The ‘table top’ pose Liz Hurley and Amanda Holden use to show off sexy has no age limit
There are all kinds of things celebrities can do that us normal people can’t, like chartering private jets, staying in five-star luxury hotels and splurging at Selfridges.
But another, more bizarre choice that some have latched onto is hoisting themselves onto a table for an Insta-worthy photo — and no one bats an eyelid when they do it.
The ‘sensual’ tabletop pose has become a favorite among female celebrities, especially those in their 40s and older.
Why? Because it allows them to “enjoy their own sensuality and feel empowered by it,” says body language expert Judi James.
During several campaign shoots for her supplement brand Lemme, 45-year-old Kourtney Kardashian stretched out on tables.
Amanda Holden, 53, also likes to strike the same pose before joining Heart Radio.
In fact, it’s her favorite thing to do when posting videos from the office in central London, where she uses it as an opportunity to promote clothes from her Lipsy collection.
Model Elizabeth Hurley, 59, also likes to lounge on tables for some good vibes.
We’ve seen her “table top” in a number of photo shoots.
Her love of the pose dates back to 2010, with a raunchy photo shoot for her eponymous swimwear line that saw her crawling across the metal countertop in a professional kitchen.
More recently, she adapted the pose to her sauna sessions – and it’s attracting massive attention on social media.
“These tabletop poses are ideal for celebrities in their 40s and even 50s,” Judi tells Fabulous.
“It helps them feel confident and in control of their branding.
“They take charge of their own femininity, without resorting to cheap, thirsty attitudes.”
Judi thinks there are subliminal sexual messages in the pose – with every celebrity adopting it, proving you can be sexy no matter your age.
“Lying on a table to pose can be uncomfortable, but it ties into some classic sexual fantasies,” she explains.
Other poses that celebrities love
“There’s always that scene in movies where the couple throws all the plates and food on the floor to have sex on the kitchen table.
“It’s a touch of naughty, urgent, spontaneous ‘can’t wait’ sexual fun and even though these celebrities are posing alone, the hint is still there.”
Particularly in the case of model Elizabeth, female celebrities who hoist themselves onto the counter for a photo ensure they get a good shot without overdoing it, says Judi.
“It allows them to create ‘cat-stretch’ poses that imply enjoying their own sensuality and feeling empowered by it,” she adds.
“It’s more natural than straining the camera too much to make a sexual pitch to the fans and audience.
“As for the question, ‘Do you think I’m sexy?’, these confident, statement poses show women who don’t ask, they tell.”
