The £3 Mrs Hinch-approved purchase that will banish the smell of damp dogs
EVERY dog owner knows that the cold fall and winter weather comes with a lot of walks in the rain with your furry friend.
While it’s important to make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise during the colder months, rain and dogs don’t go well together.
A woman discovered this after she realized that her entire house started to smell like ‘damp dog’ after a few drizzly walks.
The dog lover asked for some tips to get rid of the nasty smell via the popular Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips.
“It’s terrible now that the weather has turned,” she said.
Failing to wash their dog every time he returned from a walk, some pet owners had a cheap and cheerful hack.
While some suggested that reed diffusers and scented candles worked wonders, others pushed for a cheaper alternative.
“Zoflora pet spray works for me,” someone commented on the post.
The Zoflora Mountain Air Disinfectant Trigger Spray is specially designed for homes with pets, so you can goal those awful damp smells.
The best part is you can pick up a huge 800ml bottle for just £3 at most supermarkets, so it won’t break the bank either.
Better yet, it’s currently available for just £2.50 on Amazon.
“I use Zoflora spray and have no problems,” someone else commented on the post.
And a third agreed: “Me too, I use it all year round.”
If you’re still bothered by a damp dog odor, there are some other tricks you can try. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go out and spend a fortune on fancy perfumes or cleaning products.
With this hack you only have to spend 32 cents – yes, you heard that right.
another irritated dog owner took it up Mothernet to reveal that she has had enough of the stinky smell her dog leaves behind.
She said: “The dog itself doesn’t smell, she’s a greyhound so no damp/wet coat at all.
‘She takes baths often. Just 2 days ago I had a good bath with Aloe Vera dog shampoo and fragrances Nice.
“Is there anything else I can use to cover the smell without having to wash the carpet?”
Cleaning company fans were quick to respond with their simple hacks to remove such odors, with many sharing the 32 cent item that dog owners can use to stop their home smelling like a wet dog.
One woman said: “I got a tip from Good Housekeeping wires was to put vinegar around the house, in jars, to neutralize any airborne pong you might get.”
In support of this tip, another user added: “For odors in the air, give it a try bowls of white vinegar in the offending rooms.
“I use bowls and put them in the corner of the windowsills behind the curtains.
“It’s great for freshening the air without using chemical-smelling cover-ups.”
While a third user said: “I love the vinegar as a room freshener!
“I’m curious to hear what others think once they’ve tried it.”
