A Jetstar plane had to make an emergency stop on the runway just before takeoff after a latch on the plane was left open.

The airline’s JQ739 flight from Melbourne to Launceston on Saturday reportedly “overran the runway” when the pilot aborted the takeoff and brought the plane to an abrupt stop.

It is understood that the door to a small communications panel on the underside of the aircraft, near the wheels, had been left open.

The ground crew uses the communications panel to connect their headsets.

“We were just running down the runway in Melbourne to take off and the pilot literally hit the brakes because apparently air traffic control had told them there was a door open on the plane when they were trying to take off,” one passenger told the sender. Herald Sun.

Another passenger said the pilot was warned about the lockout by air traffic control seconds before they were about to take off.

‘We wanted to go for it on the runway, but we had to make an emergency stop. They hit the brakes. Someone from the tower said the door was open,” the passenger said.

Jetstar said the Airbus A320 was traveling at a low speed before coming to a stop.

“The captain stopped taking off at low speed because a small hatch of 10 x 20 cm at the front of the aircraft was open,” an airline spokesperson said.

‘The open hatch does not affect the safety of the aircraft during flight. The plane took off shortly afterwards and has since arrived in Launceston.’

Melbourne Airport said the flight was turned around just before departure.

“After taxiing to the runway, flight JQ739 aborted take-off and returned to the gate this afternoon due to a technical issue,” a spokesperson said.

‘The problem resulted in a flight delay of just under an hour and a half, with the aircraft taking off safely at 4.41pm.’

With the upcoming feature, WhatsApp not only aims to give users more freedom in choosing security, but also protect the app from unauthorized access.

WhatsApp is working on a new app lock feature for users.

New Delhi: Meta-native messaging app WhatsApp recently introduced the app lock feature, which aims to improve security and privacy for its users. The update included multiple authentication methods to effectively protect user data. In a recent beta update, WhatsApp is working on introducing a new, improved version of this feature. While the app lock feature is designed to provide an extra layer of security for WhatsApp users, the new update app lock feature includes allowing users to unlock the app uses various authentication methods (such as fingerprint, face, or device passcode) to open WhatsApp.

Here are more details about the newly launched WhatsApp App Lock feature.

Feature update for WhatsApp app lock

WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a feature that will allow certain beta testers to unlock the app using different authentication techniques, according to a WABetaInfo report. When this option is activated, accessing WhatsApp requires the use of a fingerprint, face, or other unique identifier (such as the device passcode). Users who chose other methods or whose devices did not have biometric sensors were limited by the fact that this option was previously only available with biometric authentication. With the addition of additional unique identifiers, such as the device passcode, to its authentication options, WhatsApp now serves a broader range of users with different device capabilities and preferences.

How can the WhatsApp App Lock feature help?

The new feature will likely add this extra layer of security, marking a significant improvement in user privacy and personal data protection. By offering different authentication options, WhatsApp not only gives users more freedom, but also strengthens the security of their accounts against unauthorized access. Moreover, the feature will come in handy especially for users who have faulty or broken biometric sensors on their devices. They might find this functionality particularly useful. With this update, WhatsApp ensures that users experiencing such issues can securely access their accounts by offering the option to use alternative authentication techniques, such as a device passcode.

WhatsApp Other recent updates

Another feature WhatsApp is working on is mentioning contacts in status updates. Users are notified immediately when they appear in a status update. In a future edition, users will have the ability to include specific contacts directly in their status updates. As a result, their updates will more easily attract and maintain attention.

With the new update, the engagement between users using the status updates is significantly increased through the mentions feature. The feature that allows users to post contacts directly into their updates will improve their communication with the people who matter most to them. Additionally, WhatsApp can enable better communication by ensuring that users are regularly informed of relevant status updates. When users receive notifications when they are mentioned in a status update, they are more likely to engage with the content by commenting or taking action.

James Lock has revealed he suffers from body dysmorphia, which causes him to ‘constantly fight, compete and compare himself to others’.

The TOWIE star, 37, who has appeared on the ITVBe show since 2013, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday to discuss his condition with presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls and Conservative MP and GP, Dr Luke Evans.

He admitted that criticism on social media led to him undergoing a number of surgical procedures – including a rhinoplasty, otoplasty (putting the ears back) and hair transplantation – as well as the use of steroids.

Although he admitted that he knows he is “a handsome man” and is “a confident man” to some extent, James admitted that he will “always find fault with himself.”

He told the trio: ‘I can sit here now and I know I look good and I’m in good shape, but I’ll still find fault… It’s a constant battle with yourself and even though you look look inside the mirror, you don’t see what other people see.’

James talked about how he can be “rational” about his problems one minute, but the next he can be at work on a photo shoot and spend the entire day criticizing himself about the way he looks.

He said: ‘I can sit here and be rational about it, but a few days ago I’m doing a shoot and what should take half an hour takes a whole day because I find fault with everything and I compare myself to my competition.

“Remember, in the shows I’ve been in, we may all be friends, but we’re all competing.”

About his surgical procedures, he said: ‘I’ve had my eyes done, my nose done, you get carried away. Something that would have taken a few hours, a few photos, now takes a full day…

‘Sometimes I’m irrational. I look good, I’m in good shape, but I’ll still find faults – whether I’m on set or even if I’m going on holiday or doing a shoot for a brand, I’ll find faults.

‘I started with a hair transplant, I had my ears done, I had my teeth done, that’s the standard for everyone these days.

‘Recently I did another TV show and got a little injured. The injuries were bad, but not as bad as what I created in my head. So I had my eyes done, my nose done. You get carried away.’

Also in the studio, James was joined by Conservative MP and GP, Dr Luke Evans, who described social media as having a contributing effect on the way people see themselves.

He said: ‘[It’s important] James comes out and talks about it because that’s part of the problem. People come out and say, ‘He looks fine, what does he have to worry about?’ And actually that’s almost the problem in itself, because everyone is chasing this goal of looking a certain way, but we can’t achieve that.

He added: ‘We know that one in three children are ashamed of their bodies and one in five adults are ashamed of their bodies, and at the extreme end people are looking to surgery, eating disorders or steroids to fix this. ..

“That’s what worries me most.”

Leader, fearless freedom fighter, writer, philosopher and visionary #SawatantryaVeerSavarkar. A man whose towering intellect and fierce courage so scared the British that they locked him up for two lives (50 years) in this 8-by-10-foot prison in Kalapani. While exploring his biopic, I tried to lock myself in this cell to feel what he must have experienced. I couldn’t stay locked up for even twenty minutes, while he was locked up for eleven years, often in solitary confinement.

Randeep further wrote, “I imagined the unparalleled endurance of #VeerSavarkar who endured the brutality and inhumane conditions of captivity and still managed to build and inspire the armed revolution. His perseverance and contribution are unmatchable and that is why the anti-India forces continue to malign him for decades….Naman (folded hands emoji) (sic).”

New Delhi: WhatsApp, Meta's widely used social messaging app with more than 2 billion users worldwide, is reportedly developing a new feature that will allow users to lock their chats across all their linked devices. This handy feature provides users with an extra layer of security and privacy.

A report from WABetaInfo shows that WhatsApp is also preparing to add new features for Android users, allowing them to have more control over the privacy of their conversations across platforms. The latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.4.14 update, available on the Google Play Store, shows that WhatsApp is working to bring the chatlock feature to linked devices. WhatsApp has already developed a new feature for its web client called chat lock, which will provide an extra level of security for conversations in the future.

How does WhatsApp Chat Lock work on different devices?

The next version of WhatsApp will allow users to lock a chat on their primary device and also have it automatically locked on all other connected devices, improving privacy. Chat locks are synced across devices, so specific conversations are always protected no matter which device is used. Additionally, users must enter a secret code to view the list of locked chats from a paired device, adding an extra security measure to conversations across multiple devices.

WhatsApp Chat Lock Benefits

A big step forward in improving user privacy and security is the soon-to-be available chat lock feature for paired devices. This feature not only ensures users are consistently protected across devices, but also streamlines the user experience by coordinating security measures. WhatsApp will benefit from expanding this feature to connected devices by making it easier for users to switch between platforms, such as from their phone to a desktop or tablet. WhatsApp's commitment to providing users with a secure messaging experience across multiple platforms is reflected in this unified approach to privacy management. The chat lock feature for paired devices is currently under development and will be part of a future app update.

Meta-owned WhatsApp has also launched new stickers on the social messaging platform based on the carnival theme. The sticker pack is called “It's carnival, honey.” and comes with a message from WhatsApp “Let the rhythm take over your chats with the new It's Carnival, Baby sticker pack. Dance, eat and parade all week long. Vamos là!.” WhatsApp also recently launched custom stickers for iOS users and is reportedly developing the same for web users.

Just days after a major confrontation between the European Union and Hungary over aid to Ukraine, the European Commission announced on Wednesday that it has opened a new disciplinary procedure against the Hungarian government over a recently adopted piece of legislation targeting activities of foreigners be considered subversive.

The move comes on top of several other open disciplinary proceedings against Hungary that the European Commission, the EU's executive arm, has conducted against the government of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Mr Orbán has long denounced the battle with Brussels, which he says pits an “awakened globalist Goliath” against Hungary's “David”. He has insisted that the European Union is out to punish him for pursuing a Christian conservative agenda, which he says is in line with the wishes of the Hungarian people.

The commission's action focuses on recently passed legislation in Hungary that aims to punish interactions between Hungarian individuals or organizations and foreigners or foreign groups deemed subversive by a newly established Office for the Defense of Sovereignty.

In a statement on Wednesdaythe European Commission said it had opened the infringement procedure after “a thorough assessment” of Hungarian law.

The commission said the Hungarian legislation violates “several provisions” of European law, including internal market rules, democratic values and electoral rights. It also said the legislation violated fundamental rights such as the right to a fair trial and freedom of association.

“The creation of a new authority with far-reaching powers and a strict regime of supervision, enforcement and sanctions also risks seriously damaging democracy in Hungary,” Home Affairs Committee spokeswoman Anitta Hipper said on Wednesday.

Hungary has two months to respond. The disciplinary procedure could lead to the commission taking Hungary to the European Union's Supreme Court and imposing financial sanctions.

The United States in December expressed similar concerns about the Office for the Defense of Sovereignty, saying it “equips the Hungarian government with draconian tools that can be used to intimidate and punish those with views that the ruling party does not share.”

The US State Department said the authority could be used to subject Hungarian citizens, companies and organizations “to intrusive investigations without judicial oversight, even if they have had no contact with or support from a foreign government or foreign entity ', adding: “This new law is contrary to our shared values of democracy, individual freedom and the rule of law.”

The legislation and the authority it creates have also raised concerns among rights groups that have long been pressured by Hungarian authorities.

Dunja Mijatovic, a top official at the Council of Europe, a major human rights organization, said in a statement in November that the plan to create the Office for the Defense of Sovereignty “poses a significant risk to human rights and should be abandoned. ”

The European Commission has withheld more than 20 billion euros, approximately $21.5 billion, from Hungary for various violations of EU rules regarding the independence of the judiciary, corruption and LGBTQ rights.

Asked whether the commission would release any of those funds, Arianna Podesta, a spokeswoman, told reporters on Wednesday: “We're not there yet.”

Shocking new footage has revealed it took five police officers to arrest a Gospel singer as she performed for fans in Oxford Street.

Harmonie London, 20, was singing outside the John Lewis flagship store in London on Sunday when she was approached by volunteer police officer Maya Hadzhipetkova, who wrongly told the busker that she was 'not allowed to sing church songs outside the church grounds'.

Scotland Yard has since apologized for the accident, explaining that the alleged infringement was due to unlicensed street performers and not the content of the songs they sang, adding that Hadzhipetkova is under investigation.

But now a new clip of the incident shows that there were five other officers on the scene, with one of the officers being heckled by a passerby who asked why officers weren't spending their time 'catching murderers, rapists, killers'.

Onlookers condemned the Metropolitan Police for 'wasting taxpayers' money' and police resources, and demanded an explanation as to why officers threatened to confiscate Harmonie's equipment.

The Christian singer told MailOnline tonight that she felt 'threatened' by the five officers, adding that it was a 'waste of police resources' if the force continues to 'say they are underfunded and that crime in London is very high is'.

In the new clip, a police officer is approached by Harmonie's videographer because he sounds 'very stupid', to which the male officers respond: 'Hello YouTube, I apparently sound very stupid'.

The woman is then heard telling the officer: 'I would rather you use our taxpayers' money to catch murderers, rapists and pedophiles, but you're after a busker here, which is actually a council problem and not yours .

“All these cops here are wasting taxpayers' money. This is an embarrassment to you and a waste of police time. And I don't think all police officers are happy about this.'

To which the unnamed officer replied: 'I'm not after anyone, she's leaving, I'm happy about that. If you walked away and stopped talking to me, I would walk away too. You asked me to talk to you.”

When the filmmaker again insists that the officers should 'arrest murderers, rapists and murderers' instead of stopping buskers on the street, the officer sarcastically jokes back: 'In that case, I'll talk about it the next time I talk about a murder. .'

At the end of the video, the officer stuck her tongue out at the singer as she continued filming

She continues to chide the officers for “sitting around and doing nothing,” instead “catching people who aren't even criminals.”

Is it illegal to sing Christian songs outside church grounds?

There is no law in England and Wales against singing songs on pavements, whether they are Christian or not.

The volunteer police officer was therefore wrong when he suggested that Harmonie London should not sing 'church songs outside the church grounds'.

There are municipal bylaws regarding having a street performer's permit and not blocking roads – which could have confused the officer.

The Metropolitan Police has claimed the dispute was over a 'specific regulation relating to street performers'.

Busking is not illegal in England and Wales, but there may be certain regulations or rules imposed by councils, such as not making too much noise.

Singers may also be told to avoid blocking sidewalks, not putting up notices asking for payment and to only perform in certain parts of a city or for a set period of time.

Westminster City Council policy for Oxford Street is that it is among the regulated areas of the West End with street performers and street entertainment.

The policy states that a 'light licensing regime' applies in the area, meaning that everyone is 'allowed to busker only in designated areas'.

They must also apply for a license to perform, adhere to the terms of the designated fields and abide by the terms of their license.

“Okay, then I'm going to catch some criminals, okay?” the officer responds, before explaining that his job is primarily about 'saving lives'.

Unveiling the new footage, Harmonie slammed the male officer for being “very condescending,” adding that “it was almost like he was saying, how dare you tell me to go fight a crime.”

She told MailOnline: 'I packed my equipment because they threatened to confiscate my equipment and I didn't want to get in trouble with them for not listening to me.

'It was quite aggressive and it got quite out of hand. I'll be honest, I was really scared.

'The whole case was handled poorly and it was just a waste of police resources. They say they are underfunded and that crime in London is very high. That's why I think the resources can be used in a better way.

'It's never happened before, but you feel threatened, it was threatening. I don't see myself as a lawbreaker or a rebel. I am a law abiding citizen. I hope they leave me alone in the future.'

The singer added that members of the public told her that a woman had been robbed nearby on Oxford Street but that police had done nothing while they claimed another man had a nervous breakdown at the same time but that officers “didn't even find him seen'.

'Someone said a woman was being robbed, but he wasn't interested in anything but me. Another person said there was a gentleman in the area who had a nervous breakdown and they weren't even taking care of him.

The new footage comes days after the first video surfaced of Hadzhipetkova telling Harmonie that she was 'not allowed to sing church songs outside the church grounds' – before sticking her tongue out at the singer.

Harmonie, who was stopped by the officer during the performance of Amazing Grace, tried to protest her innocence to the officer by saying: 'You are, you are [able to sing church songs].'

It caused a huge public backlash and led to the volunteer police officer – who also works at Costa Coffee – being accused of breaching the musician's human right to freedom of expression and religion.

Hadzhipetkova's stance drew widespread condemnation, including from former Tory MP Ann Widdecombe, who said that “some people in this country have a problem with Christianity that they don't seem to have with other religions.”

Anti-crime activist Norman Brennan condemned the video as 'not a good look'; Christian Concern's Andrea Williams said it was 'shocking'; and former Home Office special adviser Claire Pearsall called on police to 'tackle the real crime'.

Harmonie, who has more than 300,000 subscribers on YouTube and regularly performs in the capital, said yesterday that she felt “humiliated”, “sad” and “bullied” by the situation.

The singer said she has previously been visited by Jimmy Choo, Romeo Beckham and Rio Ferdinand – and has been approached by Jay-Z and Cardi B as well as Sony Music.

Yesterday, police were forced to apologize to the singer as she admitted they were wrong after officers threatened to take away her instruments after a performance of Amazing Grace.

Police clarified that the alleged infringement was due to unlicensed buskers and not the content of the songs they sang.

But they added: 'The officer was mistaken when he said that church songs should not be sung outside the church grounds.

“We are sorry for the offense caused and we will continue with the lessons.”

The Met Police previously said: 'We are aware of the significant commentary on social media in relation to this incident. The fragment shows 30 seconds of a 43-minute conversation where the broader context is not immediately clear.'

MailOnline has contacted police for comment.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23612, introducing a new dynamic weather experience on the lock screen with dynamic and interactive weather updates. When hovering over the weather information on the lock screen, users can see more information, and tapping or clicking on the weather card opens Microsoft Edge with the full forecast in MSN Weather. This new feature is available by default and can be disabled by changing the lock screen status to 'None'. The new weather experience is designed to give users a richer and more interactive lock screen experience.

How to enable a dynamic lock screen on Windows 11

The dynamic weather experience is available when the screen is locked, regardless of personalization options such as Image, Windows Spotlight, or Slideshow. Here are the steps to enable the dynamic weather experience on the lock screen in Windows 11:

  • Go to Settings
  • Select Personalization
  • Then under Lock screen, find the status of the lock screen
  • Select Weather.
  • If you don't want to see this experience, you can change your lock screen status to 'None'.

The new features in the free version of Microsoft Teams bring several improvements to the platform. Users can now take advantage of community-specific nicknames and the ability to appoint community moderators, promoting a more personalized and curated community experience. Improved search capabilities make it easier to find and access relevant information within Teams. The addition of the ability to make calls in the new Teams app, including emergency calls, expands the communication options available to users.

How to set up community-based nicknames in Microsoft Teams

Follow these steps to set up community-specific nicknames in Microsoft Teams (free):

  1. Tap the profile of the person you want to set a nickname for.
  2. Tap “Set Nickname” and type the name you want. This nickname is only visible to members of your community.

If users have access to an edit icon in their profile, they can set it themselves. However, if the organization controls the ID information and does not allow updates, someone with access must change the “display name” in Active Directory (AD) or Azure Active Directory (AAD).

Other updates for Microsoft Teams

Community channels, banners and easy email search are some of the new features introduced in Microsoft Teams. Here's what you need to know about each of these features:

  1. Community channels– This feature allows users to create and join communities, host events, collaborate with community members via chat or share files and photos, and manage community membership. To use this feature, sign in with a Microsoft account and follow the prompts to create or join a community.
  2. Banners: Banners are a new way to highlight important messages in Teams. They appear at the top of the screen and can be customized with different colors and text. To create a banner, go to the channel or chat where you want to post the message, click the “Format” icon and select “Banner.”
  3. Easy search with email: This feature allows users to search (for free) for messages and files in Teams using their email address. This can be useful for finding information related to a specific project or conversation. To use this feature, simply enter your email address in the search bar and select 'Search with email'.

These features are intended to improve the user experience and support community needs within the Microsoft Teams platform.
