Author of The night cop Matthew Quirk also revealed that he was invited to ‘Night Agents HQ’ in late June for a sneak peek at what Season 2 has in store.

Now that production is complete, there is still post-production to be completed before The night cop season 2 is finally coming to Netflix. So, when it comes to an official release date, Netflix confirmed on X that the new episodes will be out in 2024. Since we are heading towards the latter part of the year, let’s call it late 2024.
The Night Agent Season 2 Trailer
For now, Matthew Quirk is one of the few people who has gotten a taste of The night cop season 2 and no trailer has been released yet. We will update here when it is.
The cast of season 2 of The Night Agent
When it comes to returning cast members of The night cop Season 2, both Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan have been confirmed to reprise their roles as Peter Sutherland and Rose Larkin, respectively. There is no further news from Netflix on who else will be returning, although the death toll from Season 1 tells us who won’t be there.
We’d speculate that Chief of Staff Diane Farr and Gordon Wick could return, but we’ll get into that in the plot section below. We could also see former VP, Ashley Redfield, his daughter, Maddie, and Chelsea Arrington in Season 2, considering where Season 1 left us.
There’s plenty to talk about with the new cast members, though, and the list below is a good way to discuss them. The night cop season 2 is abundant, as confirmed by Netflix:
- Brittany Snow as Alice
- Teddy Sears as Warren
- Amanda Warren as Catherine
- Arienne Mandi as Noor
- Louis Herthum as Jacob Monroe
- Navid Negahban as Abbas
- Berto Colon as Solomon
- Michael Malarkey as Markus
- Rob Heaps as Tomas
- Keon Alexander as Javad
Brittany Snow joins as Alice, Peter’s partner and mentor for his first Night Action assignment; Teddy Sears as Warren, a high-ranking intelligence officer who becomes the subject of a Night Action investigation; Navig Negahban as Abbas, the “prominent and moderate” Iranian ambassador to the UN; and Rob Heaps as Tomas, a “British-educated, wealthy, privileged but driven man” desperate to restore his family to power after his dictatorial father is convicted of war crimes.
Amanda Warren joins as Catherine, a veteran of the Night Action program who trains and oversees the Night Agents. As described by Netflixshe is “a fierce defender of her agents, but finds it difficult to gain Peter’s trust as he grapples with betrayal issues from his experiences in Season 1.”
Jacob, an international businessman with powerful global connections. Solomon, a former Marine turned right-hand man/fixer for a powerful corporation. Markus, a trained military leader loyal to his dictator uncle who was recently convicted of war crimes in The Hague.
Noor is a low-level assistant in the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York who wants to use her access to top secret information to give herself and her family a better life. And Javad, the head of security at the Iranian mission where Noor is.
With all these new characters joining The night cop season 2, we can speculate about where the story is going in the plot section below.
The Night Agent season 2 plot
Spoilers ahead The night cop season 1 to follow. Peter really made a name for himself in Season 1, securing his first mission as an official Night Action agent that led to Season 2. Well, unofficially, since the Night Action program is “off the books.” After uncovering a massive conspiracy within the Oval Office and ultimately saving the life of President Michelle Travers, it’s no surprise that his efforts are rewarded.
Unlike season 1, however, there is no book by author Matthew Quirk to follow. So, where will it go? Viewers watched Rose Larkin and Peter’s romance blossom throughout season 1, and now they face a new challenge as Peter takes on a dangerous new job. There’s certainly more to discover about how they handle this.
Showrunner Shawn Ryan confirmed Tudum“That’s one of the big questions we’d love to answer in Season 2. What does it mean for Peter to get on this plane and go somewhere (probably overseas to go on another wild adventure, with Rose going back to California to chase her Silicon Valley dreams again? We have some initial ideas, at least.”
We also know that while Peter was successful in uncovering the conspiracy, he was unable to prevent a few villains from Season 1 from escaping. Both Diane Farr, the President’s Chief of Staff, survived a gunshot wound in the series finale, and Gordon Wick managed to escape as the dust settled.
Ryan added: “We liked the idea that this wasn’t so clean. That there’s one person who, because of his resources and everything, is able to slip away. Maybe we’ll deal with him again somehow.” He’ll definitely have a feud with Peter and a bankroll that allows him to commit treacherous acts.
And when it comes to Farr’s future, Gabriel Basso told Tudum: “Because he believes in a fair trial, he won’t be disappointed that she’s still alive.” He added: “But if Farr escapes justice, he’ll be a little more careful with Travers. Peter doesn’t think it’s okay to be a traitor and not receive justice.”
From the new cast members joining Season 2 of The Night Agent, we’ve also gotten hints at what the first Night Action mission could entail, featuring a new powerful businessman and his Marine-turned-fixer, a convicted war crimes dictator with a son and nephew both out for revenge, an Iranian mission, and a new Night Agent partner for Peter.
Shawn Ryan also told Term that when it comes to The Night Agent, each season will have its own story to tell, “…the original pitch for this show that we sold to Netflix was that each season would tell its own, largely self-contained, beginning, middle, and end story, and that future seasons would feature some but not most of the characters we saw in the previous season.”
The official plot for The Night Agent season 2 remains under wraps, but as soon as we know more, we’ll update it here.
Where can you watch The Night Agent?
All ten episodes of The night cop Season 1 is available to stream on Netflix. While you wait for Season 2, there are seven more spy series to watch, including The night cop to add to your watchlist, and the best Netflix series.
Will The Night Agent get a third season?
We’d be surprised if Netflix didn’t renew The night cop for a third season, given its previous quick renewal and continued success on the streaming platform. There are certainly positive signs that the show will be back for more. In June, Term revealed that showrunner Shawn Ryan has signed a four-year contract with Netflix, which will begin in October, when his current contract with Sony expires.
Now that production on Season 2 has already wrapped, there is still plenty of room for more work. The night copAnd the report continues: “Now that Ryan’s deal is done, I hear Netflix is moving forward with opening a writers room for Season 3 The night cop.” Although these are still just rumors, it is all a good indication of Peter’s return.
With such an impressive deal in place, it also hints at The night cop expand into a franchise, with Deadline delving further into rumors of potential spinoffs of the action film.
