Today, TCL Announced prices and availability for its new QM8K series Mini-guided TVs. The newest models replace last year’s flagship TCL QM851Gone of the Best TVs TechRadar tested in 2024 and offers “up to 35% more dimming and up to 65% higher peak clearance” than the middle range TCL QM7K Series, according to the company.
The new TVs are sold in 65 to 98-inch screen sizes, with the 65 and 85-inch models that are now available, and the 75 and 98-inch models that arrive next month. Prices for the QM8K series are as follows:
- 65-inch QM8K: $ 2,299.99
- 75-inch QM8K: $ 2,999.99
- 85-inch QM8K: $ 3,799.99
- 98-inch QM8K: $ 6,499.99
An important feature of the QM8K series is the new Crystglow WHVA panel from TCL with Zeroborder. This new panel design has an anti-reflecting coating to reduce screen enclosure, along with an ultra-wide viewing angle that TCL claims “almost eliminates the color shift, with a 40% wider color viewing corner” than last year’s QM851G series.
Zeroborder refers to the disappearing narrow 3-4 mm width between the edge of the TV and the display in the QM8K series, a design function that TCL has achieved with the help of an aluminum alloy of aluminum alloy in one piece of space travel and anodized ceramphaneel to stabype.
Another QM8K function is the Halo control system from TCL. This uses a new “Super High Energy” LED chip, along with a “super condensed” micro-lens, 23-bit rear light controller and a dynamic light algorithm to improve color accuracy and reduce mini-guided “halo” artifacts. Helping in this respect is the increased number of background lighting local dim zones in the QM8K series, with a maximum of 3,500 in the 98-inch model.
TCL QM8K series TVs have a 144Hz Native refresh speed and Freesync Premium Pro for gaming. They support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ High -dynamic range Formats and equipped with Audio from Bang & Olufsen, with flashy drivers in the TV to deliver Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual: X Sound.
Google TV is used in the QM8K series as a Smart TV platform and has an improved GUI, hands-free speech control and an art mode with AI art. QM8K series TVs also contain a built-in in ATSC 3.0 Tuner For NextGen TV broadcasts.
Ultra-wide viewing angle: a welcome addition
One of the biggest weaknesses of mini-guided and regular LED TVs is uniformity outside the ash. This means that both image contrast and colors shift when watching the TV from Off-Center seats, so that a viewer who is everywhere other than directly in front of the screen will experience a reduced image quality.
When I rated the TCL QM851G, I thought the image quality in general was fantastic, with one main except: uniformity outside the axle. To quote from the review, the “colors and contrast of the QM851G were both taken when viewing distant seats.” This was the main reason why I gave it a 4.5 instead of a 5-star rating for the image quality, and it was one point that it was to get a complete approval as a recommended TV for watching sport.
The Best OLED -tvs Do not suffer from the same problem of the outdoor axle and part of the Best mini-guided TVs Also implement functions to expand the viewing angle. The specifications of TCL for the QM8K indicate that it will have a 40% wider viewing angle, so I hope this new model will offer a huge improvement when it comes to viewing off-center.
TechRadar will soon assess the TCL QM8K, so we will soon have more to say about the issue.
