The Gemini app may have quietly launched for the iPhone
The Gemini app may have been released on iOS in some regions. On Sunday, a Reddit user posted screenshots of the iOS version of the app. Also visible in the screenshots was the Gemini Live feature, which allows for a two-way conversation with the AI. The user also shared the URL of the app’s App Store listing, but several others claimed it was not available in their region. Notably, iPhone users do not currently have a Gemini app, but can instead access the chatbot through the Google app.
Gemini app on iOS
A Reddit user with the username u/lostshenanigans posted on the Bard subreddit claiming that the Gemini app for iPhone has been released. The user then also posted a few screenshots showing the app as well as the URL for the App Store listing. However, others reported that the app was not available for their location. Notably, the user lives in the Philippines.
Gadgets 360 employees also did not have access to the app, but according to the Redditor, the app list is accessible here. It appears that Google is doing a limited test run of the iOS app in Gemini. Since only one claim about the app’s presence has been found so far, there is a possibility that the report is incorrect. However, nothing can be said for sure unless Google makes an announcement about the iOS version of the Gemini app.
Notably, in the screenshots shared by the Reddit user, the Gemini Live feature was also visible, which could mean that the Mountain View-based tech giant is planning to launch the Gemini app for iPhone with this capability.
The Gemini app for Android is powered by the Gemini 1.5 Flash Large Language Model (LLM) for the free tier and the Gemini 1.5 Pro for those who opted for the paid plan. The Gemini app can hold a conversation with users, write essays, search the web, and make recommendations on a wide range of topics. Thanks to its multimodal capabilities, it can also generate images. Users also get the hands-free voice calling experience with Gemini Live.
