The real reason Tommy cheated on Molly goes to Love Island, says psychologist
The cheating allegations against Tommy Fury may have come as a surprise to fans, but his reckless betrayal had been in the air for some time, a psychologist says.
There are in fact “deep-seated reasons” why the 25-year-old reportedly committed the ultimate breach of trust with Molly-Mae Hague, also 25, dating back to the time the pair met.
Picture this scene: it’s 2019 and the brother of boxing legend Tyson Fury is dating attractive influencer Molly-Mae in the fifth season of ITV’s biggest dating show.
What the British public didn’t see weeks earlier was the Gypsy King trying to persuade his brother not to take part in the show, fearing he would “try too hard to be a reality star on TV”.
The Fury family, led by father John, are travelers who live a traditional life and pride themselves on having ‘fighting men’ in their ranks.
This is not a photo of them appearing together on a dating show.

Tyson admitted on The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan in 2019 that he was worried his appearance on Love Island would “ruin” Tommy’s boxing career.
According to psychologist Jo Hemmings, the disapproving look from his brother, the heavyweight champion, may have fueled feelings of inferiority in Tommy.
“He may have felt inadequate compared to Tyson, who is 11 years his senior and was clearly unimpressed when he entered the villa,” she exclusively tells Fabulous.
“Maybe he just never felt good enough.
“Feeling like you belong can lead men to behave recklessly.”
An ‘also-ran’ is someone who enters a competition and is unlikely to do well or has failed. Jo thinks Tommy has suffered from this for much of his adult life.
Sports critics have long accused the professional boxer of profiting from Tyson’s success and questioned his contributions to the boxing world, especially after his performances on Love Island.
According to Jo, this has probably damaged his ego and the way he sees himself.
Social media is teeming with the same feelings.
Cultural critics and broadcasters have suggested that John Fury’s youngest son likely has a “fragile ego” after “spending his life in Tyson’s shadow”.
Some believe these feelings inspired him to cheat on Molly-Mae, hoping it would make him feel like “The Man once and for all.”
Last week it was reported that a devastated Molly-Mae had dumped Tommy after discovering he had cheated.
He is accused of kissing a Danish woman in a nightclub during a 2am vodka party in North Macedonia, but sources close to the couple fear this was not his first cheating rodeo.
The Sun on Sunday reported that Molly-Mae broke up with him an hour after he landed back in the UK after she was “sent a disturbing video”.
Tommy may feel that his masculinity is being compromised by Molly-Mae’s massive success… He didn’t have the emotional maturity to deal with what he saw as a threat to his masculinity.

She also evicted the professional boxer from their £4million Cheshire mansion, which they shared with their daughter Bambi.
“We know that he is a risk taker by profession,” says Jo.
“This may have degenerated into sensationalism through cheating, which may have inflated his ego.
“He may even have felt inadequate because of Molly-Mae’s success, which seems to have come easier for her than for him.”
On paper, Molly-Mae’s businesses are worth FOUR times more than Tommy’s, and she’s made a fortune since her breakthrough on Love Island in 2019.
Her three companies – MMH Group Holdings Ltd, MMH International Ltd and Filter (By Molly-Mae) Ltd – have combined reserves of £1,720,506.
Meanwhile, the boxer’s two main companies – Fury TNT and Tommy Fury TNT Ltd – have a net worth of £415,203.
“It’s a pattern of not feeling good enough,” says psychologist Jo.
Molly-Mae was a sweet young girl when Tommy met her, and he was the big boxer. Her increased strength and maturity seem to have threatened his position in the relationship
Jo Hemmings
“At heart, Tommy is a true traditionalist.
“He thinks he should be the breadwinner and may feel his masculinity is being compromised by Molly-Mae’s massive success.
“She was a sweet young girl when he met her, and he was a great boxer.
“Her increased strength and maturity appear to have threatened his position in the relationship and he did not have the emotional maturity to deal with what he saw as a threat to his masculinity.”
He could simply vent his frustrations by having further affairs, living recklessly or channeling his frustrations into his boxing career.
Jo Hemmings
Jo is convinced that Tommy failed to fulfill his need for recognition by cheating.
She suspects he would continue to feel guilty no matter how many times he betrayed Molly-Mae.
A source close to the couple told The Sun that Tommy had cheated on his long-term girlfriend “a number of times” during their relationship.
“Tommy would have felt a flood of emotions – guilt, shame, probably remorse,” Jo analyses.
“He may decide that he wants forgiveness, wants to see a psychologist, or wants to reflect on why he behaved that way.
“Or he could simply vent his frustrations by having further affairs, living recklessly or channeling his frustrations into his boxing.”
