The Xbox and Game Pass apps will soon be merged into a single mobile app
Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it plans to bring all of the features of the Xbox Game Pass mobile app to the standalone Xbox app in the near future. Beta testers will be able to try out the updated Xbox app this week.
That means Game Pass subscribers can manage their memberships and browse the Game Pass library in the Xbox app. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can also redeem benefits in the updated app. Ultimate subscribers will still need to use a mobile browser to play certain games via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
You can still use all the features of the Xbox app, like chatting with friends and remotely installing games to your device.

There’s no firm date yet for when the Xbox app will gain Game Pass app features and become Voltron-like, but Microsoft has reported online that the Game Pass app will no longer be available for new downloads starting in November.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.
This marks another shift for Xbox this year. Microsoft rolled out its Game Pass Standard subscription a few weeks ago after announcing it would be discontinuing its Game Pass Console subscription in July. Microsoft also announced in July that it would be raising the price of Game Pass Ultimate from $17 to $20 per month.
Microsoft also announced a bunch of new games coming to Game Pass on Day 1 release, meaning you’ll be able to play them for free on the day they go on sale, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Gears of War: E-Day.
