  • A Reddit user wrote about her encounter with a server while she and her three-year-old son were in a chocolate shop
  • She and her son got free hot chocolate while they were there
  • The pair attended a doctor’s appointment earlier that day

A mother left a chocolate shop with a smile on her face thanks to the unconditional kindness of a waitress.

The woman created a Reddit post yesterday telling her story about what happened when she and her three-year-old son went to buy hot chocolate.

She and her son had just completed a doctor’s appointment, during which the doctor referred them to a speech therapist.

‘I had a really bad day with my three-year-old son who has autism. We went for a walk and he was cold, so I said we were going to get some hot chocolate.” she wrote.

The pair walked into ‘a little shop’ and ordered two small hot chocolates.

They both met their server and he tried to communicate with the three year old.

“The man said hello to my son, who is non-verbal, and did not respond,” she wrote.

‘He said again: hey little man! And my son turned his head. I looked at him and said, ‘Sorry, he’s non-verbal, he doesn’t talk.’

Once her son wanted to get out of his stroller, it became more difficult for the mother to cope.

‘Over there [were] no tables inside so I couldn’t take it out. “I felt other customers’ eyes on me and saw a woman whispering to her friend and they looked at me together,” she wrote.

Her son quickly changed his attitude after the waiter gave him a special treat.

The waiter walked over from behind the counter and handed the little boy “a cup of mini marshmallows.”

The little boy quickly calmed down and the waiter told the original poster (OP) that she looked like she was “struggling.”

“He handed me a large hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows, and when I said I was only asking for a small one, he said it was on the house,” she wrote.

“I tried to pay him anyway, and he said no, seriously, it’s okay. Enjoy your hot chocolate.”

The woman, who was having an overwhelming day, started crying outside after his act of kindness.

The waiter saw the mother crying outside and even offered her tissues and a table that had been cleared.

“I declined, but thanked him for being so kind, and he said you never know what someone is going through, so always be kind,” she wrote.

The OP revealed in a response that she couldn’t remember the name of the chocolate shop, but she might go back there someday.

Since she posted her heartwarming story, other Reddit users have left positive comments and stories about their experiences with servers or autistic children.

“When my husband and I were homeless, there was a barista at Starbucks who would always look out for us whenever we came in for something to eat or drink,” said one Reddit user.

“People like that have really restored my faith in humanity.”

Other users passed on their well wishes to the mother, with one person writing in his comment that “everything will be fine.”

“I would really like to leave a good review or SOMETHING to reward this company for something we all needed at some point,” one user commented on the post.

“Be the kindness you want to see in the world, even if it never changes.”

The property is only 6 meters wide and was probably built in 1621 by Dutch settlers, who came to Essex to work on the sea defenses.

The octagonal house is a Grade II listed building and is believed to be one of the few Dutch cottages left in Britain, and the only one owned by the council.

Fay pays just £75 a week to live in the cute thatched cottage, and is ecstatic with her tiny home.

Fay told MailOnline: “It’s compact and bijou, but it’s just such a beautiful place to live, it’s really quirky.”

Fay was one of fifty applicants who applied to live in the house, and the council decided she was best suited to live there.

She said: ‘I asked for it and hoped to get it. You had to write a letter explaining why you wanted to live here.

“I wrote and said I was only 6ft tall so I would be well suited for a small house.

“I don’t think it was the deciding factor, but I’m sure it helped.”

Fay’s house is so small that she had to have a special low bed made to fit into the small bedroom, which she can only access by a steep ladder.

The 49-year-old freelance director revealed that she has to open her tiny home to visitors once a week.

Inside the world’s narrowest house, only one meter wide, built ‘out of spite for the neighbors’ row’

“It’s basically like living in a museum,” she said.

However, she said she is the perfect tour guide as her surname is Flemish and is related to 17th century settlers who came to the east of England after facing persecution.

“The Dutch colonists built sea walls on the coast.

“Who knows, they may have been here?” she said.

Republicans in Congress continue to sprint for the exit.

Rep. Mike Gallagher, Republican of Wisconsin, announced Friday afternoon that he would resign from Congress months earlier than expected on April 19, bringing the already minuscule Republican majority to one vote.

After his departure next month, Republicans will hold 217 seats in the House of Representatives compared to Democrats’ 213, meaning the Republican Party can afford only a single deviation from the party line when it comes to voting when all members are present .

Mr. Gallagher, the four-term lawmaker who chairs the Special Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, gave no reason for his early departure in the brief statement announcing his plans. He simply said that “after discussions with my family, I have made the decision to resign from my position,” and that he has “worked closely with the Republican leadership of the House of Representatives on this timeline.”

But the leaders did not expect this. It came on a day that highlighted Republican disarray and division, as Speaker Mike Johnson pushed through a $1.2 trillion spending bill that sparked an uprising on his right flank and at least one of its members to begin the process of declaring of a vote to impeach him.

After Representative Ken Buck, Republican of Colorado, surprised Mr. Johnson this month with the announcement that he would soon resign, the speaker said he did not expect more members to follow suit.

“I think, I hope and believe that this is the end of exits for the time being,” he said less than two weeks ago.

Mr. Gallagher, one of three Republicans who voted against the ouster of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas, announced after that vote that he did not intend to seek another term — already an unusual move for a young committee chairman. It reflected the frustration many Republicans in the House of Representatives felt in what they described as a dysfunctional governing body.

Mr. Gallagher’s early departure will make it even more difficult for Mr. Johnson to pursue legislation that cannot deliver Democratic votes, and will give any Republican more leverage as the chairman tries to guide his uncontrollable majority through an election year.

On Friday, for example, with a majority of Republicans opposed to the spending measure, Mr. Johnson was forced to rely primarily on Democratic votes to pass it.

The current makeup of the House of Representatives leaves Republicans with virtually no buffer to deal with the inevitable absences caused by illness, travel delays, weddings, funerals and unforeseen events that could keep their members away from voting.

Next month, Democrats are likely to fill a safe seat occupied by Rep. Brian Higgins of New York, who left Congress to become president of Shea’s Performing Arts Center. In late spring and early summer, Republicans are likely to fill two solidly Republican seats vacated by Reps. Bill Johnson of Ohio, who left Congress to become president of Youngstown State University, and Kevin McCarthy, who resigned from his post. seat in California. late last year after he was removed from the speakership.

Mr. Gallagher’s announcement came on the same day that Mr. Buck was packing up the last of his belongings in his bare office on his last day in the House of Representatives, following his recent announcement that he too would shorten his final term.

Month-old robotics center Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center has so far provided minimal details about its latest project to release a prototype humanoid robot for general use.

But it assured that the robot will be created “soon.” South China Morning Mail reports.

The machines are expected to replenish China’s shrinking workforce as the vast economy looks to upgrade its growth engines with new technology-led “productive forces.”

An unnamed source from the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center told the Beijing Youth Daily: “It is the dream of every humanoid robot company to bring humanoid robots into thousands of households.”

It comes amid China’s fierce ongoing technology war with the United States, and as China faces serious demographic challenges – including a rapidly aging population – and a real estate market crisis.

The center was reportedly established late last year and includes both private and state-owned robot manufacturers.

A source described as a “responsible person” said leading robotics industry experts and researchers at the center were seeking “a common technological platform, public service platform and regulatory standards for the humanoid robot industry.”

They added: “In the future, humanoid robots may enter the automotive industry, 3C manufacturing (computer, communications and consumer electronics) and other fields, further improving the industrial production level.”

There are fears that humanoid robots could be yet another kind of “disruptive innovation” like computers, smartphones and new energy vehicles.

But China hopes to turn the humanoid robot sector into “a major new engine of economic growth” by 2027, according to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

AI robot that learns tasks by watching how to make coffee, bring food and chat as its creators hail two breakthroughs

The center’s humanoid robots are intended to be a technological convergence of artificial intelligence and new materials, and China hopes to make the country more self-reliant – and competitive with the US.

American companies such as Tesla and OpenAI-backed Figure are already working on humanoid robots.

Tesla’s $20,000 (£16,000) Optimus robot, the prototype of which was unveiled in September 2022, was expected to be mass produced within three to five years.

According to a November report from the Research Institute of People’s Daily Online, China is currently the second-largest holder of patents on humanoid robots, with 1,699, after Japan.

The MIIT announced last year its plans to mass-produce humanoid robots by 2025 – about 500 robots per 10,000 employees.

The company believes the robots will be useful for industries such as healthcare, agriculture and logistics.

New plans suggest that China could soon replace human soldiers with robots in future war scenarios.

Advanced robotic soldiers and high-tech drones are expected to be sent to complex overseas missions within the United States next one 10 years.

Doing it wrong can make your house look cheap.

There were some curtain trends she couldn’t tolerate.

For example, she would rather burn the ‘clunky’ decor than have it in her home.

Throw it away and opt for a custom look for much less, she said.

Felicia appears as Avec Moi Interiors (@avecmoi_interiors) on TikTok.

She proudly describes herself as a ‘self-taught interior designer’.

She loves all things ‘home and DIY’.

But her window treatments after has gone viral with over 123,000 likes and spawned a lively comments section.

“Things that make your house look cheap,” she said in her video.

She started by directing her anger at a particular style.

SLEEVE HOOKLESS CURTAINS

“If you have these in your house, burn them,” she said.

She was referring to the hookless sheet.

“These are not only large and bulky, but also visually heavy and expensive.

My renter-friendly privacy hack costs $7 on Amazon – I make a small adjustment so I can see outside, but people can’t see in_TikTok_erikadoesitherself

“We’re going to opt for custom curtains instead,” she said.

Don’t worry about the costs because there was a way to do this without any strain on your bank balance, she thought.

“You look for a ring and hook system or folding hooks, from Amazon or Ikea.

“That will help you achieve this custom look on a budget,” she wrote.

DRAPERY BAR DETAIL

Who knew there was a proper position for a curtain rod? Felicia did that.

“If it’s installed right above your window, it looks cheap,” she said.

“Make sure it is installed two inches below your ceiling line or molding.”

Follow this tip and the ceiling will look higher.

“It will also achieve the bespoke designer look we are aiming for,” she said.

MORE DRAPERY BAR DETAIL

Who knew where the curtain rod was actually supposed to end? Felicia did that.

“Your curtain rod shouldn’t end where the window ends,” she said.

“Instead, you want it to extend at least 12 inches beyond the window frame.”

CURTAIN STACKING DETAIL

Drape stacking is one thing and Felicia explained why we should all pay attention.

“Next, we want to make sure we create the right visual stack for our curtains.

“Stack refers to the way curtains look when they are pulled back,” she said.

The secret is that it should look proportional to the room.

“The way you know you have the right stack is to measure the width of the window and multiply it by two.

“That will give you the total width of the curtains you should put on your windows,” she said.

CURTAIN LENGTH DETAIL

Curtain length etiquette

There’s a right way and a wrong way to decorate your windows, according to self-taught interior designer Felicia. The length of the sheet is crucial.

Brushing the floor:

  • The perfect length
  • Not too short or too long, just right
  • “Your curtains should kiss the top of the floor”

Too short to reach the floor:

  • Never go too short on the front of the drape
  • It is an unforgivable sin in interior design
  • Once you’ve entered this area, change the curtains

Breaking the floor:

  • This isn’t ideal, but okay
  • These curtains hit the floor with just a little spillage
  • If you have such curtains, make sure they are folded and properly organized

Joining the floor:

  • Again, this is not ideal
  • If your curtains are on the floor, there will be more spills than above them
  • At least they are not too short

The margin for error is small and Felicia showed how to get it right every time.

First, make sure they are never too short. That’s a faux pas too far.

“Brushing the floor is absolutely ideal,” she said.

“You want your curtains to kiss the top of your floor.”

Soon your curtains will break through the floor and that’s okay, but with one condition.

“If you want to break them, make sure they are folded and organized properly,” she said.

Finally, longer than comfortable pooling is mentioned.

“Not ideal, but still better than short,” she said.

Commentators had a field day.

“I totally disagree with the curtains. The rings look like my grandma’s house,” said one.

“Custom shutters instead. Curtains are outdated and difficult to clean,” said another.

But there were those who agreed with her recommendations.

“All these things you mentioned are very true,” one fan wrote.

“My mother has been a professional designer for over 50 years and I learned all this,” said another.

The real estate agent who accidentally set fire to a $3.2 million home before an open house inspection had previously had a relationship with the owner, court documents show.

Julie Bundrock’s employer, Domain Residential Northern Beaches, was ordered to pay $862,315 to the owner and four tenants for negligently causing a fire that burned the house to the ground.

It can now be revealed that Mrs Bundrock was previously in a relationship with Peter Bush, who was preparing to sell the house at the time of the incident. news.com.au reported.

When questioned by Bush’s barrister, Dominic Priestley SC, Ms Bundrock said the pair had dated when they were younger and were still friends in 2019.

Ms. Bundock is not accused of any criminal wrongdoing and there is no indication that she acted with malicious intent when she accidentally started the fire.

Earlier this week, Daily Mail Australia revealed Ms Bundock herself owns two coastal properties.

The Northern Beaches real estate agent accidentally set the Avalon Beach home on fire in 2019 after noticing the current tenants had left some bedding on the deck to dry.

She threw the sheets on a shelf in a room downstairs and then turned on a lamp placed above the shelf.

Twenty minutes later a fire broke out and destroyed the entire house. It is believed that the light heated the bedding until it ignited.

Ms Bundock, who no longer works for Domain Residential Northern Beaches, has an extensive property portfolio on Sydney’s North Shore.

She owns a two-bedroom Queenscliff unit with panoramic views of the nearby beach.

She bought the clifftop property in 2004 for just $785,000 and now rents the apartment on vacation rental website Stayz for $695 per night.

‘A very private and peaceful area, the highest point of the hill. Enjoy the sounds of the waves and enjoy the sunrises over the ocean and beautiful sunsets over the hills,” she describes on the property listing.

‘Luxuriously furnished with designer finishes, recently renovated with luxurious carpets and an open plan living area leading through sliding glass doors to an extensive wrap-around balcony.

‘Designer kitchen and bathroom, king size main area, very comfortable second, views and built-ins in both. Sep toilet with sink. Study room, unlimited WiFi, washer-dryer combination, closed garage with automatic door.’

She also owns a nearby property in Dee Why, which she bought in 2007 for $290,000.

Ms. Bundock is no stranger to luxurious living.

On social media she shares photos of holidays to Vincentia in Jervis Bay and lavish trips to the snow.

On Tuesday, Avalon owner Peter Bush filed a complaint in court, along with the four tenants who lost everything in the 2019 fire.

Mr Bush told the court that Mrs Bundock said words to the effect of: ‘Oh my God Pete, I think I burned down your house’, and she did so in front of others.

‘I was doing some cleaning up. “I gathered some sheets that were drying on the porch and threw them on a free-standing metal shelf in the bedroom under the stairs,” Ms. Bundock reportedly told Mr. Bush.

‘I just threw them there, Piet, right against the light on the wall. I think that’s what started the fire.”

On Tuesday, Ms Bundock’s employer argued in court that the four tenants who rented the property at the time were responsible for the fire.

The defense stated that the tenants left the house “untidy,” forcing Mrs. Bundock to remove the bedding from the deck before the open house.

During her cross-examination, Ms Bundock said the house was ‘particularly messy’ that day and she was making it ‘presentable for sale’.

Chief Justice David Hammerschlag ruled that Ms Bundock ‘actively created the risk of fire and resulting damage’.

‘It is obvious that a fire can start if you put or throw bed linen against a burning light. That risk was clearly foreseeable, and Bundock should have known,” Hammerschlag said in his decision, also noting that the officer was an “aggressive and uncooperative witness.”

“Her evidence was clearly colored by a heightened sense that she had caused the catastrophe,” he said.

Mr. Hammerschlag ordered Ms. Bundock’s employer to pay Mr. Bush $740,642 for the loss of his home and a total of $121,475 to the four tenants, plus interest.

Jesse Baird’s housemates are moving out of the Sydney rental home where he and his friend were allegedly murdered by an ex-cop and left under a tarpaulin in the property’s courtyard overnight.

Beau Lamarre-Condon allegedly used his police-issue Glock pistol to shoot the former Channel Ten presenter and his new friend Luke Davies three times on the Paddington terrace on February 19.

Mr Baird’s housemates arrived home later that evening to find the house in disarray and went to bed, unaware that the couple lay dead in the courtyard.

They rented the three-bedroom terrace in April last year for $1,200 a week, but it is understood they terminated the lease earlier than expected in the wake of the tragedy.

Furniture and household items – including outdoor sofas, towels and armchairs – were dumped on the pavement outside the house on Thursday.

Among the items were a disco ball, a pink heart painted on cardboard and a yellow football placed just inside the gate of the property with a handwritten poem for the deceased couple.

It read: ‘Jesse and Luke, gone like that, forever out of reach. Memories linger as hearts slowly break. Tears fall like rain when grief takes over, the pain of loss is a story often told.”

Among the furnishings were Ikea-style shelves and cabinets, outdoor cushions, two brown swivel armchairs and a box containing a washcloth and towels.

On Thursday morning, the property appeared to no longer be on the market. If it is listed again, the agent will have to tell potential renters or buyers that it was an alleged murder scene.

Detectives allege the killings were a premeditated attack after a months-long campaign of “predatory behavior” against Mr Baird, with whom Lamarre-Condon had a brief “friends with benefits” relationship.

Police say Mr Davies, a Qantas flight attendant, was killed because he happened to be at the Paddington property when Lamarre-Condon – who was a senior officer at the time – turned up.

About 12 hours later he is said to have collected the bodies into a white rental van and taken them to a remote farm in Bungonia, about 180 kilometers south of Sydney.

Among the items left on the footpath was garden furniture (photo). After their death, the couple was said to have been left outside in the courtyard overnight

He is said to have returned to the site to move the bodies to another location in Bungonia, about a 20-minute drive from the original location.

An extensive search was conducted for the couple, but Lamarre-Condon initially did not want to tell police where their bodies were located.

He then spoke with an attorney on February 27, over a week after the alleged murders.

The remains of Mr Baird and Mr Davies were found in surfing bags that afternoon.

In the days after the tragedy, friends and passers-by left bouquets of flowers on Paddington’s terrace.

Sunflowers, roses, dahlias, chrysanthemums and tulips were placed along the iron gates of the building.

Lamarre-Condon was charged with two counts of murder and is currently in the Silverwater Correctional Complex, in Sydney’s west.

He will appear in court at the Downing Center in Sydney on April 23.
