The only person for the job! Jill Biden still backs Joe after disastrous debate – as his own supporters call for the 81-year-old to step aside in protest
Joe Biden has faced protests from his own supporters during a fundraiser to end his re-election campaign.
But his wife Jill insisted he was ‘the only suitable candidate’ despite the aftermath of his disastrous TV debate.
As the president arrived in The Hamptons in New York, he drove past signs held by wealthy Democrats that read, “We love you but it’s time.”
Other statements included: ‘Please Drop out for US’, ‘Resign for democracy’ and ‘Thank you, next’ – a reference to Ariana Grande’s hit.
Mr Biden, 81, the oldest US president in history, slurred his words and gave incoherent answers during Thursday night’s election debate with Donald Trump.

Biden faced protests from his own supporters at a fundraising rally to end his re-election campaign.
It was seen as such a disaster that Democrats openly called for Biden’s replacement as the party’s candidate in November.
He tried to quell fears among supporters at the fundraiser, organized by billionaire Barry Rosenstein and attended by actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.
He said, ‘It wasn’t my best debate ever… I get it. But I’m going to fight harder.’
Top Democrats have tried to talk to Mrs. Biden, believing she is the best person to convince her husband to drop out.
But after arriving in The Hamptons on Air Force One, the First Lady stood by the president.
She told donors: “Joe is not just the right person for the job – he is the only person for the job.”
Biden was at Camp David with his family yesterday, where they had their picture taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. But the meeting, which was organized before the debate, has now taken on new urgency and significance.
Democrats have been conducting polls to understand the impact of the debate and whether it would affect ballot candidates. An adviser to Biden said the only way he would quit is if the data showed he couldn’t beat Trump.
