But this also brings flies and insects into your home.

However, there is a cheap trick from one mother who claims that this can be prevented.

She went to the TikTok page @tsagana24 to share her trick, which has since gone viral.

The mother, who had learned the trick from her grandmother, said, “This helped me, and it will help you too.”

She started by grabbing some plastic bags, which she normally uses to store her sandwiches and food, and filled them with tap water.

The mother then took some aluminum foil, squeezed it into small balls and put them in the bag. She then tied the bag shut.

Then she took some tape, pulled out a long piece and tied a small piece around the bag. With the other end she tied it around the curtain rail, where the windows are.

The mother then dangles it between her curtains, claiming that “flies fear this like fire.”

She also places other bags around the house, such as the kitchen cabinet doorknobs and the curtain rod in the bathroom.

The video has since gone viral with over 106,000 likes and over 19,000 shares.

To which the mother replied, “I don’t know why flies respond to it, but it works.”

Someone else asked: “Does this work outside too?”

And the mother responded by writing, “I think so. Why not? There’s more sun out and there will be more reflection.”

Keep pests out all summer long

IF you want to ensure your home is pest-free this summer, here’s what you need to know.

Hornets and wasps – hate the smell of peppermint oil. Spray it liberally on your patio or balcony to keep them at bay.

Moths – Acidic household vinegar is effective in repelling moths. Soak some paper towels in vinegar and leave them in your wardrobe as a deterrent.

Flying ants – Herbs and spices such as cinnamon, mint, chili pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves or garlic have a deterrent effect.

Mosquitoes – plants, herbs and essential oil scents can help repel mosquitoes from inside and out. Try eucalyptus, lavender and lemongrass.
