Seda Pir looks admiringly at the photo of her three-year-old daughter Ella on her smartphone.

People often say that they are alike, and that she wouldn’t change anything about her precious girl. Except for her runny nose, spotty upper body and flushed cheeks.

With a few clicks of Seda’s digital editing software, all of Ella’s ‘imperfections’ are gone and the image is ready for social media.

It’s so hard to take a nice photo because kids are so active and can’t sit still,” Seda, 39, explains. ‘Rather than intervening in the moment, when she’s enjoying herself by wiping her nose or changing her top, it’s just so easy to digitally erase them afterwards. I think every mother does it.’

When the Princess of Wales was criticized last week for ‘doctoring’ a Mother’s Day photo she shared on Instagram, the Mail was flooded with letters from furious mothers in her defence.

Last year, a study from the Journal of Media Psychology found that 64 percent of us edit our images before posting them online. Another study found that of all the photos women share, family photos are the ones they are most likely to edit.

However, some argue that ‘perfecting’ children’s images can lead to them growing up believing that their natural appearance is not good enough, which can cause feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem.

While removing stains from clothing may be harmless enough, altering the child’s face or body may be considered less acceptable.

So what inspires a mom to change her family snaps?

Seda, a full-time mother living in Hampshire, made a living as a fashion influencer, so admits altering images is second nature to her. She has over 10,000 photos of herself and her daughter on her phone, and even before she takes a photo, she will make the shot as flattering as possible.

“My favorite hacks include using a ring light [a circular bright white bulb]. It removes my wrinkles and any skin blemishes on Ella’s skin tone.

‘To clean up the image afterwards, FaceTune is my go-to tool. It usually only takes two or three minutes, so why not?

“When I look back at the photos, I want to remember how cute and happy she was, instead of my attention being drawn to little flaws.”

But would she continue editing images of Ella when she gets old enough to understand that her mother edits her appearance this way?

“When Ella is old enough to make her own decisions, I will probably still edit family photos, but I would check with her,” she says. “There will always be imperfections or problems that I don’t want to be the focus of the photo.”

But while some people may frown on her actions, Seda knows that if she doesn’t edit the photos, she still risks criticism.

‘I’ve had some unkind comments; one mom asked me why Ella has “droopy eyes,” and another mom wanted to know why I posted a photo with stains on Ella’s clothes.

‘Of course I blocked these people, but such unfriendliness gets under your skin.

‘I would never go so far as to change my daughter’s actual characteristics. But I find myself getting caught up, afraid that if I put up a picture of Ella with a runny nose, I’ll be told I’m a bad mother because I didn’t use a tissue before taking the picture?’

That is why Seda has every sympathy for the Princess of Wales. ‘If I feel like I’m being judged and put under the microscope, how on earth is Kate supposed to feel when the eyes of the world are on her and her children?

‘She’s just a mother like all of us, with three children who are never allowed to sit still. Their clothes will never be perfect and neither will hers. It’s no wonder she wanted to adjust the images here and there.

As long as they aren’t completely different, a little editing is fine these days. Us moms all do it, so why on earth can’t Kate?’

Supporter Sadie McGrath, 34, is another mother who strongly supports our future queen.

The mother-of-four – who lives in Birmingham with her 15-year-old daughter, 12-year-old son and younger daughters, Sofia, four, and Iona, two – started digitally altering her images two years ago. ‘When I had Iona, I became a representative of a company that makes environmentally friendly cloth diapers. I started posting pictures of her wearing them on Instagram and got a discount if my pictures led to sales.

‘Of course I wanted my photos to be the best they could be, so I started looking at what other mums were doing online. I soon started experimenting with using editing tools.

‘I have a multitude of apps on my phone, including Lightroom and Photoroom. The basic packages are free and are all I need for the type of editing I do.

‘I soon realized that I enjoyed photoshopping the children’s photos to make them look nicer.

‘My favorite thing to do is take a photo of my girls at home, and then edit each photo to make it look like they are somewhere much more exciting or glamorous.

‘Why a boring photo of Sofia on the stairs, or Iona in our lounge in a dreary old age, when they could be sitting in an ambitious luxury kitchen with the sun streaming in, or next to a lavish Christmas tree?

‘I imagine most people would assume I took the photos in my own home. I don’t think they’d be jealous of the fancy kitchen backdrop, but you never know.’

It is a process that can be completed in just 20 minutes.

“Family and friends post photos with messy backgrounds and their kids captured just like they do on Facebook, and I’m the last person to judge anyone.

‘But you just have to have striking images on Instagram; there’s no room for a pile of laundry in the background, as much as that is the reality for most of us moms.”

It’s not just the background that gets a touch of glossy shine, though. Sadie’s children also get a shine.

‘Sofia has eczema so I’m going to digitally erase it from her skin, or if there’s a blob of food on her upper body, I’m going to take it off. I also gave my eldest daughter a smile and made myself look slimmer.

‘The girls enjoy being photographed. Sofia understands that I am manipulating the images, and she will say ‘wow’ when I show her what I have done.

‘And the responses I get are intoxicating, like “beautiful photos” and “she’s cute.” As indulgent as it sounds, nice compliments like that make it all worth it.”

It explains why Sadie, who has nearly 28,000 images on her phone, goes to such lengths to get the “perfect” photo.

‘When we are at home, I usually take pictures while the children are reading; when we’re out, we’ll go to a local park. I always check the weather! Spring is ideal with the long grass, trees and flowers in bloom. It means I don’t have to edit the background.

‘My sister asks me to take pictures of her children and if I can adjust her images for her too.’

As for Sadie’s older children, she admits that they are “harder to photograph now; they don’t really want their picture taken.” But that doesn’t stop her from “also changing the light or color in images of it.”

This makes perfect sense to Agatha Wrzesinska, 34, a stay-at-home mother living in Edinburgh with her four children, Nico, 13; David, ten; Mia, two and Leo, five months.

She has been interested in photography since her early twenties and mainly uses a second-hand Canon RP camera, which cost her £700 (a £300 Canon PowerShot G12 is the Princess of Wales’s camera of choice).

‘Like the Princess of Wales, I enjoy capturing those precious moments of family life in my spare time. So many experiences are blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, and our memories can only hold so much. I like to play with colors and make my photos as attractive as possible. For me it is an outlet for creative expression.

On a more practical level, I can remove all unwanted distractions from photos: from red eyes to ugly objects in the background.

‘People usually don’t notice; we are all so used to manipulated images that it is the norm these days. It’s been happening in the advertising world for decades: why shouldn’t we moms do the same?

‘I use Lightroom to smooth out discolored skin patches on my children’s faces. Leo has eczema and I tend to just get rid of it. I want my children to look their best.

‘There is no need for me to defend my actions. I just remove the dry skin from my child’s face or clear up the background. It’s hardly a criminal offense, right?’

As for the issue of posting a photo online that hasn’t been digitally enhanced in some way, it’s a firm ‘no’ from Agatha.

“It’s rare that you capture an image that can’t be improved,” she says. “In a heartbeat, I’d say 99 percent of my photos of my family have been digitally manipulated in some way.

‘Can you blame us mothers for sprinkling a little bit of digital fairy dust on our loved ones? If it makes the images better, you’d be crazy not to do that.’

Lockdown baby Lucas Tindall is often pictured putting on an adorable performance while petting horses with his horse-obsessed mother, Zara.

But it turns out that Lucas, three today, looks like his parents in more ways than one…

Father and former England rugby player Mike Tindall earned himself the title of ‘cool, fun uncle’ at the platinum anniversary celebrations as he donned a matching beige suit and entertained an unruly Prince Louis.

But he is also known for his characterful facial expressions and it seems he has passed on his frown to his youngest son.

As the pair cheered on Zara at the Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials in Norfolk last year, young Lucas’s furrowed brow and concerned look bore an uncanny resemblance to his father.

Mike and his wife Zara, the niece of King Charles III, share three children – Mia, ten, Lena, five, and Lucas, three – who became 24th in line to the throne after Princess Eugenie announced she is expecting a baby in the summer .

Meanwhile, Mike announced the birth of their youngest child on The Good, The Bad and the Rugby podcast and called his wife a “warrior” after she had to give birth to Lucas on the bathroom floor of their home on the Gatcombe Park estate. .

The couple organized childcare for Mia and Lena after Zara had contractions the night before but they didn’t have time to get to the hospital.

Mike recalled, “He was run into the gym, get a mat, go to the bathroom, towels down, brace brace brace!”

‘Luckily the midwife who was supposed to meet us at the hospital wasn’t that far away, so she drove up, got there exactly as we had assumed the position, and then the second midwife arrived just after the head had arrived!’

When asked how Zara was doing, he replied: ‘As any man will say, she was a warrior, as always. They always are.

“We can never judge a woman by what they go through during labor, so… no, she was awake again, we took him for a walk this morning, and yeah, all good.”

But Mike said she was in so much pain she ‘almost choked me to death’ when speaking about Lucas’ birth during his appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2022.

The proud dad revealed that as soon as Lucas was born, he immediately took him downstairs to watch a ‘ridiculously old’ rugby match between Bath and Wigan.

Zara and Mike were the first royals to openly talk about their two miscarriages after the birth of their eldest daughter in 2014.

Speaking about her experience to The Sunday Times in 2018, Zara said the hardest part of her first miscarriage was telling the world because news of the pregnancy had been made public.

She explained: ‘In our case it was something that was really rare; it was nature saying, “This one isn’t right.” I had to go through the labor because it was already so far along.”

The royal couple first met at the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia and have been married since 2011.

Mike candidly discussed their first date on I’m A Celeb, saying: ‘First real date, just went for lunch locally. And it ended up being quite drunk. Then we discovered that we both enjoy being spanked. It was a good start.

He recalled: ‘I was at the World Cup, she was watching. I was dropped from the semi-finals.

‘I was exhausted so I went for a beer with another guy who was being dropped off and a guy who was passing [in Sydney]. They had met her before, they introduced us and we started talking.’

The couple live at Zara’s mother, Princess Anne’s, Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire – which was bought as a wedding gift for the princess by her mother, the late Queen.

Anne and her ex-husband, Captain Mark Phillips, moved in 1977 and raised their two children Zara and her older brother Peter on the estate.

Kristen Dout‘s romance with Lucas Broderik started as a summer date, but quickly became something more.

The Vanderpump Rules alum met Broderick in June 2022 when he served as a bridesmaid and groomsman at their mutual friend’s wedding.

“Right after we met at the wedding, or like hung out at the wedding, we had sex,” Doute revealed during a December 2022 episode of the series “Love, sex and what else matters“podcast.

Doute confessed that she was hesitant to pursue a relationship with Broderick after their breakup Alex Menache in June 2022.

“I had trouble being your person. I love you so much, but just the thought of being someone’s girlfriend again messed me up because I want to be a wife and a mother,” she explained.

The pair ultimately followed through on their respective reservations and went public in December 2022. In March 2024, they took their romance to the next level by starring together in The valley.

Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan has released two new photos on the occasion of her son Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck’s fourth birthday.

The 33-year-old Queen of Bhutan, who is also called the Kate Middleton of the Himalayas, got to work on it Instagram to share the sweet images.

The second child of Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, 44, flashed a beaming smile as he played outside in the first image.

Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, second in the line of succession after his elder brother Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel, looked dapper in traditional attire.

The second image offered a close-up of the four-year-old holding up flags with a dragon motif, believed to be taken during the Lunar New Year, which heralded the Year of the Dragon.

In the snap, he was staring at the camera with a calm expression as he donned traditional Bhutanese attire.

The Queen shared the photos with the caption: “Congratulations to His Royal Highness Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck who turns four today.”

Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck was born on March 19, 2020 at Lingkana Palace in Thimphu.

It comes after Bhutan’s royal family held a lavish naming ceremony in December to announce the name of their third child.

Three months after the birth of a daughter, Queen Jetsun Pema and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck introduced Her Royal Highness the Gyalsem, who has been named Sonam Yangden Wangchuck.

The royal household shared the happy news and photos of the glamorous celebrations on the Queen’s official Instagram account.

The message explained that Sonam is a Bhutanese name that denotes ‘merit, longevity and happiness’.

The queen, who already has two sons, Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, seven, and Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, four, stunned in a traditional purple dress with gold patterns.

Meanwhile, Sonam was wrapped in a silk pink blanket and a matching hat, with pink embellishments that mirrored the blanket.

Sonam’s older brothers, Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck and Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, looked just as adorable as they celebrated their sister and posed for photos.

The message explained: “Her Royal Highness the Gyalsem is called Sonam Yangden Wangchuck.

‘Sonam is a Bhutanese name meaning merit, longevity and happiness. The name Yangden, which means precious jewel, signifies prosperity and well-being.

‘The naming ceremony took place in Tashichhodzong on the anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the Golden Throne in 2006.

‘The ceremony was presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo. His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Their Majesties the Queen Mothers and members of the Royal Family attended the ceremony.

“Representatives of the Dratshang presented Ku Sung Thugten Mendrel. The Dzongdas, Thrizins and Lam Netens of twenty dzongkhags, representing the people of Bhutan, performed buelwa sacrifices.

‘Her Royal Highness, the third child of Their Majesties The King and Gyaltsuen, was born on September 9 this year.’

Last year, the Queen joined the royal family at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein of Jordan, and attended King Charles’ coronation in London in early May with her husband.

King Jigme, the hugely popular fifth Druk Gyalpo, studied in Britain and the US and ascended the throne in 2006, aged just 26, after his own father abdicated.

Unlike his son, who plans to have a monogamous marriage, the former king, who introduced democracy to Bhutan during his reign, has four wives, all sisters, whom he married on the same day.

But despite his own upbringing, the current monarch has made it clear he only wants one wife, whom he married on October 13, 2011, while she was still studying international relations at Regent’s College London.

The match made headlines at the time because the young king was more openly affectionate with his wife than citizens were used to – leading the couple to be dubbed ‘the William and Kate of the Himalayas’.

The Bhutanese King and Queen married in 2011 – the same year Prince William and Kate got married – and have since welcomed your children.

However, the king’s very public displays of affection – including kissing his wife on the cheek and holding her hand – were well received by young people, with many even choosing to follow the royals’ example.

The couple have an unusually close family, with the King’s sister and brother married to the Queen’s brother and sister.

The Queen’s older sister, Yeatso Lhamo, is married to the King’s brother, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

He’s been romantically linked to Cara Delevigne, Bella Hadid and Laura Woods during his 12 years in the spotlight.

But despite the intense interest in his romantic history, Anthony Joshua has always tried to keep his love life strictly private.

However earlier this month, the British boxer, 34, sent tongues wagging when he put on an affectionate display with influencer and businesswoman Kika Osunde.

After his triumph over Francis Ngannou on Saturday night, the athlete looked thrilled when he spotted Kika in the crowd after the match in Saudi Arabia. 

AJ ran over to the social media star, 37, and gave her a hug before she then planted a kiss on his cheek.

According to The Sun, Anthony said to her: ‘How are you Kika? I haven’t seen you in so long! How are you?’

Days later, Kika posted a video on her Snapchat showing her arms wrapped around Anthony as they enjoyed some quad biking around sand dunes in Dubai.

As well as boasting almost 275,000 Instagram followers and being one of Snapchat’s ‘Top 5 UK Stars’, Kika is the proud co-founder of wig brand Good Hair and the Lagos restaurant Brass and Copper.

Although Anthony insists that he only has a relationship with professional boxing, here FEMAIL delves into the backstory of the woman who may have stolen his heart – from a leaked nude photo scandal to being slammed for a pricey career Q&A.

Upbringing and business dreams

Nigerian Kika was born in North West London in December 1987 and was the youngest of four ‘eccentric’ children, as she details on her website. 

In an interview with Femmetrepreneur in 2017, Kika explained how her friends call her ‘Keeks or Ronks’ and described herself as ‘fun, warm, fashionable and vibrant’.

Praising her upbringing, Kika told the publication: ‘My mother is my biggest supporter and has inspired me to be the ambitious, tenacious devotee of Good Hair. She taught me good work ethic and how to be a go getter!’ 

Setting her sights on the business world from a young age, Kika applied to study Business & Marketing at University College Birmingham. 

During her time at university, Kika met her business partner Chioma and the pair bonded over their shared love of wigs and weaves.

Following their graduation, Kika and Chioma set up Good Hair in 2009 and began extensively promoting it on Facebook – where they amassed a following of 135,000 in just two years.

As well as selling their hair extensions online, the pair also set up a salon in Lagos – which also offers nail, lash and male grooming services.

In January 2018, Kika and Chioma set up the restaurant Brass & Copper in Lagos, which they described as having a ‘metallic Scandi-esque vibe’. 

Kika’s ‘arrest warrant’

In early 2020, Kika found herself embroiled in scandal in Nigeria after being accused of leaking a nude photo of a fashion designer, who is married to a billionaire businessman.

After damaging stories about the designer emerged in local media, the journalists responsible claimed Kika was their source – which the social media star has always denied.

Nigerian publication The Will reported that the social media star was wanted by police for questioning but had ‘taken refuge in Ghana’ at the time before later returning to the UK.

In March 2020, Kika addressed the allegations against her on her Instagram Stories.

She said in a statement: ‘I wish to inform the general public that I’ve seen what is out there against me and my person. But anyway, I’m not ready to join issues with anybody.

‘As it stands, I’m in discussions with my lawyer and I’m making a complaint to the British authorities to be aware that there is also a threat to my life. At this point, I’m not safe anymore. I’m aware that I’ve been reported to the DSS. 

‘I know my rights and the law is going to take its cause (sic). I’m going to follow through the due process to fight my battle.

But not relent, I’m not scared of blackmail or intimidation from those trying to hide their atrocities.

At the appropriate time I will speak my truth with facts. I know my rights, and I will fight for my rights. Stay tuned…’

Kika does not appear to have ever addressed the allegations again. In an interview with Nigerian publication The Guardian, Kika revealed how she spent the pandemic in the UK.

She explained: ‘I’ve stayed very close to my family. We all decided to quarantine together, which was the best decision we made as we went through all the mental and emotional turmoils of a global pandemic together.’ 

Slammed for ‘Kika Experience’ 

Kika now splits her time between London and Dubai and has amassed over 593,000 followers on Snapchat.

The social media star has been named a ‘Top 5 UK Snapchat Star’, having racked up over 100m views on the platform.

In 2022, the star hosted an event in London called ‘The Kika Experience’ where followers could pay £225-a-ticket for an exclusive Q&A with the influencer.

On her blog, Kika wrote: ‘By the end of the experience, you’ll walk away with a playbook telling you all you need to know creating and leveraging valuable relationships across your career.’ 

On her YouTube channel The Way Up with Sol, social media star Solange criticised Kika for asking her fans to pay £225 for a ticket without specifying who the panellists at the experience would be.

Solange said: ‘Even though [her fans] want to get that experience, they might need a little more explanation because there are so many scammers out there.’

In February 2023, Kika was pictured rubbing shoulders with ex British Vogue editor Edward Enninful at a Snapchat and Vogue augmented reality fashion exhibition opening in London.

She wrote on her blog: ‘I had a chance to talk with the amazing Edward Enninful, and at one point, I even locked eyes with the legendary Anna Wintour herself who was impressed by my [Victoria Beckham] shimmery dress. It was unbelievable to be in the same room as such an icon.’ 

In recent years, Kika has worked with Tiffany & Co, Tom Ford and Chanel. She has also set up the Kika Asunde Foundation, which provides mentoring, accessible financing and ‘entrepreneurship training’ to local communities. 

Anthony Joshua ‘romance’ 

Although it is not known when the pair met, Anthony Joshua put on a very cosy display with British hair salon owner and influencer Kika Osunde following his knockout match in Dubai earlier this month.

The boxing champ cuddled up to the star as they quad biked through the desert after sharing a ringside kiss two round demolition of Francis Ngannou in nearby Saudi Arabia.

According to The Sun AJ rushed to Kika in the crowed following the match and asked: ‘How are you Kika? I haven’t seen you in so long! How are you?’.

As she replied: ‘Congratulations. I’m good,’ before planting a kiss on his cheek.

They later went racing through the Dubai dunes with Kika wrapping her arms around the athlete and resting her head on his back. 

According to the publication Anthony had been riding alone, with Kika in a nearby buggy with pals, before she jumped on to join him.

A source said: ‘They looked very cosy and like they were having fun with each other.’ 

The pair also dined together at swanky Lebanese restaurant Babati Lounge and posed with pals for a snap outside the venue. 

A spokesman for AJ told MailOnline: ‘Anthony is in a relationship…. with professional boxing. He has no time for extra commitments. He is having a break from boxing and will return to the gym this week. Sadly the claims of a relationship are just rumours.’

Anthony, who shares eight-year-old son JJ with ex partner Nicole Osbourne, has previously been linked to Gigi Hadid and Rita Mahrez, the then wife of Man City player Riyad Mahrez. 

Last year Anthony revealed why he still lived with his mother insisting that any future partner would struggle to convince him to move out.

The boxer, who moved back into his mother’s two bedroom ex-council flat in 2017 sat down with Louis Theroux to discuss his close relationship with his family and warned future girlfriends they’ll need to compete with his mum, Yeta Odusanya.

‘I still live with my mum,’ the two-time world champion told the BBC. ‘In our culture, we grew up in our own family home, we support our parents. 

‘Why am I going to move out and leave my mum by herself, for some girl? Family is the most important thing. 

‘When a girl gets with me, she ain’t just marrying me, she’s marrying my family.’

The grounded boxing star, who is not publicly in a relationship, admitted that he likes to keep his personal life private as he cannot live up to the expectations people have of him.

He continued: ‘Are we going to dissect everything I say and use it as a narrative to create a story? That’s why I keep myself to myself.

‘You put all this pressure on yourself to come and be this big star and be perfect. I’m telling you, they’ll pull you down. The higher you are, the bigger the drop.’

Don’t kiss them even if they’re Irish – like stars Pierce Brosnan, Jamie Dornan And Cillian Murphy they are all from Ireland and all happily married.

Some didn’t even have to leave the Emerald Isle to find love. Bono started his career performing for his high school in Dublin, where he also met his current wife. Ali Hewson.

“We were teenagers. We went to the same school, high school,” the U2 frontman said at the Glamor Women of the Year Awards in November 2016. “Coincidentally, it was this afternoon [in 1976] I took her to her bus – isn’t that strange?’

While not all Irish exports have found love in their native country, many Irish stars have had long-term relationships. Brosnan celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary with Keely Shaye Smith in August 2021.

“Happy birthday my sweet Keely, my love grows with you forever…,” Brosnan wrote via Instagram at the time.

So many stars said “sláinte” as they celebrated St. Patrick’s Day 2024.

“Happy St. Paddy’s ,” The bear star Ayo Edebiri wrote on Sunday, March 17 via Instagram, sharing a blurry selfie with Paul Mescal.

Mescal is of course from Ireland, but Edebiri, 28, was not born and raised on the Emerald Isle. Despite Edebiri being from Boston, the Irish jokingly adopted her as one of their own.

Edebiri and Mescal, 28, aren’t the only ones celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Niall Horan didn’t celebrate in his native Ireland, but he dressed in bright green for his Sunday concert in the Czech Republic.

“St. Paddy’s Day in Prague,” Horan, 30, wrote via Instagram Story, sharing a BeReal selfie as he prepared for his live concert that evening.
