The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is tipped to get a ‘squircle’ design – and if this is the case, you can register me for this

Samsung has now set a date for his next unpacked showcase, that is Wednesday 9 July. In addition to some new folding phones, we also expect the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 – And in the run -up to the big day there have been some intriguing leaks around the design of the smartwatch.
This will of course be the sequel to that of last year Samsung Galaxy Watch 7And it also seems that we have one Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Even after the original was launched next to the Galaxy Watch 7 in July 2024 (or maybe just a new color – the rumors are not yet clear).
It also seems probably now that we will now get a Galaxy Watch 8 classic, following the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic That debuted in 2023. Although the names may not match, it seems like this watch and the Standard Watch 8 will have some ultra elements to the design – including a general form and aesthetics that can divide the opinion among users.
Here comes the Squircle, again
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra broke with the tradition in terms of design, the first of Samsung that did not use a perfect round housing.
It actually tries to merge both a circle and a square – with “squircle” the most used technical term – so it’s part Pixel watch and part Apple Watch From appearance.
Now it seems likely that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic will follow the example and be squircle-oied. This comes from renders leaked by well -known Tipster @evleaks (Via Sammobile), Show the squirc on these two models and the change of the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Of course nothing is certain until Samsung makes it for sure, but when it comes to rumors and predictions in the industry, there are not many people with a better record than @evleaks aka Evan Blass. His leaks are usually accurate and on time, so much so that it would be a surprise if these were not the official designs of the coming smartwatches.
And if we needed more convincingly that this redesign really happens, an early edition of the Galaxy Watch 8 came to eBay. Although the stated portable was not really functional, it had the distinctive squircle design.
More proof of a Squircle takeover comes from images hidden in the One onion 8 update for watches, as spotted by the Android Authority team. There is no doubt that these Squircle images are available in the software, even if they are not yet visible, so we are even more secure about what comes with the Galaxy Watch 8 design.
Yikes! Someone is already selling a Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic on eBay 😅https: //t.co/2aheewo8rj pic.twitter.com/vkprsn0sjeJune 9, 2025
And we have also seen the new look for these watches in the latest update of the Samsung Health app, as spotted by 9to5Google. It is a simplified, cartoon -like representation of the design, but you can certainly see the squirc.
Put all that together, and we have a very good idea of what the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will look on the big unveiling of Samsung.
In addition to the renewed appearance, there has also been spoken rotary bezel for the classic model, a light Batterand (of course) Improved AI Smarts.

The Squircle approach will probably distribute the opinion, but it is very much a subjective call and I am completely on board with the new look. Some people call it a weak compromise that there is neither there nor there, but there is another way to look at it: the best of both worlds.
I don’t really prefer square smartwatches or circular smartwatches: both can look good and both can look rather ugly. What I like in a smartwatch is a certain amount of handling, and that is what Samsung delivers with the squircle -look – it is a portable that you know is there, which helps to look at the display and operate the device.
For me, many watches – including the Apple Watch series 10 and the Pixel Watch 3 -can look a bit thin and toy -like. There are many happy customers for both wearables of course, but I prefer to wear something that is a bit more substantial.
Maybe that’s why I tend to go to the Best Garmins When it comes to choosing smartwatches in the past. It is still to be seen whether one of Samsung’s 2025 smartwatches will convince me to upgrade – the price points will be crucial, as usual – but as far as the appearance goes, register me.
Maybe you like it too
