'The Jat community has not...': Mayawati on the party's disappointing result in the Haryana polls
NEW DELHI: BSP supremo Mayawati on Tuesday blamed the Jat community for the party’s disappointing performance in the Haryana assembly elections.
The former UP CM said the ‘casteist’ mentality of the Jat community led to the party’s flop show despite alliance with INLD in the polls. She urged them to change their mindset and compared them with the Jat community in Uttar Pradesh, who she claimed had largely overcome their caste thinking.
“The BSP and the INLD fought the Haryana general elections together. But today’s results show that the casteist people of the Jat community did not vote for the BSP, causing the party candidates to lose in some seats by a narrow margin of votes. though the entire vote of the BSP was transferred,” Mayawati said in a post on X.

“The people of the Jat community of UP have changed their caste mentality to a large extent and they have become MLAs of the BSP and ministers in the government. The people of Jat community of Haryana should also follow their footsteps and change their casteist mentality. This is a special advice,” she added.
The BJP registered a record third consecutive victory, winning 48 seats, while the Congress won 37 and the INLD won just two seats in the Haryana Assembly elections. Three seats went to independent candidates. According to Election Commission data, the BSP received a vote share of 1.82 percent and its ally INLD 4.14 percent.
