CBFC issues a new rule, including more representation of women and introduction of age-related categories

New Delhi: The government has taken steps to address the concerns of filmmakers and audiences about the activities of the film industry Central Board for Film Certification. This action was taken in accordance with the Cinematograph (Amendment) Act, 2023. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has notified the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024, which replaces the previous Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 1983. This move aims to bring about changes and improvements in the certification process for films in India. Read more.

Measures taken by the Central Board of Film Certification

The government has taken steps to address the concerns of filmmakers and audiences regarding the activities of the Central Board of Film Certification.

CBFC splits film categories into different age groups

The film certification system categorizes films into different age groups to ensure an appropriate viewing experience for audiences. The categories are as follows:

  1. A – This certification applies to films that are suitable for adults only.
  2. UA – Films in this category require parental guidance for children under 12. This category is now further divided into three age-based subcategories: – UA 7: Films suitable for children over 7 years old.
    – UA 13: Films suitable for children aged 13 and over.
    – UA 16: Films suitable for children aged 16 and over.
  3. U – Films in this category are suitable for unlimited public viewing, meaning audiences of all ages can view them. These certifications are intended to help viewers, especially parents, make informed decisions about the suitability of films for different age groups.

How will CBFC’s new regulations help expand the film industry?

The new regulations enable faster processing of film certification by implementing fully digital processes, reducing transaction time. For ease of doing business, a ‘priority screening’ provision has been introduced to expedite certification in urgent cases due to previous film release commitments. This will increase transparency and remove any biases.

The new rules regarding the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are aimed at providing greater representation and access to women and disabled people. In an effort to promote diversity, the rules stipulate that one-third of CBFC board members should be women, and ideally half of the members should be women. This initiative is important as it aims to address the underrepresentation of women in decision-making roles within the film certification process.

CBFC on inclusion of disabled people in advisory panels

Furthermore, the rules also emphasize the importance of including disabled persons on CBFC advisory panels, signaling a commitment to ensuring that diverse perspectives and experiences are taken into account in the film certification process. This move towards inclusivity is a positive step towards creating a more representative and equitable film industry. The regulations now allow perpetual validity of CBFC certificates, removing the previous restriction of only ten years of validity. The release also stated that recertification of edited films for television broadcast is necessary as only films in the Unrestricted Public Exhibition (U) category can be shown on television.

Jonathan Ross has turned down the new series of The Crown after the final episodes of the Netflix show were released.

Series six, part two, dropped on the streaming giant on Thursday, December 14, bringing the infamous show about the British Royal Family to an end.

The episodes explore William and Harry’s grief following Diana’s death, the final years of Princess Margaret’s life, as well as William and Kate’s first romance while studying at St Andrews University.

But the series has proven controversial for its deeply intimate portrayal of recent events, including scenes involving surviving members of the royal family.

Speaking on the Reel Talk podcast with his daughter Honey, Jonathan said: ‘We can’t judge the early episodes in the same way as the recent ones.

“We can judge recent events because we’ve lived through them, and we can say this isn’t fair, this doesn’t feel like it’s accurate, this doesn’t feel like a fair representation.”

The comedian continued: “I don’t think history will look very kindly on The Crown as a television series.

‘I think we’ll look back and say, “That wasn’t a good thing to do,” and it’s weird because it started out with so much praise and it was held up as a nice example, but now, critically, they’ve done that . killed their own baby.”

Jonathan and his daughter Honey, 26, had watched the series before it was released to the general public.

Using examples of the famous photos of Diana on the boat and Kate in her fashion show at St Andrews University, Schat said: ‘All these things we’ve seen, and it feels so recent and it feels too early.

She added, “It bothered me… I feel really sad for the family that is still alive that they have to watch or hear people watching the most traumatic time in their lives being beautifully recreated for Netflix.”

However, Ross praised the acting itself, saying it has maintained the “quality” from the beginning, paying particular attention to Elizabeth Debicki for her “incredible” performance as Princess Diana.

As the infamous drama came to an end, viewers quickly admitted on social media that they were “heartbroken.”

Reviewers had mixed reactions to the final episodes of The Crown, particularly the introductions of Kate (Meg Bellamy) and William (Ed McVey)

Critics also praised the scenes with Princess Margaret (Lesley Manville), seeing her role as a way to hark back to the more historical elements of the earlier seasons.

Critics also praised the scenes with Princess Margaret (Lesley Manville), seeing her role as a way to hark back to the more historical elements of the earlier seasons.

They shared their dismay that The Crown was finally coming to an end after six series and told how the final scenes were ‘so sad’.

On X – formerly known as Twitter – someone wrote: “I just finished season 6 of The Crown, part 2. Oh my God. Wow.’

Meanwhile, Meg Bellamy, 21, who plays a young Kate Middleton, admitted she “didn’t remember the real life events” depicted in the final season as the trio revealed how that affected their performances.

Part two brings the key university moment in the blossoming relationship between the current Prince and Princess of Wales to our screens.

Meg explained, “We were babies, we don’t really remember any of the actual events of this series.”

“I think that’s helpful because we could just look at it as a character on the page,” Ed added.

Reel Talk with Honey & Jonathan Ross is now on Global Player with new episodes every Monday.

The final episodes of the show debuted on the streaming platform on December 14, weeks after the first half of series six was released last month

Jennifer Lopez looked sensational as she covered the latest issue of Vogue Mexico.

The artist, 53, was a vision of beauty as she posed for the magazine’s cover shoot, while also discussing motherhood and representing Latina women in Hollywood.

J Lo recently starred in the Netflix hit The Mother, playing an assassin who comes out of hiding to protect her daughter, whom she abandoned earlier in life.

Although she’s already a mom to two kids — sharing 15-year-old twins Emme and Max with her ex-husband Marc Anthony — she revealed that starring in the action movie led her to reevaluate her relationship with her kids.

She told the fashion bible, “It really helped me overanalyze it because when you live your life you don’t really analyze it, but when you work on a character you dig deeper into what they’re going to do.” Through.’

“It got me thinking, What does she have to do to go from a mother-baby relationship to an adult relationship? Are you going to hide things from me or are we going to be open and candid? All those questions came to my mind.’

Jennifer also reflected on her early film roles, with the Spanish actress revealing she was stereotyped by producers.

She explained, “At first I think I only got parts where I had an accent. And then it gradually changed because I stood my ground.

“I just wanted to play ‘a girl,’ you know, I didn’t even want to know what her last name or her first name was.”

The Selena star said the first role she landed playing just “a girl” was the 2001 romcom The Wedding Planner, where she starred alongside Matthew McConaughey.

“Normally you would have seen figures like Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock or Julia Roberts in that role,” she explained. “But once that happened, once I got that role, I think things really changed.”

Since then, Jennifer has starred in numerous rom-coms, thrillers, and dramas.

Her performance in the 2020 drama Hustlers earned her a Golden Globe and SAG Award nomination, and there was even talk of an Oscar nomination.

At the moment, Jennifer is busy furnishing her recently acquired home, the ‘Wallingford estate’, a 5 acre lot with 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms.

The property was initially listed in 2018 with a price tag of $135 million. This year, however, the value was reduced by almost fifty percent at a new listing.

Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Jennifer and husband Ben Affleck spent $60.85 million in cash on a stunning 4,000-square-foot mansion.

The transaction closed within a week and they paid nearly $15 million less than the original asking price of $75 million.

It was reported that the couple had been looking for a new home for nearly a year and encountered difficulties during the escrow process of three different properties. However, they eventually settled into a new residence in Beverly Hills.

In May, rumors circulated that Ben and Jen were not getting along at the premiere of her latest movie, The Mother.

Speculators interpreted their body language on the red carpet during an argument as tense and belligerent; however, a source close to the couple told DailyMail.com that “the story that they fight all the time is false.”

“They’re in an incredibly good place, very loving and supportive of each other,” the insider revealed before debunking recent reports that they were caught in a public altercation while promoting her new thriller, The Mother.
