As children, we all wanted to grow up – and this little four-year-old is no exception.

Halston, four, is all about singing and dancing — and as her mom, Madison Fisher, recently revealed, her little toddler is also obsessed with “being beautiful.”

In fact, the girl loves being an adult so much that the mother thinks she's actually a “teenager,” admitting that Halston “takes it so seriously.”

Madison, believed to be from the US, also recently posted a video of the child pretending to be much older than her age, but the now viral video was quickly criticized by social media users, who insisted the behavior was anything but 'cute'.

In the images, shared on Halston's own Instagram pagethe four-year-old could be seen walking around the house in stylish cowboy boots, paired with a mini bag, and carrying a large phone.

As she walked past her mother who was filming her child's funny behavior, Halston was asked if she was “a real teenager” — to which the little girl immediately responded, “yes.”

''4 year old teenager? She's so serious about it,” the mom wrote in the video's caption alongside a few laughing emojis.

But while she may have found the pose funny, people on Instagram were anything but impressed, as thousands rushed to the comments to share their thoughts.

Many thought the mother of five would be in for a surprise as Halston gets older, with one warning her: ''She's going to be trouble''.

Someone else was just as baffled, wondering: ''Omg, sorry, but why doesn't she play with toys and wear colorful and ridiculous clothes like us?''

Another said: 'This is just sad. Not funny. Another child without a childhood.

“No rush to be an adult, you know, she'll be an adult most of her life.”

I'm a pushover mum – my little girl has £35 acrylic nails, kids don't do chores and they eat what they want

“Kids at Sephora are like:” wrote a fourth.

It wasn't all negative though, as there were also a lot of people who thought the pretend game was completely harmless fun.

One person hit back at the haters, writing: 'The outfit is completely appropriate even if it's dress-up and her attitude is clearly pretend.

“She's cute and I miss doing things like this with my little nieces.”

“4 years old and already an icon,” a supportive Instagram user added.

Another agreed, adding: ''For people taking it too seriously, CHILL it's not that deep!!

'It's just a kid dressing up in a cute outfit! She's a girly girl and that's totally fine!! She's a rock star. ''

At some point, all parents are faced with the dilemma of whether or not their child is ready for a phone. So at what age should you give your child one?

Carolyn Bunting, CEO of e-safety organization Internet Matters said: “Every child is different and whether it's a sign of maturity or peace of mind, parents intuitively know the right age for their child to get a smartphone.”

Tony Neate, CEO of Go online safelyadded: “The crucial point is to start introducing online safety as soon as they go online – whether that's on a laptop or tablet at home or on their first mobile – so internet safety is just one essential part of being online.

“We encourage you to make this conversation part of your daily life so that it becomes natural for children to discuss any safety concerns with their parents.”

Which phone is safe for a child at what age?

If you think your kids are ready for a phone, there are kid-friendly models available on the market.

For the most part, kids are ready for a phone by age 13. However, this depends on the maturity of the child and the need for the device.

Ofcom recommends using a standard handset if your child just needs a way to contact you in an emergency or to send short text messages.

If your kids just want to download apps, watch videos, or surf the Internet, your best bet is to buy a tablet.

If you stick to a phone, look for devices like the Monqi Kids Smartphone that allow parents to set limits on browsing, downloading and texting.

A six-year-old Perth boy and his four-year-old nephew have been identified as the ‘two bright sparks’ who died in a horror UTV crash on their grandmother’s farm.

The little boys were killed about 5.15pm on December 19 after coming off a UTV (all-terrain vehicle) and drowning in the swollen Waikāinga Stream on a property in Peria, east of Kaitāia on New Zealand’s North Island.

Emergency services, including two helicopters, rushed to the property believed to be owned by the boys’ grandmother.

Their bodies were recovered from the stream the next day.

The driver of the UTV and three others were able to get out of the water and were rushed to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

A devastated family member said the UTV crashed into a boulder before ending up in an 11-metre deep water hole at Waikāinga Stream.

They claimed there were no safety barriers.

The little boys were killed after coming off a UTV (all-terrain vehicle) and drowning in the swollen Waikāinga Current (pictured) at a property in Peria, east of Kaitāia on New Zealand’s North Island, about 5.15pm in December. 19

“On Friday, December 29, 2023 at approximately 5:15 p.m., two little bright sparks went out of our lives,” a family member posted on Facebook.

‘Cousins… aged 6, from Perth and… aged 4, from Taupaki, Auckland, were involved in a tragic UTV accident whilst on holiday in New Zealand’s far north, Peria, when the UTV in which they were traveling collided with a boulder, causing the vehicle to plunge into an 11 meter deep waterhole at Waikainga Stream, where no safety barriers were in place.”

The relative said their hearts were “broken and beyond repair” after the tragedy and described the boys as “cheeky, cheerful and full of adventure.”

‘Fly free with the locusts and butterflies, our little friend. We will always love you forever, even when you can’t see us and even on our darkest days… We will love you forever and ever,” she wrote.

Far North Mayor Moko Tepania sent his love and prayers to the families involved.

“We are extremely grateful for the first responders and the incredible work they do,” he said.

‘With thousands of manuhiri [guests and visitors] When I join the Far Northerners during the break, I ask whānau to take extra care when enjoying our area.”

Until January 7, people are not allowed to swim or fish locally.

The police are investigating on behalf of the coroner.

It started as a typical summer outing for Tim Wollak and his daughter, Henley, 4. On a clear morning on August 13, they set off in their 20-foot boat from the east coast of Wisconsin. The sky was blue and the water flat and calm, perfect conditions for them to explore the shallow waters of the bay and look for walleye, big-eyed game fish common in Lake Michigan.

But then, about three hours into their outing, Mr. Wollak, a 36-year-old medical equipment salesman, and Henley, who was two days away from her fifth birthday, found their lives intersecting with history.

A shipwreck from the 1871 Peshtigo fire was about to reveal itself.

As they chugged along the shoals of Green Island, their boat’s sonar provided images of shadows, sand and indistinct rock formations on the bottom of the bay about 10 feet below them. Then a group of long, slender objects came into view, forming a pattern far too regular to have been formed by erosion or waves. Mr. Wollak turned to his one-man crew.

“I immediately said, ‘Henley, come over here and take a look at this. What do you think it is?’ he said in a recent interview. “She thought it was an octopus.”

The Great Lakes served as an important commercial hub in the 19th century, providing a shipping passage to the East Coast via the Erie Canal. More than 3,000 ships have been lost in Lake Michigan, said Brendon Baillod, president of the Wisconsin Underwater Archeology Association.

Mr Wollak said he had occasionally come across lost ships, usually the odd rowboat, but he had never seen one so large. He navigated around the site trying to get a better view of the ship, which was partially buried. He took a photo of the sonar image and posted it online, marveling at the frame’s radiating ribs that his daughter had interpreted as tentacles.

On December 11, historians in Wisconsin looked at the footage and identified it as most likely the wreckage of the George L Newmana 30 meter long wooden ship with three masts that sank in 1871.

“The ship was abandoned, became covered in sand and largely forgotten – until it was uncovered last summer and located near the Wollaks,” according to the Wisconsin Historical Society. said in a statement.

The Wollak family lives in Peshtigo, northeastern Wisconsin, an area that flourished in the 19th century thanks to the logging industry, but also experienced fires and smoke due to the industry’s practices.

On October 8, 1871, the George L. Newman, carrying wood, was enveloped in smoke from a fire on land exacerbated by dry conditions. The Peshtigo fire Ultimately, it burned 1.2 million acres across parts of Michigan’s Northeastern and Upper Peninsula, killing an estimated 2,000 people, making it one of the deadliest fires in U.S. history.

The smoke was so thick that a lighthouse keeper kept the light on during the day on Green Island in the bay, but the George L. Newman became stuck on the southeastern tip of the island, according to the Wisconsin Historical Society. The crew was rescued, but the ship was lost.

After the historical society’s Maritime Preservation and Archeology Program noticed Mr. Wollak’s photographs, it worked with conservationists from the Department of Natural Resources to examine the wreck using a remotely operated vehicle, concluding that the site matched what was known about the ship’s fate.

Another survey to confirm its inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places is planned for spring 2024, the Historical Society said.

But Mr. Baillod said he was confident the George L. Newman had been found. The accidental discovery of wrecked ships, or what was left of them, in the clear waters of the lake has become easier with Google Earth and sonar, he said.

“People often drive over something and think it’s an old building or part of a dock, when it’s actually a historic ship,” he said.

However, there are no octopuses in the Great Lakes.

“Never been,” he said.

An aunt of Avigail Idan, the girl who was taken hostage by Hamas after seeing her parents brutally murdered and who turned four just days before her release, says her niece shared one piece of pita bread a day with four others, and that she did too. is not allowed to shower or bathe during her 50 days in captivity.

Avigail, who is a citizen of both Israel and the United States, was held with the four members of the Brodutch family with whom she was kidnapped on October 7. The Brodutches were neighbors of the Idan family on the kibbutz Kfar Aza, and Avigail had hidden with the family after her parents were shot.

According to Aunt Tal Idan, the five hostages were held in above-ground apartments, changing locations at least once. Every day they received a piece of pita bread with za’atar, a spice mixture from the Middle East, to share.

While in captivity, Avigail’s hair was cut because she had developed a significant case of lice, Ms. Idan said in an interview this week. “She was underneath it. It took quite a bit of effort to get her off some of it the first night,” she said.

“It was beautiful curly hair. And now it’s all gone. But it will grow again.”

When Avigail was released on Sunday, she was met at the border in Israel by her grandmother and an aunt. A military helicopter took them to a children’s hospital near Tel Aviv. The military gave her small, pink noise-canceling headphones that she could wear over her ears.

Avigail’s family was relieved to learn that she was not alone during her captivity, and that she was being cared for by Hagar Brodutch, while also caring for her own three children. “We are so grateful to Hagar,” Ms Idan said, calling the 40-year-old “our guardian angel”.

Since the Oct. 7 attacks, Ms. Idan and her husband have helped care for Avigail’s siblings, Michael, 9, and Amelia, 6, who were not kidnapped. Now, she said, the children are having to adjust to life without their parents.

“For all three of them, the focus is on helping them get a new lease on life – being able to feel safe again and sleep through the night without having nightmares,” she said.

On October 7, she witnessed the murder of her parents before being kidnapped. On Friday, almost seven weeks later, she celebrated her fourth birthday while in captivity. And she was finally freed on Sunday, when one of the Hamas hostages was freed under an agreement with Israel.

Her name is Avigail Idan. Avigail, whose name is also spelled “Abigail” in U.S. media reports, is a dual citizen of Israel and the United States, and was among about 240 people, including about 10 US citizenstaken hostage by Hamas on October 7.

After Avigail’s release, several members of her family expressed relief. “We are blessed to be able to give her lots of love and care and help her rebuild her life,” her aunt Tal Idan wrote in a text message. “It feels like a miracle that has come true,” she added.

Liz Hirsh Naftali and Noa Naftali, her great aunt and cousin, said in a statement that they had “hoped and prayed for it to come today,” and thanked President Biden and the Qatari government, which helped broker the ceasefire -the-fire.

Avigail’s case has received widespread attention, especially in the United States, where several of her relatives are based in California. President Biden expressed relief at the news of her release on Sunday.

“Thank God she’s home,” Mr. Biden said told reporters in Nantucket, Mass., on Sunday. “I wish I was there to hold her.”

Avigail’s parents, Roy Idan, 43, and Smadar Idan, 38, were fatally shot at the Kfar Aza kibbutz in the October attack. The family said that Mr. Idan held Avigail in his arms when he was killed, while her siblings, Michael and Amelia, watched the tragedy unfold.

Covered in her father’s blood, Avigail ran to a neighbor, her aunt, Tal Idan, said. The neighbor brought Avigail to his house to hide with his wife and children and then left the house to look for a gun. “Ten minutes later when he came back they were all gone,” Ms Idan said. Mrs. Idan and her husband, Amit Idan, have taken care of Avigail’s siblings, who survived the attack.

Although several hostages have been reunited with their loved ones in the three days since the ceasefire began, many families are still waiting for news of their relatives still in captivity.

Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, a US citizen, is among those still held by Hamas. Mr. Goldberg-Polin, a native of Berkeley, California, was at a music festival near the Gaza border in southern Israel when Hamas attacked on October 7. Members of his family believe he is in desperate need medical attention because part of his arm was blown off by a grenade the attackers threw before kidnapping him.

On Sunday, his father, Jon Polin, waited anxiously for news about his son. But he said he was “thrilled” for every hostage released so far and for their families.

“We, hostage families, are kind of becoming a different form of family,” he said. “So it’s really personal, even though I don’t know the hostages themselves, except for my son.”

“I am very happy that they will be reunited with their loved ones,” added Mr. Polin added. “That said, I want my son home and all the hostages home.”

Katherine Rosman reporting contributed.

Police have arrested a father, believed to be Turkish, who rammed his car through a security gate and threw Molotov cocktails on a runway at Hamburg Airport while holding his four-year-old daughter hostage in his car.

The situation had been ongoing for almost 18 hours, with German officials shutting the busy airport as negotiations with the 35-year-old, who has been named as Salman E by German newspaper Bild, continued throughout the night.

Hamburg Police added the released child appeared not be injured and the arrest was made without resistance. Hamburg Airport will remain closed while investigations continue, with ‘flight operations suspended indefinitely until further notice’.

Authorities believed the terrifying ordeal was sparked over a ‘custody dispute’ when the desperate wife of the gunman reported a possible child abduction, with the young girl said to be taken by force from her mother.

Last night, the armed man, said to be a Turkish national, ploughed his Audi, which had the licence plates removed, through an airport barrier at around 8pm local time (7pm GMT).

He fired a weapon twice and then threw two burning bottles out of the vehicle, police said. The driver then barricaded himself to the foot of a Turkish Airlines plane.

Bild reported that Salman had gone to the home of his ex-wife after using a false advertisement online, using a fake email address and fake name to reportedly meet his former partner and child.

He is then said to have kidnapped their daughter, speeding away towards the airport in his black Audi, the paper said.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Hamburg Police said this afternoon: ‘The hostage situation is over. The suspect got out of the car with his daughter. The man was arrested by the emergency services without resistance. The child appears to be unharmed.’

The airport added: ‘The situation at the airport remains unchanged, the police operation continues. Flight operations will remain suspended indefinitely until further notice.

‘The police action has ended. Preparations are underway to resume flight operations as quickly as possible. We are in close coordination with the security forces as to when the access roads and terminals will be reopened.’

Yesterday evening the airport was quickly shut down with 3,200 passengers reportedly being evacuated from planes parked on the runway.

This morning police psychologists attended the airport trying to negotiate a solution with the driver. Officers had been communicating to the man through a translator speaking in Turkish.

Access roads to the airport were closed off and members of the public were warned to stay away from any terminals as the negotiations continued.

The force said reiterated that traffic measures around the huge airport remain in place and that entering the airport remains impossible.

In an earlier update this morning, officers said they assumed the man ‘is in possession of a live firearm and possibly also explosive devices of an unknown type’.

‘Our top priority is protecting the child,’ the force said early today. ‘According to our current findings, the child is doing well physically.’

Hamburg Airport said that it remains closed this morning as the situation is ongoing

This morning, Police Hamburg and Hamburg Airport said the airport remained closed as negotiations with the father continue. The situation has now been ongoing for more than 12 hours

The mother of the abducted girl arrived at the airport today and was receiving psychological support, German news agency dpa reported.

‘The mother naturally wants to get to her child as quickly as possible,’ Malte Stueben, the head of the German Red Cross crisis intervention team in Hamburg, told dpa.

A paediatrician also arrived at the airport to look after the girl once the hostage-taking is over, the news agency reported.

Hundreds of people whose flights could not depart on Saturday night because of the situation were put up at hotels nearby.

Arriving planes were either re-routed to other German airports or cancelled.

Police spokeswoman Sandra Levgrun told the regional channel of public television NDR that it is believed a father and his child are in the car.

She called it a ‘very good sign’ that he had remained in contact with the authorities over a prolonged period of time.

The incident has caused major and ongoing disruption throughout one of Europe’s busiest airports.

On Saturday evening alone 17 flights scheduled to land in Hamburg were diverted. Another 286 flight are scheduled for today, carrying some 34,500 passengers.

At present 61 flights – 34 departures and 27 arrivals – have been cancelled, with more expected throughout the day.

Last night a large number of officers from state and federal police were on site and in the vicinity of the vehicle, federal police spokesman Thomas Gerbert told German news agency dpa.

Police said no one appeared to be injured, but the airport announced it was closed for takeoffs and landings.

Bild reported that the gunman drove in front of Terminal 1 in an Audi without a number plate.

The driver initially sped away but a few minutes later broke through a security barrier at the north gate and drove towards the planes.

He is said to have started fires in the airport area by throwing burning bottles out of the car which were described as ‘a kind of Molotov cocktails’ by police spokesman Mr Gerbert.

Footage shared on social media shows flames on the tarmac as fire crews rushed to the scene.

This is the adorable moment the Princess of Wales complimented a little girl on the braids in her hair during a visit to a parents’ association on Wednesday.

Kate, 41, met little Noa Redgrave, four, during her visit to the North London support group for fathers and their children.

The mother-of-three crouched down next to Noa and, holding her hand, asked if she could give her ‘lessons’ on how to make braids.

Kate said, ‘Do you think I can put braids in my hair? Or do I need longer hair? I’ll try, next time I’ll try.’

The princess took part in the Dadvengers ‘Dad Walk’ – an initiative by the group to help new parents feel better equipped for parenthood.

Kate showed her natural ease with the kids as she walked through a typically rainy London.

During the walk, Kate went ahead of a father’s group to hold a gate open while the father pushed their strollers through.

As they approached the park gate in Arnos Grove, the princess made a sweet gesture as she jumped to hold the gate open for the group members.

Founded in 2020, the Dadvengers group aims to provide the same support as mothers, with a focus on mental health support.

‘Dad Walks’ are a key part of the campaign as walking in the fresh air is known to ease mental health issues and boost serotonin.

The royal family happily took part in one of the walks and accompanied fathers to the park in Arnos Grove.

Kate looked chic for the occasion in a £725 Erdem ‘Lotus’ striped cashmere jumper, which she has worn several times.

Ideally dressed for the rainy weather, the royal mother of three teamed the look with dark blue jeans and another £200 repurposed khaki Barbour jacket and Blundstone Chelsea boots.

As the group walked towards the playground, Kate made a sweet gesture as she held the park gate open for the group members.

One dad commented: “Beautiful, thank you so much,” after Kate’s charming move.

After the first dads were through the gate, another member took over as Kate continued her conversation.

Once in the park, the group enjoyed their playtime, and the children’s giggles vibrated through the garden. Kate also smiled for photos with the lively Dadvengers and their children.

The visit was part of her ongoing Shaping Us project which focuses on the importance of early childhood.

The princess was accompanied on her visit by DJ and songwriter Jax Jones, one of the Shaping Us campaign champions.

Nigel Clarke, founder of Dadvengers, said: ‘Fathers play a hugely important role in their children’s lives from the start.

‘Even before their baby is born, fathers can get involved and Dadvengers is on a mission to support them to do that in a way that works for them.

‘We provide them with information and advice to look after their own wellbeing, while also supporting them to build the nurturing relationships and environment that we know are so important in the early years of their children’s lives.

“That’s what Dadvengers is all about.”

Kate previously described the Shaping Us initiative as her ‘life’s work’.

At a launch event in January, the Royal Family said: ‘The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the vital importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become.

‘During this time we lay the foundations and building blocks for life. And it is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and understand the world we live in.

“That’s why it’s essential to understand not only the unique importance of our earliest years, but also what we can all do to raise future generations of happy, healthy adults.”

The initiative is a long-term project of the Princess, starting with a child’s development and the importance of the formative years.

It will ‘explore in more depth the importance of a child’s social and emotional world’ and the meaning of relationships, ‘environment and experiences’.

‘And by understanding our own childhoods – what shaped our own beliefs, relationships, behaviors and feelings – we, as adults, are naturally better placed to play our part in positively shaping future generations,’ Kate added.
