The iPhone SE 4 case leak gives us hints about the design of Apple’s next affordable iPhone
The unofficial consensus seems to be that the iPhone SE4 will be announced early 2025and a newly leaked image that supposedly shows a case for the handset gives us an idea of the design choices we can expect.
This image comes from an established tipster @SonnyDicksonand taken on its own, it doesn’t seem like much will change from the iPhone SE3 launched in 2022. For example, the rear camera bump is the same size and in the same position.
The iPhone buttons are all in familiar places, too: the cutouts for the mute switch and charging port on the bottom, and the raised areas for the volume and power buttons, are all where they should be.
However, we heard it from other leaks that the iPhone SE 4 will be the first in the series to ditch Touch ID and the home button and use Face ID instead: it will apparently resemble the iPhone 14, although these rather major design changes wouldn’t come at a glance are revealed at the case.
More iPhone SE 4 rumors
Another rumored design tweak that neither confirms nor contradicts this case leak is an increase in screen size: the iPhone SE 4’s display is apparently grow to 6.1 inches from 4.7 inches and with the iconic notch at the top, giving fans of small phones one less choice.
While the case may not be hugely different from the current model – aside from size – the leak is more evidence that a refresh is on the way for this model. The iPhone SE 3 launched in March and the iPhone SE 4 could follow suit.
We heard it too the next iPhone SE may have an A18 chip (matching the one in the iPhone 16 And iPhone 16Plus), notable camera upgrades, and a 5G modem made by Apple itself (which could very well mean faster speeds on mobile networks).
Maybe even the phone support for Apple Intelligencewith 8 GB of RAM on board, enough to keep the AI functions running smoothly. Hopefully Apple can still meet the current model’s $429 / £419 / AU$719 launch price.
