Thank you Keren Woodward, singer and star of the all-female 80s pop group Bananarama, for saying what I’ve been dying to express for a while. I was a little reserved in case people thought I had become a puritanical old fart, which, I assure you, is not the case.

But this week Keren said: ‘I don’t understand what some singers are wearing these days.’ I’d say the problem isn’t necessarily what they wear, but what they don’t wear.

“I have friends who have teenage daughters and these girls already have terrible body image and insecurities,” she continued, “and I don’t think having a woman like that on stage helps with that.”

Keren is absolutely right. Everyone from Dua Lipa, who recently announced she would be headlining Glastonbury, to the brilliant Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, seems to feel like they always have to appear half-naked in public. Likewise, Beyonce, one of the best-selling music artists of all time, is adored by young girls and women.

They love her music, just like they think megastar Taylor Swift’s songs touch their hearts and souls. But why do such talented, successful and powerful women feel the need to appear on stage virtually naked in jewel-encrusted leotards or, in Beyonce’s case, naked except for strategically placed jewelry astride a horse?

Everyone from Dua Lipa, who recently announced she would be headlining Glastonbury, seems to feel like they always have to appear half-naked in public

When Beyonce unveiled the artwork for her new album this week, I was thrilled to see her clothes back on… until I noticed the back of her leather pants had been cut away to expose her bum – why?

These stars must have worked extremely hard for the bodies they like to show off. There are no bingo wings, no bloated bellies, no swollen ankles. They must exercise every day and have expert chefs who prepare nutritious, healthy meals. Very different from the teenage fan who has to eat her way through school lunch, may have a bit of puppy fat and the only exercise she gets is copying a TikTok dance in her bedroom. No wonder so many girls have body problems and more young people than ever are receiving treatment for eating disorders, according to the NHS.

I have friends whose girls simply stopped eating and lifting weights to achieve the strong, handsome arms of their idols.

The sad reality is that far from being inspiring, many of today’s female pop stars are a danger to the mental health of young people.

Then there is the risk that girls run themselves by copying the outfits. Like Keren, I have friends whose teenage daughters spend hours listening to the music of the women they adore and do their best to look and dance like them. They hope Mom doesn’t notice when they sneak out in the requisite barely-there clothing.

Nothing can be more disturbing to a parent than seeing their little girl go out dressed like a porn star, unaware of the dangers this can bring.

In the 1980s, Bananarama’s heyday, and even into the 2000s, if reruns of the old Top Of The Pops on BBC 4 are to be believed, it wasn’t about showing the flesh.

Keren says they are proud of becoming pin-ups without being overtly sexy: “We became sex symbols in donkey jackets. We had no stylists or make-up artists. That wouldn’t happen now.’

Keren Woodward, singer and star of the all-female '80s pop group Bananarama, said: 'I don't understand what some singers are wearing these days'

Keren Woodward, singer and star of the all-female ’80s pop group Bananarama, said: ‘I don’t understand what some singers are wearing these days’

But why wouldn’t that happen now? Since the turn of the century, we seem to have lost the sense that talent matters above all. Think of Annie Lennox or Debbie Harry; major stars appreciated for their beautiful voices and idiosyncratic sense of style, who always came across as intelligent and thoughtful in interviews.

For me, as a feminist, journalist, interviewer and cultural commentator, it felt like women were achieving something because of what we had fought for.

Women were valued for the quality of our minds, not primarily for the size of our breasts – or how willing we were to show them.

Of course, it’s not just pop stars who only appear in essentials. On every red carpet, be it the Oscars or the Baftas, there are always a number of beautiful, famous women who appear to be wearing as little as possible.

Sometimes the dresses are sheer and sheer and leave nothing to the imagination, or the cut is so tight that large, full breasts struggle to break free.

I have no doubt that this is a result of the proliferation of porn, an arena where women perform almost exclusively for the delight of men.

But it’s the hugely talented, half-naked, ripped women radiating sex and suggestiveness that bother me the most. Why don’t they consider the impact on their impressionable young fans? And the impact on women as a whole.

We have worked so hard to be seen as the intellectual equals of men. Please don’t blame us for being seen as nothing more than glorified strippers.

A fitting farewell for Charlie

Once I needed it, I hadn’t seen BBC’s Casualty in a while. But on Saturday I couldn’t miss the departure, after 38 years, of Charlie Fairhead. I was so relieved that he was saved from being stabbed in the chest and left for retirement in a yellow VW Beetle, the same car he had arrived in all those years ago. A happy ending for once.

  • Let’s not make too much of a fuss about Dame Laura Kenny leaving cycling ‘in the interests of her children’. She said she just didn’t want to do all that training anymore. Her husband, Sir Jason Kenny, quit in 2022 to become a coach. Now the children will have father and mother to take care of them.

“This is not PepsiCo, your former employer. This is the BBC!’ All my adult life I have willingly paid the licensing fee, knowing it would give me wonderful programs without any hint of the influence of the commercial world.

Yes, the BBC is short of money – always has been. But successive DGs have fallen out with governments when the Charter came up for renewal and received an increase.

Who will be willing to pay the license fee if they know the BBC is no better than its commercial rivals? I won’t and it will break my heart.

I left feeling like my creativity had been crushed. Do I dare to try again?

Selena Gomez admitted that she feels “sick” when she looks back at how she used to see herself.

The Wizards of Waverly Place actress admitted it was “bumpy.” [her] out” to look back on how critical she was of herself when she was younger, and it has taken time to realize the importance of “speaking to yourself with kindness.”

However, this is not a foreign concept to the Kill Em with Kindness singer as she has been working on herself for quite some time.

Since her 2015 album Revival, the singer-slash-actress has publicly used her music as a platform to express her feelings.

Her 2022 documentary My Mind and Me – which was filmed over six years and chronicled her struggles with trust issues, suicidal thoughts that led to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and burnout – had changed the way she treated herself.

Since her 2015 album Revival, the singer slash actress had publicly used her music as a platform to express her feelings.

Selena admitted on a SXSW panel titled Mindfulness Over Perfection: Getting Real On Mental Health, “It makes me sick to hear the things I said about myself in the beginning. It destroys me.

‘But I think everyone can relate to that feeling. It’s important to speak kindly to yourself, but I don’t think I really understood that [at the start of the film].’

The 31-year-old singer and actress explained that she was inspired to be more open about her struggles after watching Girl Interrupted with her mother, Mandy Teefey.

She said it sparked a discussion about the strangeness of the entertainment industry and how Selena felt like she didn’t belong during her time as a child actor.

The Disney alum noted that it’s impossible to force someone to deal with mental health issues before they’re ready.

She reflected, “There were a lot of people who cared about me more than I cared about myself, and who really wanted me to do things I wasn’t ready for. I had my lowest point and I had to do it in my time.

“It took a few tries, but I like to think and hope that I’m in a much better place now.”

The star was condemned not only in her career as a child actor, but also in her personal relationships.

Gomez famously dated pop star Justin Bieber and was on and off from 2010 to 2018 before calling it quits for good.

Two months after breaking up with the Canadian native, he was engaged to model Hailey Baldwin – now Bieber.

This prompted her to release Lose You to Love Me, which fans speculate is about him.

California has about 12 percent of the U.S. population, but more than a quarter of America’s homeless population — more than 181,000 finally counted.

There are many reasons for this outrageous problem, including generations-old state laws that deinstitutionalized mentally ill people, as well as the high housing costs that have since cost tens of thousands of people their housing. But since the pandemic turned fentanyl abuse and tent encampments into inescapable symptoms of a public health crisis, policymakers in the state have been under intense pressure to rethink California’s approach to behavioral health.

Last week, Californians voted on a key part of that rethink: a deeper focus on treatment and housing for homeless people with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. The ballot measure, called Proposition 1, was the culmination of months of work by Gov. Gavin Newsom to build statewide support.

Opinion polls suggested that Proposal 1 would be a slam dunk. But so far it’s barely passing. Going into the week, the measure remains in place, with 50.5 percent of the vote and an estimated 2.5 million ballots still to be counted. So what happened?

Here’s what you need to know about Proposition 1 in California.

Proposition 1 was put to the vote by state lawmakers and Mr. Newsom last year and asks voters to dramatically expand treatment centers and supportive housing for people struggling with mental illness and addiction. The measure would authorize $6.38 billion in bonds to pay for facilities and housing and would amend the Mental Health Services Act, a two-decade-old state tax on millionaires, to shift about $140 million annually from the counties to the state . The measure would also set aside about $1 billion for housing for homeless, mentally ill or addicted veterans.

Proponents of Proposition 1 say it is key to restructuring California’s behavioral health system. One reason why so many addicts and mentally ill people are on the streets, they say, is because the state did it an acute shortage of treatment beds for adults. Proposal 1 would help house more than 11,000 sick people and support CARE Court, a new state program that requires people to seek treatment for certain psychotic disorders. The measure would explicitly provide a huge source of treatment dollars homeless substance abusers. And, proponents say, Proposition 1 would reduce taxpayer spending on a population now largely treated in prisons.

Some civil libertarians fear that Proposition 1 heralds a return to the days when involuntary treatment was the norm for mentally ill people. But most opponents cite fiscal concerns. Critics say California has already poured tens of billions of dollars into homelessness, only to see the situation worsen. Critics note that while Proposition 1 would not add new taxes, it would limit the amount the state could borrow for other issues and force taxpayers into new debt amid high interest rates. Additionally, counties rely on the Mental Health Services Act to pay for programs not covered by California’s version of Medicaid or other, less flexible funding sources, and Proposition 1 would shift some of that money to the state.

Newsom administration officials say their internal polling had always predicted a close outcome. Turnout in California tends to be lower in primaries than in general elections and is less heavily dominated by like-minded Democrats.

The bond measure is lengthy and confusing and comes at a time when the state is facing a budget deficit. Mental health policy is a fraught issue in California, and proposed shifts often draw passionate opposition from civil liberties groups. And many voters are frustrated and fatigued by the sheer scale of homelessness in California — and skeptical that any ballot measure could solve the problem.

But turnout was low, even for a primary. Without a close race for the presidential nomination in either party, only about a quarter of the state’s roughly 22 million registered voters cast ballots. according to the most recent statistics – the lowest participation rate in presidential primaries in at least two decades.

The surprising share of Republicans also influenced the results. They make up less than a quarter of registered voters, but as of this weekend were on track to reach almost 30 percent of the turnout. Some Democratic analysts have pointed to the state’s Senate race, in which the front-runner, Adam Schiff, spent tens of millions of dollars on ads that raised the profile of his favorite opponent, Steve Garvey, a political novice and Republican.

Because California relies heavily on mail-in ballots, vote counting typically takes weeks, but most observers expect a clearer picture within days.

Each of California’s more than 22 million registered voters received a ballot, but only about a third of them voted. About 2 million ballots remain to be processed, according to the most recent state figures. Election officials have until April 5.

But the sources of the remaining ballots hint at the prospects of Proposition 1. Campaign officials said late last week that while there were still some large conservative precincts to be counted, there were many more outstanding ballots in major metropolitan areas. Those parts of the state — Los Angeles and Alameda counties, for example — are heavily Democratic and more likely to vote “yes.”

It turns out that even speaking kindly to yourself for less than a minute a day can improve your mental health.

Researchers at the University of California Berkeley recruited more than 100 people to test whether self-compassionate touch, which involves placing your hands on your chest, could improve mental health.

This also included repeating statements such as “How can I be a friend to myself right now” to banish fear and self-doubt.

Eli Susman, author of the study, described the exercise as “a habit of being a caring friend to yourself when you think about moments that cause you to be hard on yourself.”

One group of participants was asked to practice the exercises for at least 20 seconds every day for a month.

The results showed that those who did had greater self-compassion, emotional well-being and less stress than those who did not.

The researchers said their “findings are the first to our knowledge to show that daily self-compassion touch can increase self-compassion.”

The researchers found that those who practiced positive affirmations daily had greater self-compassion, emotional well-being, and less stress than those who did not.

The study involved 135 UC Berkeley students over the age of 18. The average age of participants was 21 years and 69 percent of students were female.

The “micropractices” were intended to be easy and an alternative to current self-compassion therapies, which can be time-intensive – ranging from one to 20 hours of learning the technique and then another 2.5 to 40 hours of practice.

Susman said Fox News digital the students were given the following instructions: ‘You are invited to close your eyes.

“You should think of a recent mistake, a failure, or something about yourself that has been bothering you lately or making you feel unworthy, unloved, or not enough.

“And notice what arises in your body as you bring this to mind… sending kindness and warmth to yourself by bringing one hand to your stomach and the other to your chest with the energy of giving yourself a hug. .. allow yourself to embrace what arises in your body.

‘You are invited to ask yourself, “How can I be a friend to myself right now?”… and when you are ready, you can open your eyes.’

The team found that those who practiced positive affirmations daily had greater self-compassion, emotional well-being, and less stress than those who did not.

And mental health improved even more as participants spoke and touched more often with self-compassion.

Evidence has accumulated that high self-compassion is associated with multiple positive outcomes, including better mood and less stress, the study said.

However, the California researchers said they believe their latest findings show that daily self-compassion can also increase self-compassion.

The researchers acknowledged the study’s limitations, including the fact that the team didn’t tell people how often they should do the affirmations above the minimum.

Furthermore, the study had a small sample size and consisted only of students.

“The effects depended on practice: those who didn’t practice often didn’t improve,” Susman said.

He noted that additional research is needed among more varied populations and that these “micro practices” should not replace mental health care such as therapy and medication for those who need it.

The research was published in the April 2024 edition Behavioral research and therapy.

Doctor visits by adolescents and young adults are increasingly involving mental health diagnoses, in addition to prescribing psychiatric medications.

That was the conclusion of a new study that found that in 2019, 17 percent of outpatient doctor visits for patients ages 13 to 24 in the United States were for a behavioral or mental health disorder, including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm or suicide. other problems. That figure is up sharply from 2006, when only 9 percent of doctor visits were for psychiatric conditions.

The study, published Thursday in JAMA Network Open, also found a sharp increase in the number of visits involving psychiatric medications. In 2019, 22.4 percent of outpatient visits by the 13 to 24 age group involved the prescription of at least one psychiatric medication, up from 13 percent in 2006.

The study is the latest evidence of a shift in the types of conditions affecting children, adolescents and young adults. For decades, their health care visits were for more physical ailments, such as broken bones, viruses and drunk driving injuries. However, doctors are increasingly seeing a wide variety of behavioral and mental health problems.

The reasons are not entirely clear. Some experts have said that modern life brings a new kind of mental pressure, even as society has reduced the risks of physical ailments.

The latest study gives no reason for the shift. But the pandemic alone was not to blame, the report noted. “These findings suggest that the increase in mental health problems among young people during the pandemic occurred in the context of already rising rates of psychiatric disorders,” wrote the authors, a pediatrician and psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School. “Treatment and prevention strategies will need to take into account factors beyond the direct and indirect effects of the pandemic.”

The analysis comes from the National Ambulatory Care Survey, which asks a sample of physicians from across the country about the reasons for patient visits. Between 2006 and 2019, patients aged 13 to 24 made 1.1 billion healthcare visits, of which 145 million were for mental health issues. But the proportion of mental health-related visits increased each year, the study found, as did the prescribing of psychiatric medications, including stimulants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers and anti-anxiety medications.

The study found that antidepressants had the greatest increase, but the exact level was not specified, said Dr. Florence T. Bourgeois, a pediatrician at Boston Children’s Hospital, associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and co-author of the study. paper.

The prescription patterns leave an open question, she said.

“We cannot distinguish whether this speaks to the severity of the conditions or to changes in prescribing attitudes and trends,” she said. Regardless, she added, “We are treating these conditions aggressively.”

Gemini is a treat for research psychologists. In a field constantly trying to unravel the effects of genetics, environment and life experience, they provide a natural controlled experiment as their paths diverge, subtly or dramatically, during adulthood.

Take Dennis and Douglas. In high school they looked so alike that friends told them apart by the cars they drove researchers said in a study of twins in Virginia. Most of their childhood experiences were shared – except that Dennis suffered an attempted sexual assault at the age of 13.

At the age of 18, Douglas married his high school sweetheart. He raised three children and became deeply religious. Dennis experienced short-term relationships and was divorced twice, falling into periods of despair after each divorce. In his 50s, Dennis had a history of severe depression, while his brother did not.

Why do twins, who share so many genetic and environmental factors, diverge in their experiences with mental illness as adults? On Wednesday, a team of researchers from the University of Iceland and the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden reported new findings about the role played by childhood trauma.

Their study of 25,252 adult twins in Sweden, published in JAMA PsychiatryResearch found that those who reported one or more childhood traumas – physical or emotional neglect or abuse, rape, sexual abuse, hate crimes or witnessing domestic violence – were 2.4 times more likely to be diagnosed with a psychiatric illness as those who did not.

If someone reported one or more of these experiences, the odds of being diagnosed with a mental illness rose sharply: by 52 percent for each additional negative experience. Of participants who reported three or more adverse experiences, almost a quarter had a psychiatric diagnosis of a depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, substance abuse disorder or stress disorder.

To disentangle the effects of these traumas from genetic or environmental factors, the researchers limited the pool to “discordant” pairs, with only one twin reporting childhood abuse. An analysis of 6,852 twins from these discordant pairs found that childhood abuse was still associated with mental illness in adults, although not as strongly as in the full cohort.

“These findings suggest a larger influence than I expected – that is, even after very tight control for shared genetic and environmental factors, we still observed a link between childhood adversity and poor mental health outcomes of adults,” says Hilda Bjork Danielsdottir, a PhD candidate at the University of Iceland and the first author of the study.

Twins who reported abuse were 1.2 times as likely to suffer from mental illness as the unaffected twin among identical twins, and 1.7 times as likely among fraternal twins. This effect was especially pronounced among subjects who reported experiencing sexual abuse, rape, and physical neglect.

Twins can diverge in their experiences with childhood trauma for many reasons, Ms. Danielsdottir said in an emailed response to questions. In 93 percent of the cases in which an individual subject reported a rape, the other twin had not experienced it.

Although domestic violence is “inherently familial,” she said, and was a shared experience more than half the time, twins can have different dynamics with their parents. For example, twins are more likely to confront a dysfunctional parent. Ms. Danielsdottir is an identical twin herself and said she “can confirm that we have different relationships with our parents (both good).”

For decades, researchers have been collecting evidence linking childhood abuse and maltreatment to diseases later in life. A milestone 1998 survey among 9,508 adults found a direct correlation between child abuse and heart disease, cancer, lung disease and depression, often linked to behaviors such as smoking and alcohol consumption.

“That opened everything up,” says Dr. Jeremy Weleff, a psychiatrist at Yale University School of Medicine who has studied the effects of childhood adversity.

For decades, research had focused on biomedical models of mental illness, but the findings helped spark a shift toward examining the effects of childhood experiences, including social conditions such as racism, housing and poverty.

The two lines of research have been combined in research that maps the effect of trauma on the brain. a Report 2022 in Molecular Psychiatry, a journal in Nature, pointed to specific changes in “stress-sensitive brain areas” in people who were abused as children, and recommended that psychiatric diagnoses should add modifiers to reflect a history of trauma.

“These terrible things that happen to children and young people change the brain, they physically change the brain and in some ways cause mental illness,” said Dr. Weleff. “The mental illness that may have developed is more difficult to treat, or worse, or perhaps even fundamentally different.”

By ruling out the role of genetic factors, the new findings should dispel remaining doubt that childhood abuse leads to poorer mental health in adulthood, says Mark Bellis, a professor of public health at Liverpool John Moores University in Britain, who said wasn’t. involved in the study.

The findings add to “increasingly irrefutable evidence that it will cost us all far less if we invest in addressing” child abuse and neglect now, he added, rather than “continuing to pay for the epidemic harm.” ” cause downstream.

Ileana D’Cruz speaks about postpartum depression and sleep deprivation

Ileana D’Cruz took to Instagram and wrote, ‘Hello… It’s been a while since I’ve actually taken a photo of myself or posted anything here… Between being a full-time mom and doing housework, it seems that I can’t find time for myself. I usually wear pajamas and a messy, unattractive mom bun to keep my hair away from my munchkin’s little grabby hands and so the thought of pouting for a selfie just doesn’t really occur to me haha. The truth is that some days it was incredibly hard. Lack of sleep doesn’t help lol (sic).”

Ileana further added: “I’m definitely not trying to sound complaining, because this sweet child is the most beautiful thing that has happened to me. But we just don’t talk about postpartum depression enough. It’s very real. And it’s an incredibly alienating feeling. And I try to work every day to take some time to make myself feel better. A 30 minute workout and a 5 minute shower that really works wonders. But sometimes that doesn’t work (sic).”

What I love, by the way: There are so many amazing things that have happened to me and it has been an emotional, overwhelming journey. I just haven’t been one of those moms who immediately “bounced back.” I am kinder to myself and my body and achieve a stronger, healthier me at my own pace. But I’ll be back. That’s all. Thanks for sticking around and reading (sic).” The diva ended her long descriptive caption.

Jax Taylor says that he and estranged wife Brittany Cartwright are not headed for ‘divorce’ and that she’s already moved back into their Sherman Oaks home.

He made the claims to Page Six on Thursday, just hours after Cartwright revealed on the couple’s podcast that they are ‘taking time apart’ after four years of marriage.

She also confessed that she recently moved out of their martial home and into a $15K-a-month rental property for ‘the sake of my mental health.’

Jax insists that he and Brittany are back to living under one roof and that their separation is more of a relationship ‘reassessment’ rather than a finite split.

We’re together. We’re living in our home right now. She was in a house for a while, but yeah, she’s back now,’ he said.

‘It’s not evil or nastiness. It’s just two people that you now [sic] are hitting a 10-year mark in their marriage,’ he explained.

The bar owner said this is ‘all fresh and new’ so they are still trying to figure everything out.

‘We’re just spending some time apart and just trying to re-assess, you know, our situation. We have a child involved and we just wanna do what’s best for our kid,’ Jax concluded.

Brittany and Jax were seen reuniting for the first time since announcing their shock separation on Thursday.

Jax paid a visit to Brittany’s rental home, which is located just 12 minutes away from her ex, in the afternoon so he could pick up their son Cruz for some quality time.

While the former SUR waitress lent a hand loading their little one into his car seat, an eyewitness told DailyMail.com that the former couple ‘appeared tense’ and ‘were not very chatty with each other.’

The insider described their exchange as brief and ‘business-like.’

When Taylor first arrived, Cartwright was seen taking out her trash while rocking a black denim jacket over a white and brown flannel shirt, black pants and white sneakers.

Meanwhile, Taylor was dressed in merchandise promoting his Studio City bar, Jax’s, for the occasion.

His trip was short, as he only went inside the house for a half hour before emerging with Cartwright to load their son into a white Jeep.

Later, Cartwright, who changed her clothes and went off to film a project at a studio in Burbank, was seen wearing a sweatshirt with the words ‘better days ahead’ emblazoned on the back.

The duo met back up at her new rental when Taylor dropped off Cruz.

Cartwright was noticeably still wearing her wedding ring on both sightings.

Earlier in the day, Taylor was seen leaving their Valley Village home and heading to his bar on a red and black golf cart.

He parked in a no-parking zone for the disabled, despite not appearing to have any injuries or disabilities.

Taylor and Cartwright announced they currently separated and are ‘taking time apart’ after four years of marriage.

Brittany announced the news this week on When Reality Hits, confirming: ‘Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.’

However, Brittany also later hinted that the ‘split’ could be temporary, as she asked fans to ‘pray for us,’ and added that she believes ‘everything will be just fine.’

Signs of their relationship trouble and marital woes will most likely unfold on their new reality show The Valley, which premieres on March 19.

The beloved Bravo stars tied the knot in a fairy-tale themed wedding ceremony on June 2019 in Kentucky after a year-long engagement.

But it seems as though the fairy-tale is over, at least for now.

‘Many of you guys have been asking me about Jax and I and our relationship,’ Brittany said in the podcast episode released Thursday.

Following her recent move out of their marital home in Sherman Oaks to a $15K-a-month rental property, just 12 minutes away from her ex, the father-of-one, 44, paid a visit to the 35-year-old reality star's new digs as he picked up their son for some quality time

The star – who shares a two-year-old son, Cruz, with Jax – added: ‘I just think it’s important to be real and honest with you guys because we’ve shared so much of our lives with you guys.’

Brittany then specifically referenced some issues the pair have been having.

‘On my last podcast I alluded to many marriages go through rocky times. Yes, marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year.

Going on to suggest they’ve now temporarily split, she said: ‘Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.’

Admitting that the split is ‘still very hard to talk about’ she added that she is just ‘taking one day at a time.’

‘I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz,’ Brittany added.

Brittany and Jax began dating in 2015 after they met in Las Vegas, and their courtship was featured on their Bravo reality series Vanderpump Rules.

In 2017, the pair split for awhile after it was publicly revealed that Jax slept with another woman.

He cheated on Cartwright with their co-star Faith Stowers.

While speaking about her decision to forgive him, she stated that she was ‘raised to be a good Christian woman’ and told friends she believed ‘everybody deserves’ a second chance on Vanderpump Rules.

After reconciling off-camera and and on their Bravo series’ reunion show, Cartwright, who is 10 years his junior, told People they ‘weathered the storm.’

‘We’re still going through it … [but] we’re in a great place now — probably better than we’ve ever been,’ he said.

He proposed with a three-carat cushion-cut diamond ring.

‘We are ENGAGED! What a way to start our summer and season 7!!’ she wrote in their engagement announcement on Instagram. ‘I am so happy, so in love, and so beyond excited for this next chapter of our lives! I can’t wait for all of you to see how he proposed! I am the happiest girl ever right now. Love can win!’

In a joint statement, they reflected on how they’ve ‘been through a lot together, the good and the bad — but’ claimed it ‘only brought’ them ‘so much closer together.’

‘We’re just so excited for our future together but right now we’re focused on planning everything — first up is our engagement party next month that we’ll be celebrating with our family and close friends!’ they exclaimed.

Ultimately, they went on to get married in front of 240 guests just two years later.

Following the birth of their baby boy, Jax gushed that fatherhood ‘changed’ his life.

‘I think becoming parents made us stronger too because I love seeing him as a dad,’ told People. ‘It just makes you love him more.’

Over the summer, they even told the outlet they were ‘definitely gonna have more kids.’

‘At least one more,’ he said. ‘We’re just really busy right now. It’s been a very busy summer. We’re very blessed.’

Jax even raved about his wife for being the ‘rock’ of their family.

‘I love her to death and I don’t know if I’d still be on this planet if it wasn’t for her to be honest. Her and my son, they kind of really saved me after my father died,’ he told the outlet. ‘I really owe my whole life to her.’

In March 2023, the couple hinted to some trouble in their relationship as she said they were ‘trucking through.’

At the time, Taylor noted their ‘good days’ and ‘bad days’ made their relationship stronger.

‘I don’t believe in divorce. My parents didn’t get divorced,’ he told People. ‘I don’t believe in that. Marriage is work. I’m not saying every day is amazing.’

He added that he ‘honestly’ couldn’t imagine his ‘life with anybody else’ and assured fans they still had ‘a lot of fun with each other.’
