We now know the exact time and date of FujifilmThe next X-series camera, following another teaser shared on the Fujifilm YouTube channel (see below), and there is not long waiting for the rumors half-frame compact.
The video says ‘see you soon’, and the video caption describes an announcement of 22 May 2025 (at 1 am et / 6am BST / 3:00 PM Aest, that is May 21 at 10 pm PT).
After having followed the rumors of the supposed X half for a while, I can’t wait until next week, some curious functions leaked that have been so much fun leaked.
Chief under those rumors, and one that Fujifilm has teased itself Fuji rumors Could have a touch function, which means that you could sweep to change film simulation – neat.
But that is not even the funny function that has been rumors for the camera with half a frameThat Fujifilm invoices as the offering ‘half of the size, twice the story’. Another rumor function that struck me is one that will certainly appeal to fans of analogue photography.
Roll with it

As we have reported before, there are Suggestions that the X half will be a modern view of the half-frame formatAs can be seen in recent analog cameras such as the Pentax 17 And Kodak Ektar H35.
Half-frame traditionally refers to an analogue camera that records two vertical exposures on a single frame of 35 mm film, so that you can get the number of stills from a role twice with the ‘half size, twice the story’ slogan in the teaser.
It remains unclear how Fujifilm will reach a half-frame in the upcoming camera, but there are suggestions that the X half will contain a 1-inch sensor that will capture two vertical images as a divingtych, plus a vertical LCD back to help the user put those photos together.
We can also see a circular viewfinder in the silhouette of the camera in the Fujifilm teaser, plus a vintage design with a manual exposure button – a recipe known at Fujifilm.
It can also be a compact camera with a fixed 28 mm f/2.8 (equivalent) lens – that is one of 5 rumor functions I wrote about. However, it is another possible function that has really aroused my interest – a film role mode.
Fuji rumors suggest that with the Film roll mode The user is actively locked in the film simulation and selected settings for a certain number of photos, equal to photographing with a certain film role. Traditionally that would be 24 or 36 photos, but half a frame doubles the number of photos.
It is also possible that the user cannot see previews of the photos they take in the film roll mode until the ‘Roll’ is used up. I think the idea of such a mode sounds so great as it is crazy, and I hope it is true.
Responses to the different X half rumors suggest that there is a feeling among Fujifilm fans that the upcoming camera is one of Fujifilm’s most experimental so far. If it is well received, some of the functions could find their way to future X-series cameras.
I would be all the way for the weird and crazy – I enjoy Fujifilm cameras most when they break from the norm, such as the Solid dial’s dial on the GFX100RF. So mark your agendas before May 22 – I have already done it.
Maybe you like it too …
