Tennessee family recording baby’s first steps misses 3-year-old toddler with deadly weapon

A Tennessee family fixated on the adorable moment a baby took her first steps almost missed seeing a toddler walking around with a giant knife.

Chattanooga’s Courtney Gaylord was just trying to capture a heartwarming memory with her baby and family, but a TikTok she posted revealed the event was much more chaotic than that.

In the shocking video, Gaylord’s family coached the baby as she staggered through her very first steps.

But the video took an unexpected turn when a little boy stepped into the frame kicking a large and sharp kitchen knife.

The post’s caption humorously reads, “I mean all he really wanted was the leftover frosting, can you blame him?”

Gaylord explained the bizarre situation Newsweeksays that as a stay-at-home mother of two, she doesn’t see her Indiana family often. But they were able to get together for daughter Elliett’s first birthday.

She told the outlet, “We live five hours away from family, so when we all get together it’s always a big party.”

With the family finally together, there seemed no better time to try to get Elliett to walk from Gaylord’s cousin to her sister.

As this exciting moment unfolded, Gaylord’s cousin Brady, then three years old, walked in and stole the spotlight.

Gaylord told Newsweek: ‘He tried to get the knife so he could lick some of the frosting off the birthday cake.

“We didn’t notice.”

Brady apparently held the knife until he entered the frame of the video – when his family finally saw what he was doing.

Gaylord spoke to Newsweek about posting the video: “We shared it because we still laugh about it to this day and the fact that we had it on camera so I thought maybe other people would get a chuckle out of it too .’

TikTok’s comments section is full of viewers who find the moment absolutely hilarious.

One user wrote: ‘Omg! You may want to rethink what you use to spread the frosting! Hahaha!’

Another comment reads: ‘Hahaha at least he didn’t cut off his tongue!!! He lived his best life with the best snacks!’

Although this story could have been gruesome, Gaylord and her family laughed it off because they ended up capturing two great moments and no one was hurt.

Now, two years after the video was shot, Gaylord happily reports that Elliett is a pro-hiker and that her family is still close.
