The Historic Lido of the UK reopens just in time for the summer – with Olympic swimming pool, water slides and splash zone

A historic Lido has undergone a renovation of £ 130k and reopened just in time for the summer.
Banbury Open Air Pool, which is part of the Woodgreen Leisure Center in Oxfordshire, was first opened in 1939.
The swimming pool in Olympic size is the only outdoor swimming pool in Banbury and a ‘very popular’ place by locals.
Renovation work has installed new showers and toilets and made improvements in the changing rooms of the site.
The heated outdoor swimming pool of 50 meters has eight lanes and an outdoor glass and a Splash zone.
Rob Pattenden, Cherwell District Council’s Chief Communities Chief, has said that renovation work shows that the swimming pool ‘Moves a lot with the Times’.
“Swimming is such an accessible and useful form of exercise and so it is a brilliant way for us to invest in the health and well -being of our communities,” said Mr Petenden.
“With the warm weather we have, I fully expect people to get the best out of the beautiful outdoor swimming pool from Banbury, because it opens its doors for another summer.”

Renovations include a new accessible step -free shower for people with disabilities.
The Pool is extremely popular with the locals and has a 4.5 -star rating of 5 on Google Reviews.
A reviewer described it as a ‘beautiful swimming pool’ that ‘really reasonably priced’, while another said it was a ‘great place for a swimming’.
Adult tickets for Lido cost £ 5.65, while those from 50+ or between 3-15 years of swimming can swim for £ 3.70.
Elsewhere, Guildford Lido is also reopened for the summer season after a renovation of £ 2 million.
The heated swimming pool of 50 meters has installed brand new changing rooms and improved the drain systems for the 2025 season.
