The former ice hockey star is said to have fallen from the 23rd floor of a hotel in Miami.

Local police have ruled out foul play in Koltsov’s death.

Sabalenka, 25, had been dating Koltsov since the summer of 2021, but has now revealed that they were no longer together at the time of his death.

In a statement on her Instagram Story, World No2 wrote: “Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy and even though we were no longer together, my heart is broken.

“Please respect my privacy and that of his family during this difficult time.”

Sabalenka is in Florida for the Miami Open.

The second seed still plans to play the Masters 1000 tournament and, after receiving a first-round bye, will face close friend Paula Badosa on Friday.

In preparation for the tournament, Sabalenka, dressed in black, practiced on site.

Koltsov’s ex-wife Julija Mikhailova, with whom he had three children, claims he was “most likely drunk” when he died.

She told a Belarusian outlet Zerkalo: “Most likely he was very drunk. Unfortunately, hockey players are sometimes guilty of this.

Defeated US Open finalist Aryna Sabalenka fights back tears as she ‘sacks her team’ in post-match interview

“Empty alcohol bottles were found in the room where Konstantin stayed. There was a balcony overlooking the ocean. It is likely that Konstantin did not keep a record of his actions.

“We still have the old family computer with Konstantin’s email. I knew the passwords and managed to open some emails.

“Konstantin had also booked apartments at another location.

“Purchases that have not yet been received have been paid for. He has rented a car for a long time.

“That is, he did not mean to die. Of course, anything can go to your head, but there was no sign of tragedy.”

There is no evidence that Koltsov had been drinking before his death.

Koltsov stayed at the St Regis Bal Harbor Resort in Miami.

He is survived by children Daniel, 18, Alexander, 16, and Stefan, five.

‘IT IS A VERY DIFFICULT SITUATION’

Ahead of her scheduled meeting with Sabalenka, Badosa said: “It is a very difficult situation.

“I spoke to her yesterday. Same thing this morning. I know the whole situation, what’s happening.

“That’s also a bit shocking for me to experience that, because at the end of the day she is my best friend and I don’t want her to suffer. It’s a very difficult situation.”

The 26-year-old Spaniard then added: “It’s also uncomfortable to play against her.

“But I don’t really want to talk about it because I said I’m not going to talk about it.

“She is my best friend and I promised that. She is a strong woman. I think she will get the strength from somewhere. I hope it will be a battle, a good match.”

‘IT IS SO HARD’

After beating Clara Burel, Caroline Wozniacki said: “I can’t even imagine what she’s going through. I’m crying too. It’s such a terrible situation. It’s so hard.”

“I contacted her and told her I was here if she needed anything.

“I love Aryna. She is such a wonderful person. She is always so happy and out there. It’s heartbreaking to see her go through that.

‘Everyone grieves in a different way. She walked by today. I gave her her space.

“I let her know that if she ever needs anything, I’m here for her.”

Sabalenka’s father Sergey, also a former ice hockey player, died in 2019 at the age of 43.

The two-time Grand Slam champion later said: “I’m just trying to fight because my dad wanted me to be number one.

“I do it for him, so that helps me to be strong now.”

Sabalenka successfully defended her Australian Open title in January.

She also became world number 1 for the first time last September after reaching the final of the US Open.

The Minsk-born star last saw action a week ago when she was defeated by American Emma Navarro in the round of 16 of Indian Wells.

You are not alone

A life is lost to suicide EVERY 90 minutes in Britain

It makes no distinction and touches the lives of people in all corners of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It is the leading cause of death among people under 35, deadlier than cancer and car accidents.

And men are three times more likely to kill themselves than women.

Yet it is rarely talked about, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice now.

That’s why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that we can all do our part to save lives, by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health.

Let’s all pledge to ask for help when we need it, and listen to others… You are not alone.

If you, or someone you know, needs help dealing with mental health issues, the following organizations offer support:

The cause of death of Aryna Sabalenka’s boyfriend has been revealed, with Miami police reporting an ‘apparent suicide’.

Konstantin Koltsov, who played hockey for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, was declared dead by his former club Salavat Yulaev Ufa on social messaging site Telegram on Tuesday after the coach had a three-year relationship with Australian Open champion Sabalenka, 25 .

Sabalenka is in Miami preparing for the upcoming Miami Open, where she is seeded second, and Koltsov is said to have joined her in Florida before his shock wore off.

“It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Salavat Yulaev’s coach, Konstantin Koltsov, has passed away,” the Russian club’s statement read.

‘He was a strong and cheerful person, he was loved and respected by players, colleagues and fans. Konstantin wrote himself into the history of our club forever.

‘Koltsov won the Russian Championship and the Gagarin Cup as part of Salavat Yulaev and did a great job in the team’s technical staff.

“May his memory burn brightly.”

In a statement released Tuesday, Miami-Dade police confirmed that Bal Harbor police and firefighters were dispatched to the St Regis Bal Harbor Resort early Monday morning.

“The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, responded and has taken over the investigation into the apparent suicide of Mr. Konstantin Koltsov. No foul play is suspected,” the statement concluded.

Earlier on Tuesday, Belarusian media outlets reported Telegraph reported that Koltsov died of “a dislodged blood clot.”

The death of the world number two’s partner comes just five years after the player lost her father Sergey following his sudden death at the age of 43.

Like Koltsov, Sabalenka’s father had also played professional hockey, and the Belarusian athlete has often spoken about the motivation her father gave her in her tennis playing.

After winning her second Australian Open title in January, Sabalenka achieved a feat she previously discussed in an episode of Netflix’s tennis docu-series Break Point.

“We had one dream: that I would win a few Grand Slams before I was 25,” said the then 24-year-old.

“Now I’m 24 and there’s zero in my pocket.”

Sabalenka and Koltsov are believed to have been dating for three years after they were first linked in June 2021 and the world number two has regularly posted photos of them together on her Instagram account.

“I love you @koltsov2021,” she wrote in a message with hearts and other emojis.

“Happy birthday my love. You are my dearest person, my best friend and my strongest support. Peace be with you, strength, patience and health.

‘I hope we get everything we planned. I love you.’

On International Women’s Day, Koltsov shared a photo gallery of Sabalenka, dedicated to the tennis star, with the caption: “Happy holidays, my dear, I love you dearly.”

Two months ago, Koltsov personally supported Sabalenka in Melbourne and watched her lift the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup for the second year in a row.

Koltsov is said to have three sons from his previous relationship with his ex-wife Yulia, named Daniel, Alexander and Stefan.

In the wake of the tragedy, fellow WTA tour member Sloane Stephens appeared to respond to the news on Twitter, writing: “That moment when you can actually feel the pain in your chest when you hear or see something that breaks your heart (broken heart ). emoji).’

The former world number three did not refer directly to Sabalenka, but many fans on social media site X believe her post was written in light of the news in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Sabalenka lost to Emma Navarro in the last 16 at Indian Wells last week after knocking out former US Open champion Emma Raducanu, and is scheduled to play her first match at the Miami Open on Friday March 2022.

Known for his speed on the ice, Koltsov won the 2008 Russian Super League title with Salavat Yulaev and recently returned to the club as an assistant coach.

Koltsov was previously part of the technical staff of Dinamo Minsk and Spartak Moscow, and was also head coach at Brest and Dinamo Maladzyechna.

ARTHUR CAZAUX has been forced to withdraw from his match against Harold Mayot after collapsing on the pitch.

As Cazaux lay on his back, a medic ran onto the court to help him.

The referee then also got out of his chair and walked over to inspect the scene.

According to Cracked Racquets reporter Damian CoastCazaux was taken off the track in a wheelchair after his retirement.

Mayot won the first set 6-4, before Cazaux fought back to take the second 7-5.

The 22-year-old was serving at 1-2, 30-30 in the deciding set when Cazaux fainted while waiting for his return.

The temperature in Miami today reached 31 degrees Celsius, with humidity around 70 percent.

Mayot will now meet former world number 7 David Goffin for a place in the main draw.

After receiving criticism on social media for his response to Cazaux’s collapse, Mayot wrote: ‘Stop starting a false controversy for nothing.

“It was a few games ago that he wasn’t feeling well and started having cramps.

“I didn’t see him fall and I thought he was down because he had cramps. When I understood that it was serious, I immediately went to him and was very worried.

‘I did my best to help. There is nothing but a great friendship and complicity between us, and there always has been.

“You need to stop sending your hate all the time. I wish him a good recovery and all the best.’

Cazaux currently sits at career-high 74 in the ATP rankings.

Last week he reached the round of 16 of a Challenger event in Phoenix, Arizona, where he lost a close match to former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini.

Earlier this year he made a huge breakthrough by reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open.

He defeated Laslo Djere in the first round before memorably pulling off a huge upset by knocking out eighth seed Holger Rune in the second.

Cazaux backed up the result by beating 28th seed Tallon Greekpoor in round three.

He then bowed out to ninth seed Hubert Hurkacz in the last 16.

After his enormous result Down Under, Cazaux was given a hero’s welcome in his hometown of Montpellier.

He performed a ceremonial kick-off during Montpellier’s Ligue 1 match against Lille in January, before competing in the Open Sud de France the following week.

Some restaurants may promise an extraordinary experience, but none can deliver in this way.

Two-Michelin star chef Rasmus Munk, from Alchemist in Copenhagen, has announced that he will offer guests the chance to have a meal at the edge of space.

Next year, six lucky – and extremely wealthy – tourists will get the chance to fly in a ‘space balloon’ 3.5 kilometers above sea level.

During the six-hour experience, each diner will be served dishes inspired by the role of space exploration.

But at an astronomical price of $495,000 (£388,535) per ticket, this could be a high price to pay for a restaurant with (literally) no atmosphere.

A two-Michelin-starred chef has unveiled plans to serve a unique dinner aboard a space balloon (pictured) at the edge of space

The culinary expedition takes place aboard Space Perspective’s Neptune spaceship.

Despite its name, this spacecraft is not actually a spaceship, but rather a pressurized capsule suspended beneath a huge hydrogen balloon.

Without rockets or jet engines, the flight should be so gentle that anyone can participate without any training.

The balloon is planned to take off from Florida at a fairly gentle speed of 12 miles per hour.

At the highest point, guests can look down on Earth through the largest window ever launched into space.

According to Mr Munk, dinner will be served as guests watch the sun rise over the curvature of the Earth.

Importantly, he notes that the craft will not enter microgravity during the flight, so guests and food will not experience any weightlessness.

Space Neptune: key facts

Ticket price: $125,000 (£100,000)

Taking off from: Florida

Experience lasts: 6 hours

Cost per minute: £277

Weightlessness: No

Height: 20 miles

Is it technically space? No

First flight: End of 2024

Passengers: 8

Mr Monk said: ‘In this experience, I want to highlight food as a common thread in our human existence, and it will be truly meaningful to serve it while gazing at the curvature of the Earth.

“I am honored to be part of what I believe will be a once-in-a-lifetime, transformative experience.”

The company has kept the details of the menu vague, aside from the caveat that they can’t cook with an open flame.

Given how small the capsule is, it’s not clear if the food will actually be prepared on the vessel or if it will simply be served there.

But if it’s anything like previous menus at Alchemist, the dinner will undoubtedly feature a host of new techniques.

Previous menu items, or “impressions” as the restaurant calls them, have included carpenter ants in candy, a cod eye gel and a dessert served in a silicone cup.

In 2010, the restaurant even created a sakura blossom dish for the Japanese space agency.

This dish was created for two astronauts Naoko Yamazaki and Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, who wanted to be reminded of the cherry blossom season in space

While it’s obviously extremely decent, the mission to dine six people in space is also keen to promote its socially conscious reputation.

Guests will ascend to the edge of space on the world’s first ‘carbon neutral spaceship’.

All proceeds will be donated to the Space Prize Foundation, a charity committed to improving the role of women within the space industry.

Alchemist also suggests that the experience of looking down on everyone on Earth can be “a sobering reminder that our fates are intertwined.”

Roman Chiporukha, founder of SpaceVIP, which organizes the experience, said: ‘This maiden voyage is just the first chapter in SpaceVIP’s mission to harness the transformative power of space travel to elevate human consciousness and shape the course of our collective evolution to give.’

The effect of looking at Earth from space, also called the overview effect, is a psychological phenomenon reported by some astronauts upon reaching space.

Those who visit space sometimes report feeling a change in consciousness or a connection to the fragility of the Earth.

In its statement, Alchemist writes that seeing Earth from space “has the power to create a cognitive shift and inspire a greater appreciation for Earth and a deep connection with humanity as a whole.”

But whether showing people the Earth while they enjoy a half-million-dollar dinner will actually break down the barriers that divide us remains to be seen.

Currently, Space Perspectives has yet to launch its first commercial flights, but it hopes to do so before the end of the year.

If successful, the company could join a number of other companies vying to provide the first wave of space tourism.

An 11-year-old boy in Florida who wielded a butcher knife and threatened to kill himself and his sister during a tantrum over a video game has been tasered by officers.

Wesley Hinton became angry after the dispute and grabbed a knife before his 10-year-old sister called 911 during the Jan. 20 incident.

Officers try to get him to drop it and he puts it down for a moment before he appears to pick it up again and he is tasered.

“It looked like I was trying to get it again, but I was about to do this and then – shot,” Wesley said WTVJ.

“According to the deputy, the young man continued to repeat that he intended to harm himself,” a spokesperson for the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

“And at one point the deputy said he ran that big knife over parts of his body, stomach, wrist and chest.

Housing affordability in NSW has hit horrific record lows, with families forced to give up more than half of their weekly income just to keep a roof over their heads.

The Real Estate Institute of Australia report shows families in NSW were forced to spend 58.5 per cent of their weekly income to pay home loan repayments.

The state ranked worst in housing affordability between October and December 2023, with average monthly payments rising by nearly $800 from the end of last year.

According to the report, renters in NSW fared slightly better, with the median household income needed to meet payments still the highest in the country despite declines.

Families were forced to spend almost a third (27.3 per cent) of their income on rent at the end of 2023, compared to 21.1 per cent in neighboring Victoria.

While families south of the Murray River fared better overall, according to the latest REIA report, both rental and housing affordability fell in the final quarter of 2023.

State residents had to spend 46.8 percent of their weekly income on home loan repayments, up 1.6 percent from the previous quarter.

According to the report, the Sunshine State came in a close third, with Queenslanders spending 45.1 per cent of their income on home loans and 22.3 per cent on rent.

South Australia and Tasmania followed closely, with families spending 44.3 percent and 43.4 percent of their income on loan repayments respectively.

The Northern Territory and the ACT were found to be the most affordable when it came to share of weekly income, followed by Western Australia.

Canberrans spent less than 20 per cent of their weekly income on rent and just over 35.2 per cent on their home loan repayments at the end of 2023.

Crucially, the report found that families in the ACT earned on average almost $800 per week more than their counterparts in NSW.

The average home loan was also about $170,000 smaller than its neighbor’s, although it was about $100,000 more expensive than WA and $170,000 more than the NT.

Families in the north of the country spent only 33 percent of their weekly income on their home loan repayments, and 24 percent on their rent.

Although marginally more expensive, according to the report, WA families still spent almost $600 more per month on their repayments in 2023 than in 2022.

The report also shows that the number of first home buyers increased by a whopping 16.8 percent in the final quarter of 2023, with approximately 31,445 families entering the market.

Despite having the worst statistics in the country for homeowners, NSW recorded more than 1,300 more first home buyers between October and December 2023 than in 2022.

Nevertheless, Victoria reported having the most first home buyers (10,000) and new home loans more broadly, just under 24,000, during that period.

South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the ACT all reported increases in the number of first home buyers, while Queensland and the Northern Territory remained stable.

A teenager pulled a gun during a fight on a busy Florida beach earlier this week, before running through a crowd with the weapon and fleeing into the ocean.

Felixander Solis-Guzman, 16, was arrested Thursday by Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies after the incident in New Smyrna Beach.

Shocking footage shows Solis-Guzman fighting with four individuals on the busy beach before pulling out a firearm.

Agency officers had been on the beach at the time of the incident and gave chase when Solis-Guzman dispersed the partygoers, with one shouting, “He’s got a gun!”

The officer who recorded the incident can be seen running after the teen with his gun raised, yelling at the teen, “Okay, motherfucker, drop the damn gun.”

Solis-Guzman continues to flee the scene with officers hot on his heels and begins running towards the ocean.

Five officers can be seen with guns drawn pointing at Solis-Guzman as he stands in the water at the edge of the beach.

Solis-Guzman begins to obey the officers after several minutes and drops the gun and a bag in the water before surrendering.

As officers bring him in, large crowds of spring breakers can be seen watching the events unfold.

Officers recovered the firearm and the bag from the water, which contained twenty small plastic bags of marijuana.

The teen was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years of age, improper exhibition of a firearm, committing a second-degree felony with a weapon, resisting a law enforcement officer, 2 counts of tampering with evidence and selling marijuana.

In addition to his charges, he was also arrested on seven active warrants out of Orange County, including robbery with a firearm and probation violation.

He was taken to the Volusia Family Resource Center for treatment before being transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

“He will now face adult charges and serious consequences for his reckless actions.” We welcome spring breakers, as long as they behave.”

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood added, “We don’t play around in Volusia County.

“Don’t let your child be the next to come here as a minor and end up facing a serious criminal as an adult.”

Groups of bikini-clad girls and jeering boys have flocked to Florida beaches as spring break began.

Some girls left little to the imagination and posed for photos in the ocean – presumably to make their friends stuck at home jealous of their tropical vacation.

Elsewhere, groups of half-dressed young people danced at daytime parties on beaches, in the backs of pickup trucks and on boats rented for the day.

As night fell on the beach, partygoers continued drinking late into the night as groups posed for photos outside bars and clubs.

During spring break last year, 488 arrests were made in Miami Beach, of which more than 230 were felonies, and more than 100 firearms were seized.

As a result, officials in Miami announced plans to implement stricter restrictions earlier this year.

City Commissioner Alex Fernandez, who urged Miami to announce this year’s spring break measures, sent an email to voters last weekend celebrating the quiet start to spring break.

In it, Fernandez wrote: ‘Don’t shoot. No stampede. No fatalities. What a difference.’ The city’s goal for weeks was to end Spring Break, which the New York Post said was a “failure.”

In a social media post whose headline used by the outlet was shared on social media, former Miami Mayor Philip Levine posted the headline with clapping hands emojis.

There was an increased police presence along the beach in Miami, with officers on bicycles, buggies and SUVs patrolling the area. Others were seen leading K-9s among sunbathers on the crowded sand.

Police told Fox News that they made nine arrests between March 4 and 9, only two of which were related to spring breakers.

In contrast, there was barely a patch of open sand to be found on some parts of Fort Lauderdale Beach, often called “Spring Break Central.”

Police and the mayor’s chief of staff in Fort Lauderdale said it had been a successful week with limited crime, as they looked ahead to a tougher challenge – with continued celebrations coinciding with St. Patrick’s Day.

Local police spokesperson Casey Liening told Fox News: “Our spring break crowds have been as expected so far this year, with this week being the busiest week we expect. We haven’t had any major problems or disturbances.’

Ahead of spring break, Mayor Dean Trantalis said there were designated areas where alcohol was allowed, as well as safety measures including date rape drug testing, rideshare options and Narcan.

During a press conference in early March, Trantalis said, “We want to make your spring break experience the best experience you’ve ever had.

‘Why? Because we want you to come back. We want you to come back next year. We want you to come back for years to come, and you might want to make Fort Lauderdale your home.”

When Romeo Chicco tried to get car insurance in December, seven different companies turned him down. When he finally got insurance, it was almost double the rate he was previously paying. According to a federal complaint filed this week seeking class action status, this was because his 2021 Cadillac XT6 was spying on him.

Modern cars are called ‘smartphones with wheels’ because they are connected to the internet and packed with sensors and cameras. According to the complaint, an agent at Liberty Mutual told Mr. Chicco that he had been rejected because of information in his “LexisNexis Report.” LexisNexis Risk Solutions, a data broker, traditionally tracks drivers’ traffic violations, previous insurance coverage and accidents for insurers.

When Mr. Chicco requested his LexisNexis file, it contained details of 258 trips he had made in his Cadillac over the past six months. His file included the distance he had driven, when the trips started and ended, and a record of any speeding violations and hard braking or acceleration. The data was provided by General Motors, the manufacturer of its Cadillac.

In a complaint against General Motors and LexisNexis Risk Solutions filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Mr. Chicco accused the companies of violating privacy and consumer protection laws. The lawsuit follows a report by The New York Times that, unknown to consumers, automakers have shared information about their driving habits with the insurance industry, leading to higher insurance rates for some drivers. LexisNexis Risk Solutions and another data broker called Verisk claim to have the driving habits of millions of cars in the real world.

In his complaint, Mr. Chicco said he repeatedly called GM and LexisNexis to ask why his data had been collected without his consent. Ultimately, he was told that his data had been sent through OnStar — GM’s connected services company also named in the lawsuit — and that he had enrolled in OnStar’s Smart Driver program, a feature for obtaining driver feedback and digital badges for good driving behavior.

Mr. Chicco said he had not signed up for OnStar or Smart Driver, although he had downloaded MyCadillac, a General Motors app, for his car.

“What no one can tell me is how I signed up for it,” Mr. Chicco told The Times in an interview this month. “You can tell me how many times I accelerated hard between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on January 30, but you can’t tell me how I signed up for this?”

A GM spokeswoman, Malorie Lucich, previously said that customers signed up for SmartDriver in their connected car app or at the dealer, and that a clause in the OnStar privacy declaration explained that their data could be shared with ‘third parties’. Asked about the lawsuit, she said by email that the company was “reviewing the complaint,” and had no comment, instead pointing to a statement the company previously made about OnStar Smart Driver.

“GM’s OnStar Smart Driver service is optional for customers,” the statement said. “Customer benefits include learning more information about their safe driving habits or vehicle performance, which, with their consent, can be used to obtain insurance quotes. Customers can also unsubscribe from Smart Driver at any time.”

LexisNexis Risk Solutions, which previously said it analyzed the kind of driving data Mr. Chicco found in his file to create a risk score that it then sold to insurers, declined to comment.

“I would never have allowed this information to come out,” Mr. Chicco previously said. Reached after the lawsuit was filed, he said he had no comment.

David Vladeck, a law professor at Georgetown who previously headed the consumer protection bureau at the Federal Trade Commission, said the driving data companies collected was considered highly sensitive, meaning there should be “clear notice” to consumers and explicit consent to its collection. and sales.

Mr. Vladeck said he would expect an investigation by the FTC, as well as consumer lawsuits against the automakers and data brokers.

“Just wait for the avalanche,” he said. “It’s coming.”
