The vaccine need of Citigroup means that a stream of employees has to be vaccinated.

Citigroup’s unvaccinated employees in the United States have rushed to get shots — or apply for waivers — just before the coronavirus vaccination requirement goes into effect.

The bank achieved 99 percent of its mandate compliance before Friday’s deadline, Sara Wechter, the bank’s chief human resources officer, wrote on LinkedIn on Thursday. That was more than 90 percent on Jan. 7, according to a person familiar with the policy who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss human resources.

The figures did not include branch employees who were given more time to comply, employees who received medical or religious adjustments, and those living in states that don’t allow vaccine mandates.

“As we enter the final day, we expect the number of unpaid workers to decline even further,” wrote Ms Wechter.
