Regarding the reason why the original Birthday Cake book of children has passed the test of time, one of the original authors, Pamela Clark, once said that she thinks it’s because the cakes were so wonderfully imperfect.

“They look rough and ready, they were rough and ready, and they are not scary at all, and I think most people, even if they have never made a cake, will try cakes,” she said.

“Children don’t care about the details of the cake, how messy it could look … they realize that this cake was made with love for them.”
