Racegoers were treated to a teaser of the film as Pitt filmed a scene as the 60-year-old and the film crew shot in front of a real F1 backdrop.

APX GP, the fictional racing team of Pitt’s character Sonny Hayes, even released a fake statement, generating interest in the upcoming release.

“During qualifying, Sonny suffered a significant impact that required immediate medical evaluation,” the statement said.

“Incidents of this magnitude are always taken seriously and Sonny’s health remains our top priority.

“Although Sonny is otherwise stable, he will not compete in tomorrow’s face as he focuses on recovery.

“The whole team is behind him and we will provide updates as they become available. Joshua will race solo tomorrow and help the team move forward.”

The actor and producer were dressed in full riding gear and were photographed staggering as they left the scene of a racing accident.

Pitt stars as a retired driver who returns to Formula 1 with APXGP, a fictional team on the grid, returning to mentor and team with a younger driver, according to a synopsis of the film.

He and Damson Idris, who plays his teammate Joshua Pearce, ‘compete against the titans of the sport.

The anticipated feature film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also helmed Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise – and will premiere in theaters next year in June 2025.

The film was made in collaboration with Formula 1 and the F1 community. All ten F1 teams and their drivers, the FIA ​​and race promoters contributed to the authenticity of the story.

The F1 package was purchased by Apple for $130 to $140 million – a price that does not include the salaries of the lead actors, director, writer and producers, Deadline reported.

The film was shot at various F1 races around the world in recent years and also stars Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo.
