Noomi’s new space-based Apple TV+ series Constellation is so sinister that even the showrunner would politely decline an invitation for an intergalactic voyage.

The eight-part psychological thriller, created and written by Peter Harness, follows astronaut Jo, played by Noomi, who returns to Earth after a disaster in space, only to discover that important pieces of her life are missing.

The action-packed series explores the dark edges of human psychology and follows one woman’s quest to uncover the truth about the hidden history of space travel in an effort to regain everything she has lost.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, Peter revealed the story that inspired the plot, while also admitting that he is so scared of space that he would only consider jumping aboard a rocket if his days were numbered.

“I was once on vacation in a cabin in the Swedish woods, and as night fell, we heard a little girl in the woods calling for her mother,” he said of how he was inspired to create the plot.

‘It was very creepy and a bit weird, and we didn’t know where it came from. And we never found out where it came from.

“But a few nights in a row we heard this sound and I always thought I should write something about this little girl who was lost in the forest in Sweden.

“And when I was asked if I wanted to write something about astronauts and what it’s like for them to return to Earth, I wanted to address how challenging that is.

“I have a mother who is stuck out there in space trying desperately to reach her daughter. And for some reason that daughter was the little girl who got lost in the woods… and I had to write for the show to get them back.”

Oppenheimer actor James D’Arcy plays Jo’s husband Magnus, who desperately tries to understand his wife’s altered mental state after her return to Earth.

James admitted he was stunned after reading the entire script in one sitting – and hinted audiences will be hooked.

“When I first read the script, I read all eight episodes in one day and when I got to the end my head exploded,” he told DailyMail.com.

‘I realized I had just read something truly unique, it defies description: it’s a science fiction, but it’s a thriller, but it’s a conspiracy drama, but it’s also a family affair.

‘What I loved about it was, even with this huge epic scope, that at the heart of it was this deep meditation on the nature of being human and dealing with reality.

“I really resonated with that, especially since the pandemic, where reality feels very loose.

“Peter Harness, who I think is a genius, has written this series that tackles all those big questions, but does it in the most entertaining way.”

An Antiques Roadshow guest was amazed to discover the value of his Alexander McQueen collection during Sunday’s show.

In the latest episode, members of the public brought their prized possessions to Pollok Country Park in Glasgow, with one man launching a range of items from the late designer.

Expert Hillary Kay was delighted when she saw the clothes and said it was the first time McQueen had appeared in the series.

The young man said he became “obsessed” with the British-born fashion designer after writing an essay about him at school and starting his collection 15 years ago.

He explained: ‘I found that jacket online and the shirt I found in a second-hand shop in London.’

Expert Hillary raved about the clothes and their ‘spectacular’ sizing before ultimately giving her rating.

She went through the pieces individually and threw out large sums before coming up with an overall estimate for the entire collection.

Saying, ‘If we add it all up, I’d say you’ve got £18,000 – £20,000 there’.

Alexander McQueen was chief designer of Givenchy before founding his own label and dressing some of the most famous women in the world.

He tragically took his own life in 2010 at the age of 40.

Earlier in the episode, a couple discovered the true value of a painting they found at a thrift store.

Expert Frances Christie immediately fell in love with the painting and revealed it was the work of local artist Dorothy Steel (1927-2002).

When asked how they came across the piece, the man said: ‘I found it in a charity shop about twenty years ago, in a place called Shawlands, not far from here.’

He went on to say it had been ‘worth’ the £5 price tag, after being drawn to the quintessential west Scottish scene

The Princess of Wales looked suitably regal in a rich royal blue as she celebrated Christmas Day at Sandringham with the extended Windsor family yesterday.

Holding daughter Charlotte’s hand during the walk to the annual Christmas Day service at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Kate’s centerpiece was a long Alexander McQueen coat with fabulously structured shoulders and a cinched waist. Simple, stylish, elegant… We expect nothing less.

She paired this with a navy turtleneck jumper, custom ‘Glen 85’ suede knee-high boots from Gianvito Rossi worth £1,180 and a custom matching royal blue headpiece. The dramatic pillbox-style felt hat, designed by London-based milliner Juliette Botterill, was adorned with an elegant, stylized bow and crossed feather embellishment.

The look was completed with her paired sapphire drop and diamond earrings from the jewelry collection of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

It was the queen of tonal dressing at her best.

Kate, who has been known to wear the same clothes in different colours, also owns a green version of this beautiful Alexander McQueen coat and a black version of the hat, which she wore to the St David’s Day Parade in March this year the Welsh Guard.

Kate has adhered to the formal Christmas dress code since she first joined the family at Sandringham in 2011, the same year she married Prince William at Westminster Abbey. On that first occasion, she wore a maroon coat dress and matching hat by Jane Corbett.

In the twelve years since, this formula of a tailored jacket with a matching headpiece has been refined and iterated and this is perhaps the strongest version yet.

Her family coordinated their outfits this year. The future king and his eldest son, ten-year-old George, were also dressed in blue, while eight-year-old Princess Charlotte wore a fern green double-breasted coat with a velvet collar – similar to the color her mother wore last year. – with navy blue tights and matching flats.

Meanwhile, little Prince Louis, five, tied the family together with the most festive outfit of all: a navy pea coat over green and blue tartan trousers, £60 from Trotters – a change from his usual shorts and knee socks.

He admirably grabbed the hand of his older cousin Mia Tindall, nine, also on her way to the service with her parents, Zara and Mike Tindall, and sister Lena, five.

The Prince and Princess of Wales weren’t the only ones coordinating. The King and Queen wore complementary colours, with Camilla wearing a beige long Anna Valentine coat that we’ve seen before. She wore a blue silk paisley dress, accessorized with beige boots and a Philip Treacy hat with feather detail. The king mirrored her with a classic camel coat.

The always elegant Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, was seen in a coat dress by Claire Mischevani, a British designer who has become a firm favorite among the royals.

Sophie’s tweed piece is an adaptation of a khaki crepe design – also with a tie-detail neckline – available online for £1,145. A fantastically festive choice, topped off with a £95 Hicks & Brown fedora.

For the second year in a row, Andrew, the disgraced Duke of York, walked to church with the family. His ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, joined him in public at Sandringham for the first time in years. She walked alongside her ex-husband in Holland Cooper’s Dowdeswell coat, £799, in emerald green, a traditional choice for the Sandringham tableware, paired with ankle boots and a matching jeweled clutch.

A wedding present from Crown Prince Fahd, Princess Diana’s ‘The Saudi Suite’ set includes a sapphire watch, earrings, bracelet, ring and necklace.

Diana, who famously loved sapphires, wore the entire set to a Brisbane state reception in 1983, but also experimented with each item separately.

The earrings contained detachable sapphire drops, which Diana removed before wearing the resultant chunky studs, each surrounded by ten round diamonds, to mark Harry’s birth in 1985.

When William gave them to Kate after their engagement in 2010 she too put her own stamp on them, refashioning them into modest drop earrings.

Kate, who is known to wear the same clothes in several colours, also owns a green version of the Alexander McQueen coat, which she wore on a trip to Boston.

She paired the look with a festive fascinator, navy polo neck and midi crimped skirt.

Hundreds of well-wishers have been queuing since the early hours to catch a glimpse of the royals, and waved excitedly as Charles and Camilla made their way to the church.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has remained in the US with Meghan and their two children Archie and Lilibet – despite recent hopes of a thaw in relations between King Charles and his youngest son.

The royal festivities usually start when everyone arrives on Christmas Eve. The family open presents, some of which are gag gifts – one of the Royal Family’s traditions.

The family then attend services at Saint Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas morning.  Once they get home Christmas lunch is served, followed by afternoon games.

Last Christmas the royals experienced their biggest change for decades as they celebrated their first festive period without Queen Elizabeth II, who had passed away just a few months earlier.

Elsewhere, Prince Louis sweetly held hands with his second cousin Mia Tindall, nine,  as he joined the rest of the royal family at Sandringham on Christmas Day.

Little Louis, five, was joined by Prince George, 10,  Princess Charlotte, eight, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales at Sandringham for Christmas.

Mia’s sister Lena, five, walked behind the Wales’ holding hands with her parents Zara and Mike. Her younger brother Lucas, two, stayed at home.

Holding hands with her mother, Princess Charlotte looked festive in a bottle green coat with her hair tied back into plaits.

Meanwhile, George, walking solo, appeared very grown up in a smart suit.

Royal Christmases traditionally feature the greeting of people outside the church, and a family lunch with turkey and all the trimmings.

For the second year in succession the disgraced Duke of York walked from Sandringham to church with the family.

Andrew’s alleged links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein will come under further scrutiny in the new year with the release of hundreds of files from a defamation case, after a ruling by a US judge.

His ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York appeared in public at Sandringham for the first time in years, walking beside her ex-husband and smiling broadly at the press.

Andrew’s daughters were with their husbands, Princess Beatrice with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Prince Eugenie with Jack Brooksbank.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh joined the rest of the royals on their way to the church. The Duchess of Edinburgh wore a bespoke version of the Claire Mischevani Kristen coat.

Charles’s second Christmas message as monarch will be broadcast at 3pm, and this year it was recorded in the Centre Room in Buckingham Palace which leads on to the royal residence’s iconic balcony.

The room is decorated with a living Christmas tree which will be replanted after the broadcast.

From its branches hang natural and sustainable decorations including hand-turned wood, dried oranges, glass baubles, pine cones and paper.

Charles, like Queen Elizabeth II, writes his Christmas broadcasts and last year he followed his mother’s well-established template, a personal reflection on the year, touching on current issues and with a Christian framework.

The King will give his second annual King’s speech, with a focus on the environment.

It marks a turn away from typically apolitical speeches given by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth.

The Princess of Wales led the glamour on the final day of Royal Ascot 2023 as members of the royal family arrived at the Berkshire racecourse.

Looking stunning in a scarlet Alexander McQueen dress and a Philip Treacy hat in a matching shade, Kate, 41, smiled at crowds as she arrived in the carriage procession alongside Prince William, also 41.

The mother-of-three tied her hair back into a sleek bun and opted for fabulous statement gold earrings from Sézane, which she has worn before.

As she looked elegant in the A-line red frock, the mother-of-three paired her dress with a red clutch bag from Hermes and red suede pumps.

Joining the Prince and Princess of Wales in the second carriage in the royal procession was Princess Beatrice, 34, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 39.

The foursome arrived in the second carriage in the procession, which followed King Charles and Queen Camilla with the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

As the Princess opted for the scarlet frock, she deviated from previous Ascot looks, where she has typically opted for pastel colours in more muted tones.

It’s the first time William and Kate have attended the event since the death of the Queen in September – who was often dubbed Royal Ascot’s ‘biggest fan’.

During her 70-year reign, Her late Majesty attended almost every single Royal Ascot festival, with the exception of last year where she couldn’t attend due to mobility issues.

The king has a horse racing today, yesterday he shed a tear when he secured his first ever Ascot win.

The royal couple were overcome with emotion as they watched their horse Desert Hero win the King George V race from the royal box, after two losses.

Throughout the week Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice and Mike and Zara Tindall have also been spotted enjoying the races.

The King’s cousins – Earl Snowdon and Sarah Chatto – also joined the royal procession yesterday.

Elsewhere, many revellers donned their finery to celebrate in the glorious June sun.

High heels and fascinators were a common theme with guests, who opted for colourful dresses and full glamour.

Many female racegoers opted to make the most of the relaxed rules – which allows people to dress from the male or female dress code regardless of their gender – opting for bright trouser suits.

Last night revellers looked worse for wear this evening as they left the Berkshire racecourse after hours of partying.

Earlier in the day, glamorous guests had dressed themselves up to the nines to attend the event, which is considered to be the crown jewel in the racing calendar.

While its competitors Cheltenham, Epsom and Aintree have ditched their dress codes , Ascot still has a fairly strict clothing policy.

Having made it past security in high heels this morning, racegoers were pictured giving their feet a break as they left the premises in flip flops.

David Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linely, also known as Earl Snowdon, is the son of the late Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon.

His sister, Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband Daniel Chatto joined the procession too, alongside Lord Nicolas Soames, a former Conservative MP and grandson of Winston Churchill.

Camilla’s family – including her sister, ex sister-in-law and ex-husband have also been spotted at the races.

This year, organisers have displayed a heartwarming collection of photos of the Queen visiting Ascot over the years.

They include a black-and-white photo of the royal riding on the tracks in 1960 when she was 34 years old.

The mother-of-four was pictured with a headscarf and riding boots on as her horse galloped along the track.

The Queen was taking part in an unofficial race with other members of her royal party and ended up finishing fourth.

What’s more, the organisers also selecting a photograph of the Queen beaming at Ladies Day in 2013.

The event turned out to be one of the Queen’s most successful Ascots as her horse Estimate won the Gold Cup – making her the first monarch in 200 years to scoop the prize.

The late royal was pictured beaming at her trophy, which was presented to her by her son Prince Andrew.

The Queen was dressed in one of her signature coat dresses in a pretty shade of purple.

Underneath her jacket, the monarch wore a pretty floral dress – which perfectly complimented the flowers on her hat.

In the image, the Queen is seen wearing a three-strand pearl necklace – which she also wore to her final ever Ascot in June 2021.
