out of a black Lamborghini SUV and onto Swift’s Dassault Falcon 7x, minutes before the pop icon arrived at Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City, in exclusive pictures of DailyMail.com.

Swift’s arrival was noticeable as she arrived in a black GMC with her security team in tow. As they boarded the plane, her escorts set up umbrellas to block prying eyes.

On Friday, Swift and Kelce joined the Mahomes for a festive Christmas celebration in Missouri.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was the first to announce the “You Belong with Me” singer’s expected appearance in Wisconsin earlier this week.

‘Should she be here? That’s what I heard. So we’ll see,” he said Friday.

Sunday marks the fifth Chiefs game Swift has attended since the pop superstar and four-time All-Pro tight end began their relationship.

The Chiefs won all four of their previous games for Swift and hope to do the same for their fans this weekend. One Chiefs fan wore Kelce’s red Chiefs jersey with his number 87 on it, except instead of having the tight end’s name on it as usual, he had Taylor’s Boyfriend’ embroidered on the shirt.

Another fan had a sign that read: “Go #87 Taylor’s boyfriend.” Two other fans held signs that read “Where’s Taylor” and “We love T. Swift.”

Someone in the stands came up with the most original poster of the night, comparing Swift to American gymnast and gold medal Olympian Simone Biles, wife of Jonathan Owens: “We’re not here to see Taylor, we want to see Simone!” ‘

Swift had not attended a Chiefs game since the win over the Chargers on Oct. 22, largely due to conflicts with her tour schedule, which is currently on hiatus.

She first saw Kelce in person during a home win over Chicago and then traveled to games at the New York Jets and Denver.

Kelce has averaged 108 yards receiving in the games Swift has attended. In his other six games he has averaged 50 yards. He missed the Chiefs’ season opener due to injury.

A horror crash has left three teenage passengers in hospital, while the driver remains missing after fleeing the scene.

Emergency services were called to Southern Cross Drive in Mascot, in Sydney’s south, just before 1am on Sunday to reports of a two-vehicle crash.

A 13-year-old boy had to be extricated from a Kia by the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Squad before being taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick in a serious condition.

Two other passengers, girls aged 12 and 13, were taken to the same hospital for observation.

Police confirmed the driver of the Kia, which was reported stolen in Alexandria on Saturday, fled the scene.

The driver of the Honda was uninjured.

Police have cordoned off a crime scene and are investigating.

The accident came just hours after a man was killed in a two-car crash involving a BMW and a separate Kia at around 10pm.

Emergency services arrived at Wentworth Avenue, Pagewood, to pronounce the passenger of the BMW dead.

The two drivers were treated at the scene before being taken to separate hospitals, St Vincent’s and St George, in stable conditions.

A crime scene has been established for the Crash Investigation Unit to investigate and examine.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage relating to either crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

A man who rented a room on Airbnb for a business trip in the Welsh seaside town of Aberystwyth says he was shocked to find a ‘creepy webcam’ between two sofa cushions in the living room after checking in.

Ian Timbrell, 41, from Cardiff, posted to Am I wrong for unplugging the plug? It seems like a huge invasion of privacy to me!’

Timbrell, who traveled to the Welsh city in his role as an LGBT inclusivity trainer, paid around £40 for the room in the private home, with one other person staying in the property at the time.

His original post has now been viewed more than 875,000 times.

LGBT inclusivity trainer Ian Timbrell traveled to the Welsh town of Aberystwyth for work this week but was shocked to find a camera wedged between two sofa cushions in the Airbnb he had rented

He told his followers that he didn’t notice the device when he first arrived at the house, saying, “I really feel crazy for not noticing it sooner.”

He followed up the photo with a video of himself in the rental home, saying he also discovered flies in the kitchen and decided to leave for a nearby hotel around 8 p.m.

He told viewers: “So after finding the creepy webcam in my Airbnb, it’s now full of flies.”

In the video he spins around and says: ‘Look at them all on the floor, there are absolutely hundreds of them in this house. It’s disgusting.’

He decides to leave quickly and adds, “So at eight o’clock in the evening I have to spend the night somewhere else in a city I don’t know at all.”

The camera was discreetly on the couch, but Timbrell says it took a while for him to notice - Airbnb allows homeowners to record common areas if they alert their guests to the fact they're being filmed

MailOnline has contacted Airbnb for comment.

In response to his original post, people wondered how legal it was to have cameras in Airbnb properties.

Airbnb states on its website that it prohibits recording devices that are “intentionally hidden” and clearly states that homeowners are not allowed to do so security cameras or recording devices “in or that observe private areas such as bedrooms, bathrooms, or sleeping areas.”

However, cameras are allowed in communal areas, provided the owner is transparent about their presence and tells those renting the rooms or the entire property that recording is taking place – often before booking through the original listing on Airbnb .

Insult to injury: Timbrell told his followers on X shortly after posting the photo that there were hundreds of flies in the house

He then shared images of dead flies on the kitchen floor

The teacher told MailOnline that he managed to last about two hours in the building before deciding to find another place to stay.

He said he notified the property owner of the problems and that a family member would be around to take care of it, but he says they didn’t show up.

After moving into a hotel, Timbrell posted another video, saying that he managed to find a room with breakfast at the last minute and that he wouldn’t be caught the same way again. He said: ‘Lesson learned, hotel stays from now on’ .’

Kevin Costner’s estranged wife Christine Baumgartner was seen leaving Los Angeles via LAX airport on Thursday with two of their three kids, daughter Grace and son Hayes, amid the celebrity couple’s divorce battle.

The 49-year-old handbag designer, TMZ reported, was witnessed being dropped off at the airport and entering the terminal with coffee and luggage in hand.

The former couple share three children together, Cayden 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. (Costner also has four adult children from previous relationships.)

The trip isn’t expected to be a long one, according to the outlet, as Baumgartner is due back in court in Santa Barbara Wednesday for a hearing about the prenuptial agreement in the split.

Costner has claimed the $248,000 a month in child support his estranged wife is demanding is partly to fund her own plastic surgery expenses.

Baumgartner – who reportedly ‘blindsided’ Costner, 68, when she handed him divorce papers – called the requested amount ‘less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle,’ reported People Magazine earlier this month.

Costner’s forensic accountant now claims in new court documents obtained by TMZ that the expenses listed among the $248,000 include more than $100,000 in cosmetic surgery for Baumgartner.

The sum also includes thousands of dollars in boutique shopping, huge ATM withdrawals and other expenses ‘not to do with child support,’ Costner’s forensic accountant  said.

Among Christine’s listed expenses are credit card bills and her own attorney fees and construction loans.

Costner’s accountant says these are ‘one-time expenses that have nothing to do with child support.’

The documents claims Costner has been paying all of the children’s expenses and will continue to do so, saying the amount he is currently paying is the reasonable amount –  $51,940 a month.

Documents from earlier this month show that Costner pulled in just over $19.5 million in 2022 with the family’s expenses listed as being $6.6 million for the same year. The family’s net worth is put at $7.5 million, according to the People report.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for comment.

Baumgartner has recently signaled her willingness to leave the mansion they previously shared,  but only as long as she has guarantees that her soon-to-be ex won’t leave her penniless.

She  has agreed to leave the $145 million mansion on the condition that Costner, 68, agrees to pay any support and fees that a judge orders at an upcoming hearing, according to court filings obtained by RadarOnline.

In the documents, Baumgartner agrees to vacate the premises on August 31 of this year as long as Costner complies ‘with whatever support and fee orders that the court makes on July 12,’ the date of the next hearing in their divorce proceedings.

That arrangement would give her 50 days to find a new place to live and to move in, whereas the prenuptial agreement reportedly stated that she would leave the original home within 30 days of a divorce filing.

She wrote that she was hesitant to leave her home without having a plan and funding in place, if only for the sake of her children, whom she doesn’t want to have to move multiple times.

Baumgartner claimed that ‘Kevin wants me to rent [a] place without [a] financial plan in place. However, [I] have our three children to think about. It is contrary to their best interests to commit to rental that [I] may not be able to afford, particularly as that would ultimately lead to multiple relocations.

‘My goal has been and continues to be maintaining as much stability for our children as possible, which includes having the proper resources and plan in place so that [I] can establish [a] stable home for them, rather than making temporary and inconsistent housing arrangements,’ she continued.

Costner was not only the primary breadwinner, but the only person making money recently, and Baumgartner says in her filing that she has no income.

The Yellowstone star was on the hook to help his estranged wife relocate per their prenuptial agreement, but it was a relatively paltry sum for their lifestyle.

Costner would have paid her a reported $1 million to find a new home, but with California’s elevated home prices — particularly if she tried to stay near Costner — she may have had difficulty finding something similar to the luxury she and her children are accustomed to.

According to RadarOnline, Costner has deposited $1 million in Baumgartner’s bank account to get her to move out of his mansion, and he said he had previously given her $200,000 earlier in their marriage in line with their prenuptial agreement

However, Baumgartner isn’t touching the money, as she says doing so would rob her of her ability to contest their prenup’s validity.

She has also said that the couple have had no problems on days where Costner was staying at the home, and she says the mansion’s size and disconnected living spaces mean they can live together without interacting.

Costner’s legal team previously said in court filings that ‘Kevin has acted in good faith and has done everything in his power to make the transition as seamless as possible,’ according to Insider.

He is being represented by the famous divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who reportedly served as an inspiration for Laura Dern’s lawyer character in Noah Baumbach’s critically acclaimed film Marriage Story, which earned Dern an Academy Award for best supporting actress.

It was previously reported that Baumgartner is seeking $248,000 per month in child support payments. She and Costner share three children: sons Cayden, 15; and Hayes, 14; along with their younger daughter Grace, 13.

However, Costner has said in other filings that he believes he should only pay around $38,000 per month.

Earlier this week, The Sun reported that Costner was ‘blindsided’ when he was served divorce papers by his wife, as he thought that he would be the first to file.

The Waterworld actor ‘sat his family down, told them he and their mum were getting a divorce and his lawyer was getting the paperwork drawn up,’ a source claimed to the publication.

‘He wanted everything to be peaceful for the sake of his kids and told Christine he didn’t want a messy divorce because he’d already been through one,’ they continued.

But ‘first thing the next morning, boom, Christine sneak attacks him and serves him with her own set of divorce papers.

‘Kevin was so shocked,’ the source added. ‘Christine has since made him look terrible, and has continued to do so.’

However, Baumgartner has previously shared a different, less flattering version of how their children learned of their impending divorce.

In a court filing obtained earlier this month by People, she claimed that Costner told the three children about the divorce via a Zoom chat while he was in Las Vegas filming on location.

The handbag designer added that she was not present during the Zoom call, and she noted that she was puzzled about why the children had to be told in that way, as Costner would be returning home in a matter of days.

‘I am still confused by his motivation to do this via a very short Zoom session, especially since he was planning on being home five days later,’ she wrote.

She added that she feared the children might learn of the split from an outside source, and she shared research with him that she had done that indicated a unified front with both parents was the best way to announce the divorce to the kids.

However, Baumgartner claimed that Costner was adamant about sharing the information before her and on his own.

‘He disregarded my proposal to do what I felt was right based on research and my relationship with the children. Instead, he insisted that he had the right to tell them that we were getting divorced “first” and tell them privately “without me present,”‘ she claimed.

It’s unclear if the alleged Zoom session could be the same event described by the source, or if there may have been two dates at which Costner spoke to the children about his separation from Baumgartner.
