Telangana CM Revanth Reddy praises Owaisi’s advocacy for the poor, calls for strong opposition | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi was on Saturday lauded by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his advocacy on behalf of the poor and marginalised sections of the society. Speaking at the book launch of Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani’s ‘Prophet for the World’, Reddy acknowledged the importance of a strong opposition to maintain a balanced and effective government.
“The Bhagavad Gita, the Quran and the Bible preach only peace in the world. The holy scriptures of all religions spread the message of welfare of all… It is a matter of pride that the president of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board comes from this region,” Reddy said, referring to Rahmani. He also expressed appreciation for Owaisi, saying, “Asaduddin Owaisi sometimes criticized the Congress government. A good opposition will help the government to work efficiently. The number of leaders to speak on behalf of the poorer sections in Parliament has reduced. Asaduddin Owaisi is one of the few who raise a voice for the poor.”
Reddy recently appealed to the Union government for urgent financial assistance for the flood-hit areas of Telangana. The state has suffered extensive damage due to heavy rains and Reddy has appealed to the central government to provide assistance without imposing strict conditions.
The CM also pointed out that the state government was struggling to allocate the Rs 1,350 crore available in NDRF Funds due to restrictive guidelines. He added: “It would not be possible to carry out even temporary repairs of the damaged roads with such meagre costs for repairs carried out by the centre.”
