The Ruark MR1 MKII Were the best little Bluetooth -speakers you could buy when they launched, and they still sound great today. But almost eight years in its time for a renewal and Ruark has wisely decided to maintain the same attractive design while extensively upgrading what is in it.
The Ruark MR1 MK3 is very similar to their predecessors from both 2017 and 2013. But this time there is a better Bluetooth, improved USB audio, improved reinforcement and larger drivers too.

Although the cabinets look almost identical, apart from the new Slate Gray stabies, they have been subtly redesigned to make room for the new, 85 mm long Worp NS+ Bas/Mid drivers. Tweeters are 20 mm silk domes.
Ruark has also adjusted the class D -amplification of its R410 model to deliver more power and better control, and the cross -overs are optimized and the bass reflex is tailored to deliver what Ruark describes as “deeper, more controlled bass, a lucid middle and exceptional detail”.
The new Bluetooth module brings APTX HD and Low-Latency Audio and the new USB audio input supplies Audio with high resolution. There is also a special input for the Best turntablesWith a moving magnet -phono -stage and adjustable reinforcement.
Frequency range in the room is 50Hz to 22 kHz, which is impressive for such small speakers, and there is a subwoofer output if you need extra oomph.
The new Ruark MR1 MK3 speakers are available from today, June 5, in a choice of rich walnut or charcoal lacquer. With the pricing of $ 579 / £ 399 / AU $ 899, they look like a better value in the UK than the US – but if they sound as good as the last model, they will be a good buy in both cases.
