This Apple Watch Series 10 case costs more than an Ultra – and makes it look like a luxury chronograph
You’ve got to love a company that looks at one of Apple’s best-selling wearables and says, “You’ve got the design wrong.” And that’s what luxury casemaker Golden Concept appears to be saying with its new Crown Sport case, which costs more than an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and also completely changes Apple’s design.
The new Crown Sport case was designed for the Apple Watch Series 10 and is designed for “the elegant, active individual who embraces sophistication in every adventure.” That’s me! But it also costs $899, which means it’s not me. But if you can afford to drop Apple Watch Ultra money on a case for your Apple Watch Series 10, there’s a lot to like here.
Golden Concept takes the crown (and moves it)
The most obvious thing you can see in this case is that there is no Digital Crown; instead, there is a centered crown with buttons above and below it. That’s because Golden Concept wanted a layout that is more in line with most luxury mechanical watches, so it came up with a clever way to effectively move the digital crown and have a central one instead.
The case itself has a hinged bezel hatch for screw-less installation and comes with either a fluoroelastomer strap (the Crown Sport) or, later this year, a stainless steel bracelet (the Crown Classic). The Sport version has a classic butterfly clasp and comes in two color options, rose gold and silver. Both have an MSRP of $899 (so around £686 or AU$1,347 as an estimate) and are strictly limited editions: only 999 Crown Sports will be made and sold worldwide, so if you get one, you’ll be in a pretty exclusive club.
I am very fascinated by Golden Concept because I love it very much. not the target audience: In addition to the luxury watch cases, the company also makes some rather unusual iPhone models, often with precious metals and sometimes even studded with diamonds. If you like that, keep your eyes peeled for the next version of Golden Concept’s Billionaires’ Gadgets collection – which delivered platinum-plated iPhone, AirPods Max, and Apple Watch Ultra cases with a combined total of 7,586 diamonds for just $250,000. I’ll take two…
