The Fujifilm X-E5 costs double the X-E4 at the launch for some, but I love the premium direction that enters the Ranking Fry Series

- In the US, the X-E5 costs twice the price of the X-E4 when it was launched in 2021
- X-E5 offers a number of improvements compared to its predecessor
It is fair to say that the official unveiling of the Fujifilm X-E5 Has caused some consternation in fans of the brand. Starting at $ 1,699 / £ 1,299 only body, this compact mirror -free camera is a lot more expensive than its predecessor, the Fujifilm X-E4That only $ 850 / £ 799 cost when it arrived in 2021.
I will admit that it seems to pay a substantial amount for a camera without sealing and a dated, miniscule seeker. But if someone judges cameras that day in day out, I think the Fujifilm X-e5 represents a pretty good price-quality ratio-aldhans on paper.
I still have to actually get a Fujifilm X-E5 review example in my hands (it comes, so stay up to date for an in-depth review here soon), but even from afar it is clear that this camera is more expensive than the X-E4 for very justified reasons. And Techradar’s Cameras – editor Tim Coleman has his own take after a three -day journey with the camera prior to the launch – view his X-e5 first thoughts.
Firstly, the specifications and functions offered in the new camera from Fujifilm surpass that far surpassed from the X-E4. To choose the most obvious two upgrades: the X-E5 is built around a new gene 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR RUG-LIGHT SENSOR that offers almost twice the resolution of the 26.1mp sensor of the X-E4; And it is now supplied with In-Body Five-Assensor Shift image stabilization (IBIS).
These improvements, in particular the IBIs, must result in major improvements in image detail and sharpness, especially for handheld recordings. It can now also record 6.2K video, while the X-E4 is filling 4k.
The X-E5 is also the first camera in the XE series that comes with a completely metal top plate. Machine company from a single block aluminum, I am sure this will feel the X-E5 more difficult and more luxurious than its predecessor. Yes-even if it is not technically removed-what I will admit is a bit of a disappointment, especially since Fujifilm sells the camera in a kit with a new XF23mm f/2.8 pancake lens, which is weather-resistant.
I will also say that the small viewfinder could have really used an update. Unbelievable, it actually seems to be the same 0.39-inch, 2.36 million point one as on the very first XE series camera, the Fujifilm X-E1, which was launched 13 years ago. It is functional, yes – but as a photographer who prefers to compose photos with my eye against a viewfinder instead of looking at a screen, the bigger, clearer and sharper the viewfinder, the better.
The LCD screen also seems to be a downgrade of other recent models-it is a 1.04 m-dot unit instead of the 1.84 m-dot utir geliz X-T50 And X100VI.
If we are talking about the price of the X-E5, in particular in the US, we must also recognize the impact of the rates of the Trump administration, which has led to a situation in which non-American manufacturers will of course increase prices for their products. It is no secret that the X-E5 costs $ 200 more than would be otherwise.
Even this rate confusion put aside, inflation has also been bitten hard since 2021, it is really not that surprising to see the X-E5 priced in this way.
Finally, it seems that Fujifilm is set to keep the X-E4 in its current X-series line-up, if you can find it in stock, which means that the company still gives consumers the option to collect an affordable mirrorless camera in a distance if that is what they need. Although the X-E4 is certainly not without its disadvantages, it is still a very useful interchangeable lens camera. It has now just a more advanced, better constructed brother or sister for everyone who wants it.
Don’t agree with me and still think that the X-E5 is far too expensive compared to its predecessor? Feel free to sound in the comments below – but don’t forget to come back soon for a complete and final assessment of the newest release of Fujifilm.
