DAMAGED Tesco shoppers fell for a fake £9.50 voucher prank which saw a sex toy added to their shopping.
Self-service customers used the dodgy QR code circulating on social media.
When the digital token was scanned, a £25 Lovehoney Frisky Rabbit vibrator flashed on the checkout screen instead of the expected discount.
Buyers then had to beg a checkout employee to void the unexpected sex aid.
One irate customer said: “I thought I had a Nice discount, but if I knew what was on that code, I would never have scanned it.”
Another who dodged the joke said: “So glad people tried the Tesco vibrator voucher thing because I would have used it and been mortified.”
And worker Kelana Kirby from Manchester revealed: “Working at Tesco I had at least ten people yesterday ask me to remove a vibrator from their store.”
The pranksters had added the vibrator’s code to a screenshot of a voucher in the Tesco app.
But when The Sun tried to use the code at a Tesco store in Oxford yesterday, it was blocked by the self-checkout. Tesco confirmed it had blocked the use of the QR code.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of a fake voucher circulating on social media.
“The code does not work and we always advise customers to exercise caution if they see such claims online.”
