But despite Southgate, 53, being touted as the successor to Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, Maguire claims he would prefer to see him as his international rather than club manager.

Ahead of hosting Brazil tomorrow, defender Maguire said: “We want to be successful at the European Championship. We don’t watch the World Cup; the European Championship is our main goal.

“And if Gareth is the man who will make us successful, then we want him to stay as long as possible.

“He has the respect of the players and everyone who worked under him.

“It’s so tough being England boss. It is one of the most researched jobs in the world.

“All you can look at is where we were before he took over and where we are now. Everyone will say: ‘Yes, but we have better players now’.

“But in previous years we had great players and we were not successful.

“He deserves a lot of credit, he has helped us a long way.

“If you speak to anyone they will speak highly of Gareth’s tactical management, but also his man-management.”

Southgate’s contract expires in December and will not discuss a new deal until after the European Championship.

Four England stars train away from the rest of the squad after a blow to Gareth Southgate ahead of Brazil’s clash

But it is believed he would prefer a return to club management.

Maguire was a cornerstone of England’s defense as they reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 European Championship, before a quarter-final exit in Qatar in 2022.

But the United man added: “I’m sure Gareth will say the same thing now: ‘it’s all about winning a trophy’.”

Maguire, who has won 62 caps under Southgate, was backed by the Lions boss even as he struggled for game time at United.

He added: “The faith and trust he has shown in me has been brilliant.”

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford claims the players will not be swayed by speculation over Southgate’s future.

He said: “Our goal is to win the European Championship. All the noise around everything else comes after.”

Above all, the 126-player Belgian is determined to make an impact on the Stamford Bridge pitch once again.

Hazard will line up for Unicef’s World XI on June 9 against an English team led by former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard.

He has a lot more to smile about than just the piggy bank, having brought home more than £20million a year in profits at Real.

But pride is at stake in the charity match, as is his reputation on the ground where he enjoyed the best seven years of his career.

Hazard said The standard: “I don’t want to look like Peppa Pig!

But he has done the best he can in retiring – and has “no regrets” making such a young decision.

Peter Navarro, trade adviser to Donald J. Trump during his presidency, will report to prison Thursday after a federal appeals court refused his near-final attempt to remain free while appealing his conviction for contempt of Congress.

The ruling meant that, barring an 11th-hour Supreme Court intervention, which his lawyers previously vowed to invoke if necessary, Mr. Navarro will have to obey a Bureau of Prisons order and report to a federal prison on Tuesday in Miami. , which would make him the first senior aide to Mr. Trump to serve time for his role in the effort to overturn the 2020 election.

Mr. Navarro, 74, was sentenced to four months in prison in January for refusing to cooperate with the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. The committee had subpoenaed Mr. Navarro for documents and testimony, seeking his testimony about a plan he devised to delay the certification of the election by holding up the counting of electoral votes.

After receiving the subpoena, Mr. Navarro dismissed the committee based on the belief, he argued at trial, that Mr. Trump had instructed him not to testify and to assert executive privilege. professions.

Lawyers for Mr. Navarro have consistently argued that his case raises new legal questions about executive privilege and is likely to lead to new insights into Congress’s oversight of the executive branch. They have also pointed to Stephen K. Bannon, another aide to Mr. Trump, who was allowed to remain free while he appealed an identical sentence for similarly obstructing the commission.

But a three-judge panel of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit disagreed, writing that he had “failed to demonstrate that his appeal raises substantial questions of law or fact likely to result in a reversal, a retrial, a sentence which shall not include imprisonment or a reduction in sentence less than the time already served.”

The order upheld a ruling by Judge Amit P. Mehta, who presided over the trial, in February turned down Mr. Navarro’s request to remain free while his appeal is heard.

LUKE Yates certainly hasn’t been kicking his feet up and dragging his feet during his enforced absence – the 6am classes at a CrossFit center proved that.

But while he may have earned a breather this offseason, with a three-match suspension ruling him out of the start of the season, he revealed he kept the pedal to the metal when he could easily have done nothing.

And CrossFit participants at his adopted Saddleworth had a guest next to them, while most people were still in bed.

“I left with the wife, but I wanted to stay here and train a little bit,” Yates said.

“My wife goes to a CrossFit gym, Saddleworth CrossFit, and I would go there with her early in the morning for 6am classes.

“They do conditioning sessions, so I joined in. When they did CrossFit, I only did weights.

“It’s an important season for us. We didn’t have a good season last year and we need to improve, but we have the right group. There were some really positive things that came out of training.”

Yates may sound as Aussie as they come and having grown up in bustling Newcastle, New South Wales, and lived in London, Salford and Manchester, he is used to city life.

But he has set up base in Saddleworth, where green fields dominate and the closest to high-rises is a large stable block.

And the change is sitting pretty well, as the 28-year-old added before tonight’s trip to Castleford: “I think it’s really great. It is nice and quiet and there are good cafes and restaurants that are quite local.

“I now like living in the countryside and my partner loves it there. It feels like home to me.

“It’s completely different to Newcastle and life moves at a completely different pace. We live there on the coast and on the beach. That’s nice, but Saddleworth is beautiful in different ways.

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson recently signed a record $200 million dollar contract to stay with KIIS FM for the next ten years.

But Sandilands, 52, has revealed that the radio duo’s former employers, 2DayFM, have taken a bold move to have them return to the network.

“We were offered so much money by the old joint [to come back]the shock jock said on Thursday morning’s Kyle and Jackie O Show.

“We don’t want to go there, but they’re going to give us a lot of money,” he revealed the pair told each other during negotiations.

A return to 2DayFM would likely have meant the pair taking over the breakfast slot currently occupied by Hughesy, Ed and Erin’s show.

Sandilands first faced the paparazzi rumors in July last year when he returned to Sydney from his European honeymoon.

Sandilands hinted that he was open to a possible move if he received an attractive offer, asking Jackie: “What’s my motto?”

“Where there’s a cash register, there’s a way,” she replied.

Kyle confirmed she was right and joked that this was Jackie’s motto too.

‘This is like sports rights for radio. “It is very likely this will be the largest talent media deal ever,” a network insider said at the time.

ARN Media CEO and Managing Director Ciaran Davis told Daily Mail Australia: “We do not view contract negotiations as a one-off exercise.”

In the wood-paneled shop in Cairo’s famous Khan el-Khalili market, the price of gold was falling rapidly and Rania Hussein felt the future slipping through her fingers.

She and her mother watched as the gold dealer weighed the necklace and three bracelets they had brought; jewelry that Mrs. Hussein had bought as a gift for her mother five years ago, but now had to sell. Her brother was getting married, an expensive undertaking even in normal times, but the economic crisis and rising inflation that have gripped Egypt for more than two years left the family no choice.

Years of reckless spending and economic mismanagement came to a head in 2022, when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine plunged Egypt into a financial crisis. The war in Gaza has only exacerbated the pain.

The crisis has raised the price of eggs at the supermarket, as well as the new furniture her brother traditionally has to buy for the marital home, Ms Hussein said. It also shuttered her clothing design business and wiped out three-quarters of the value of her brother’s accountant salary.

And, as a strange side effect, it turned the normally quiet gold jewelry and precious metals shops of Khan el-Khalili upside down, with their old-fashioned signs with scrolled letters and Koran recitations drifting incessantly from dusty loudspeakers. Over the past two years, gold-buying speculators have entered the market as a crashing Egyptian currency boosted demand for gold as a safe haven after the unrest.

While the metal’s price has generally risen despite the occasional setback, its value has ebbed and flowed along with demand depending on the vagaries of daily economic news, a volatility that has baffled consumers and traders alike .

On the day Ms. Hussein visited the market, the price of gold was falling rapidly following news that Egypt may have found a lifeline to save the country from what until then seemed like impending financial ruin. The country signed a $35 billion deal late last month for the United Arab Emirates to develop a new city and tourist destination on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.

Within hours of the deal’s announcement, the Egyptian pound strengthened, the value of the dollar fell on the black market and the price of gold fell with it.

If the Emirati funds materialize as promised, analysts say, the money, along with a new bailout deal with the International Monetary Fund expected within weeks, will help Egypt stabilize its economy. It will help the country avoid debt default, pay for a backlog of needed imports and undermine the dollar black market created by a shortage of foreign currency.

But for the Egyptians, the damage has already been done.

As they watched the value of their salaries and savings evaporate over the past two years, the poor cut back on food, the middle class withdrew their children from good schools for cheaper or free schools, and even the better off went without vacations and meals. out. Millions of people fell into poverty.

“It is not guaranteed that the gold price will rise, and I am afraid it will fall again,” Ms Hussein said of the falling gold price as she sat in the market shop and explained why she had decided to sell. . “And the price of furniture should come down, but we have yet to see that.”

She sighed and added, “It’s all a joke.”

The turbulence has turned many people into reluctant speculators, their lives dominated by uncertainty and rumors. Checking the rate of the dollar on the black market has become as common as checking the weather forecast.

On paper, Ms Hussein would collect more for the jewelery than what she paid for it five years ago, but two years of rampant inflation and a falling pound would likely wipe out any gains. The price of many goods is now determined by the value of the dollar on the black market, which rose to around 70 pounds per dollar last month, up from around 16 pounds before the crisis. “Even vegetable sellers are worried about the dollar price,” said Ms. Hussein’s mother, Tamrihan Abdelhadi. “Everyone prices in dollars.”

The family had already sold one of Ms. Abdelhadi’s gold rings to pay for the three new rings that the groom’s family traditionally gives to the Egyptian bride, and there was still the couple’s apartment to think about.

“It’s so expensive, the living room set for example,” Ms. Hussein said. “This will not be enough for that, but it will go to the fund.”

Since early 2022, a crippling foreign currency shortage caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Egypt’s heavy debt burden has pushed inflation to record highs and plunged the value of the local currency to record lows.

The war in Gaza has worsened the crisis, threatening tourism, a key source of foreign exchange, and halving Egypt’s dollar revenues from the Suez Canal as the Iran-backed Houthi militia has attacked ships in the Red Sea.

Egypt imports oil, wheat and many other goods for which it must pay in dollars. That has made the US currency both indispensable and scarce, creating a murky black market in which the value of the dollar far exceeds the government’s artificially set exchange rate of about 31 pounds to the dollar.

Looking for safe financial havens, Egyptians with savings began pouring them into gold, real estate and cars – anything they thought would hold its value better than the sinking Egyptian pound.

Traditionally, Egyptians have bought gold jewelry as a long-term savings strategy, but speculators have now turned to coins and ingots to make quick profits, said Saeed Imbaby, the founder of iSagha, a gold trading platform.

Ask for gold doubled and then some, raising the price. The market became so excited that in November the government announced it was working with a financial technology company to install ATMs that handing out gold bars instead of cash.

Before the value of the pound began to fall, “I never thought about gold, not even jewelry,” said Nermin Nizar, 52, a translator in Cairo. But “in this panic, I needed everything I could get to protect the value of my money.”

She put her savings into a single gold coin in September. Its value in pounds has risen by 30 percent, although inflation would erode the purchasing power of its profits if it were to sell now.

The speculation wreaked havoc on the Khan el-Khalili gold market as shop owners faced an ever-fluctuating price for the raw material they bought to make rings, necklaces and earrings. Many stopped selling altogether.

“I can’t work because I don’t have a stable price to sell at,” said Amir Salah, the owner of a small gold jewelry store. “I don’t even understand much of what’s going on.”

Now a new uncertainty is gripping the market, albeit with a hint of optimism. The Emirates, a longtime political ally and financial patron of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, has already started transferring billions of dollars to Egypt for the development deal, el-Sisi said on Wednesday. The president, who had lost popular support until the start of the war in Gaza, appears to have been given a reprieve.

“It’s reassuring,” said Nasser Badawi, the owner of the Bullion Trading Center in Khan el-Khalili, which sells small solid gold lollipops and baby bottles as gifts for newborns, along with plain blocks that he said were popular investments last year become. . “Anything that makes me money and helps me through this crisis, why not?”

Preventing the economy of the Middle East’s most populous country from collapsing has also taken on new urgency for Egypt’s Western partners during the war in Gaza. The IMF has announced it will increase a previously agreed loan of $3 billion within weeksThe amount is expected to be around $8 billion, according to five diplomats in Cairo briefed on the talks.

But few details about the Emirates deal were available. The funds would avert bankruptcy, analysts said, but Egypt risked a new crisis if it did not implement meaningful reforms to cut spending, attract more private investment, produce more exports and end the military’s dominance over the economy. Reduce.

Before the deal, growing economic pressures had forced the government to make a number of changes, including freezing some costly megaprojects ordered by El-Sisi that had piled up debt, including a flashy new capital in the desert.

But Egypt now has fewer incentives to change course.

The deal is “a game changer,” said Tarek Tawfik, chairman of the Cairo Poultry Group and president of the Egyptian American Chamber of Commerce. “The question is: how will the money be used?”

Now I’m REALLY worried.

On Tuesday morning, with barely two hours to spare, the Prince of Wales announced he would not show up at the memorial service for the late ex-King Constantine II of Greece, none other than his godfather.

The reason given was ‘due to a personal matter’. Hmmm. He also forfeited the honor of giving a lecture.

All of this immediately made me and so many others worry about Kate.

Twitter caught fire (11,000 posts about William, 47,000 about Kate) with feverish speculation. This is despite the fact that the Palace almost in the same breath insisted that ‘the Princess of Wales is doing well’, which sounds rather lame.

It would almost tell us to keep our proletarian noses out.

Since then we have been assured of the death of Tom Kingston, husband of Lady Gabriella – daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent not the reason for William’s absence.

Last photo together: Lady Gabriella Windsor and her husband Tom Kingston pictured on February 14 this year at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane

That sad announcement was made a few hours after the service, even though he was found dead on Sunday.

Bravely, and if necessary proof that the royals are nothing if not stoic, Gabriella’s parents chose to attend the memorial service.

It was all the more poignant because the venue was St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, where Gabriella and Tom had their wedding in 2019, attended by the late Queen.

Gabriella’s parents looked somber yesterday but gave nothing away. They were in the middle of a family tragedy, but they knew the show had to go on.

Duty: Prince and Princess Michael of Kent at the memorial service for King Constantine of Greece in Windsor on Tuesday, two days after the death of their son-in-law

Duty: Prince and Princess Michael of Kent at the memorial service for King Constantine of Greece in Windsor on Tuesday, two days after the death of their son-in-law

The temptation to stay with Ella and comfort her must have torn the Kents in two, but the royals always put duties first.

Which of course last night only fueled more speculation that if William didn’t show up, something must be terribly wrong.

He was raised with duty as his watchword. Even as a 15-year-old boy, he managed to keep it together and walk behind his mother’s coffin.

What on earth could have caused the dramatic last-minute no-show?

Although most of us have never heard of the late King Constantine, William’s decision not to appear is baffling. The king, who died just over a year ago, was a cousin of William’s grandfather, Prince Philip, and a senior European royal.

Guests included the King and Queen of Spain, as well as Queen Camilla and Princess Anne.

William’s absence has been confusing on so many levels and I wonder why the Palace is allowing the rumor mill to get out of hand by not giving us a good reason?

Desperate for news, like so many people, I go online. And there, oh dear, oh dear, is a montage that may not quite bring about the end of the monarchy, but one that suggests it will certainly become irrelevant.

Poignant: Tuesday’s memorial service took place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, where Lady Gabriella married Tom in 2019. Pictured with her parents, brother Lord Frederick and his wife Sophie Winkleman

The photos of the service were downright Victorian: so dark and gloomy and the protagonists – there is no other expression for that – as old as the hills.

Crumbling. No hint of glamour, no juice in those veins.

Of course it was a somber occasion, but didn’t the sight of the Princess of Wales in a black veil at Prince Philip’s funeral give hope for the future?

Unfortunately, the royal attendance consisted mainly of gray heads and wrinkles. And Prince Andrew, 64 – Prince Andrew! – who led the procession to the chapel. That certainly wouldn’t have happened if William had been present.

The Duchess and Duke of Gloucester, 77 and 79. Princess Alexandra was there at 87, Commander Tim Laurence, 68, alongside Princess Anne, 73.

And of course Queen Camilla, 76. The combined age of the royals in the front row was 581.

All this makes me long for William and Catherine: tall and elegant as reeds, far more glamorous than any movie stars.

Why on earth no one thought to get Princess Beatrice (row two), Zara (row three) in the best seats to increase style and youth numbers is beyond me.

And where is Lady Louise, Philip’s granddaughter?

Nor have I spied a single person of color in our royal ranks.

Royal courtiers will of course shout ‘protocol’.

Queen Camilla is holding down the fort, but even she must be thinking, “We’re really on our last legs.”

You can imagine the groans of relief as the congregation sits down.

Of course, age brings experience, gravitas, wisdom and devotion to duty – again, Gabriella’s parents did exactly what the late Queen Elizabeth would have done: straighten their backs and put their game face on.

But this doesn’t guarantee a future, let alone positive oohs and aahs from a waving crowd.

We have never seen William and Kate, or even Harry and Meghan, need such an acute need: they would be an HRT injection. It would be all, ‘What is she wearing?’ “Are the boys talking?” “How’s Harry’s hair?”

Instead we said, ‘The Duke just sat down, oh my God, will he ever come up again?’

Like it or not, the Royal Family is all about glamour, marketing and putting on a show. It shouldn’t look doom-like and smell like mothballs. Princess Michael herself has described the older royal family as ‘boring’ in the past.

Modern style: The Prince and Princess of Wales. Like it or not, the Royal Family is all about glamour, marketing and putting on a show, says Liz Jones

Modern style: The Prince and Princess of Wales. Like it or not, the Royal Family is all about glamour, marketing and putting on a show, says Liz Jones

The royal family looks very gloomy indeed. Bring back the Fab Four, or even a Fab One.

We really can’t bear any more bad news. Prince William must do his duty. Not only for his wife and children, but also for us.

Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson snapped back at her family after being confronted about her indecision to go to college in Colorado without her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell.

In the latest episode of Mama June: Family Crisis titled School Daze, the TV personality, 18, was revealed to only have one week to decide whether she will attend school before losing a $21,000 scholarship.

Back in July 2023, Alana was accepted to Regis University in Denver to pursue a degree in nursing. However, due to Dralin, 22, facing legal issues, the star has been contemplating whether she will go to Colorado without him.

Her sister Lauryn ‘Pumpkin,’ found out about the possibility of Alana losing her scholarship through her daughter Ella – who spilled that Honey Boo Boo had received an email from the university.

Frustrated over her younger sister not telling her about the email, Pumpkin opened about her feelings over the topic and said she would enlist in some help.

‘You know, I’m so sick of Alana being all over the place, whether she wants to go to Colorado or she doesn’t. So how about now it’s time to bring in some sister support?’ she said in a confessional.

In the next scene during the episode, Lauryn was seen stepping into a bathroom to have a private call with sister, Jessica – who also attended college.

At one point, Pumpkin told Jessica that she needs to ‘step up’ while adding, ‘I need you real bad, okay? Because we’re both under the understanding that Alana needs and should go to Colorado.’

‘So I feel like if we leave Mom out of the situation, it’ll maybe make Alana more prone to make her decision.’

Jessica agrees to talk one-on-one with Honey Boo Boo, but both sisters discuss how to make the situation not suspicious. Eventually, Jessica decides that she will take Alana to get her nails done and will find a way to ease into the topic of school.

The next day, the 18-year-old joined her sister for a bit of pampering at a nail salon, and the pair initially discussed her high school graduation and how Mama June’s sister, Aunt Doe Doe, didn’t show up.

Honey Boo Boo explained that afterwards, she had stopped by the house to give her a present and to apologize for not being there. ‘Like really, I don’t care because you should have been there.’

She then brought up that Aunt Doe Doe might have been ‘jealous’ that Mama June was back in their lives but added, ‘People that wanted to be there were there.’

Eventually, the topic of university came up and Alana admitted that she was still unsure what she planned to do.

Jessica tried to convince her to attend the school by saying, ‘I mean, think about it, Alana. We’re the only two that graduated high school.’

She also explained, ‘Do you know how many people don’t go to college, don’t get to experience it? Nobody tells you what to do. You’re grown. If you want to stay up and eat ice cream till 7:00 in the morning, guess what you can do? Eat ice cream till 7:00 in the morning.’

‘You see this little small town we live in? There’s nothing for you. Me and you can both be graduates of college. I was the first one to graduate. You can be the second one and do better than me and go off and actually be a nurse and outshine everybody.’

‘And then when you do all that stuff, you turn around and you look at all these people in this small town and you say, “F*** you,” I did it. Don’t you want to adventure out, see new things, meet new people?’

Jessica also told her, ‘It took me forever to figure out who I was and now I’m happy. And that’s what I want for you. I want you to be living free and happy.’

However, Alana explained, ‘I mean, I want to go to Colorado, but with everything with Dralin and stuff…[it’s] a hard decision right now.’

After expressing her worries over Honey Boo Boo taking a break by not going to college, Alana replied with, ‘Right now, I don’t want to talk about school, Jessie. I want to relax.’

She later added, ‘Why you can’t just give me a break? You pounding me and everything’s just going on right now, y’all are doing too much. I understand you’re trying to be like the mom now. Just give it a rest.’

The confrontation ended with Pumpkin saying, ‘Well, you’re going, so I don’t care,’ causing Honey Boo Boo to yell, ‘Oh my God,’ and walked out of the room.

Lauryn continued to take matters into her own hands by calling Mama June over Alana’s indecision and to get advice over Dralin’s legal situation.

He allegedly drove under the influence back in February 2023 and spent two days in Monroe County jail before being released on a $25,000 bond.

In October, a court clerk confirmed to The Sun that Dralin had pleaded not guilty to four charges after being arraigned.

Pumpkin called Dralin and asked whether he had contacted the bondsman and he revealed he did not. He admitted he was afraid he will be told he cannot go to Colorado with Alana.

Lauryn then told him that if he doesn’t go to the bondsman on his own, she will personally take Dralin.

The Kensington hotel is in a residential area of London, but this four-star hotel with a white stucco facade and a vague Pride & Prejudice vibe deserves an outpouring of praise.

Not least because of the flow of water that flowed through our rain shower head.

I don't often tend to start a hotel review by waxing lyrical about a shower, but this was something special – so powerful that I wondered if the hotel had a tributary of the Thames through the pipes on the first floor to our bathroom had led.

At first I was almost too scared to stand under it, for fear that the few hair follicles left on my head would be shot off.

It turned out to be wonderfully refreshing, a welcome help in waking up for a day that would require top form – as we took advantage of the hotel's proximity to the V&A and took our young daughter into the museum galleries. 'Gabrielle Chanel – Fashion Manifesto' exhibition (which runs until March 10). And who knows what tantrums we'll face: French haute couture isn't necessarily a top priority for a six-year-old.

Ted Thornhill from MailOnline Travel checked into the Kensington hotel in West London and stayed in a room similar to the one above

Fuel for the outing came in the form of a simply excellent breakfast in the hotel's elegant Town House restaurant.

For £40 we could choose a veritable pastry: croissants, eggs benedict, fruit, cheese and cold cuts.

The friendly waiter forgot our sourdough toast twice (the memory of him forgetting…was forgotten). But it turned out for the best: our menu eyes were too big for our stomachs and we practically rolled out the double frame doors of the hotel.

The V&A helps form a cluster of world-class museums – together with the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum – which is just a 10-minute walk from The Kensington.

Additionally, the hotel can provide guests with tickets to shows that are sold out to the general public.

All tickets for the Chanel show had been sucked up months before we checked in, but the property was able to issue us three passes.

Not that my daughter appreciated this. She declared that she was bored for three minutes in the stunning display of Chanel garments and writhed around on the floor to drive home the point.

My French partner, however, was in heaven.

Satisfaction was evenly distributed throughout the hotel, where we all enjoyed the ornate luxury of our room.

Our quarters housed not only an epic shower, but also a claw-foot bath, a four-poster bed, striking floral wallpaper and similarly patterned curtains. And the little one loved the tippe that served as her own mini 'bedroom'.

We didn't manage to have a drink in the hotel's decadently decorated bar, with its soft furnishings and polished wooden panels, but before we left for home we did sample an impressive Sunday roast, which was served to our parents as a inviting dish for two.

It was a bit on the lukewarm side, but the beef pieces were delicious, as the waiter promised.

Are you thinking of staying in London? Put The Kensington on your radar: it's a gem of a hotel in a gem of a location, and guaranteed to impress if power showers are the priority.

The Kensington has upcoming partnerships with the V&A on 'Fragile Beauty: Visions from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection' and 'NAOMI'. Guests can enjoy an overnight stay at the property, including a full English breakfast in the Town House restaurant, and receive two tickets to the exhibition.

A woman traveling the world alone has shared the 'genius' lies she tells others in a bid to stay safe abroad – even going so far as to wear a fake wedding ring.

When Oregon's Rebecca Tribelhorn started jet-setting around the world on her own, she always knew her safety was a top priority — so the solo traveler decided to get creative.

The 32-year-old, who has visited more than 40 countries from Ireland to Mexico, has lied about her relationship status and her ability to speak English during her travels.

Now, after a decade of solo travel, the travel photographer has built quite a reputation for sharing her quirky tips and tricks online.

She urged other female travelers to always trust their instincts and lie often because others may think they are looking for romance.

“Always trust your instincts and tell lies when necessary,” Rebecca instructed.

'You are asked whether you almost always travel alone. Are [usually] innocent – just people who are curious or want to know more about you.

She added: 'Despite this, I always recommend lying and saying you will meet a friend, family or partner later.'

Rebecca explained that some people often misinterpret women who travel alone as actively seeking a romantic partner.

'Some people really won't understand that you like to travel alone and/or just like to be alone, and will simply view your aloneness as an open invitation.

“I've found that saying you have a boyfriend/partner/husband is much more effective at encouraging someone to leave you alone,” she said.

The backpacker even told solo travelers to wear a fake wedding ring if it “helps sell the lie” so they would feel more secure – regardless of whether they are married or not.

One of Rebecca's most important safety tips abroad is to never reveal accommodation information.

She also warned others never to make their accommodation public as this could leave them vulnerable to theft or worse (Photo: Santorini, Greece)

She said this also helps reduce the risk of your valuables being stolen.

“For women especially, it's so important to have a place where you feel safe and secure,” Rebecca explains.

“Lie and say you were jetlagged when you arrived and you can't remember. You can even just pick a random direction, point and say 'that way.'

The 32-year-old also instructed others to never act confused or unfamiliar in an area as this puts you at risk of being taken advantage of.

Rebecca believes that if you act confidently, you reduce the chance of being targeted – but if help is needed, seek it at a local store or restaurant.

“I tell strangers that I've been somewhere before to sell a false idea of trust and knowledge,” she revealed.

'When you travel there is a risk of being scammed, and people who want to take advantage of you want to know that you are not aware of their tricks.

'Even though it is just as 'innocent' as paying too much for a taxi ride.'

But what is the backpacker's most effective lie? Pretend she doesn't speak English.

“This lie is perfect to use when you don't want to deal with it,” the photographer added.

“It's versatile and it's just a quick and not overly rude way to get loose with minimal effort.”

Followers flocked to the comments on the Instagram video in which she shared numerous safety tips for traveling abroad, with many agreeing with telling a few white lies.

'Haha yes!! Travel lies are always acceptable,” one person commented.

A second joked: 'After watching Taken I need all these tips.'

“Haha yeah…sorry, don't speak English and just moving always works,” a third wrote

Another said: 'I hate lying unless I'm traveling alone hahaha.

“I even post my stories one or two stories after so no one knows where I am at the moment.”

The seasoned solo traveler then also gave some general advice on trotting the globe.

Advising her followers to 'start small', she added: 'Do a local weekend trip close to home where you can test your skills but still feel safe knowing you can go home if you need to.

'Then come up with bigger trips or join other solo travelers on a group trip.'

Rebecca believes that traveling is a great way to make friends and meet others who are just as passionate about travel.

“In my experience, most of the people you meet when you travel the world are good people.”

She continued, “These lies I recommend will help protect you from the perhaps 10% chance that something bad could happen.

'For me, it's worth protecting myself at the start, rather than regretting that I didn't take a few seconds to take a precaution that will ensure my journey is smooth and risk-free .'
