This is the cheapest universal security camera I’ve ever seen on sale for Black Friday
When I tested the Blink Mini 2, I came up with two ideas. First of all, it’s amazing how much a little camera can do, packing every possible feature into a model that’s easy to hold. Second, the Blink app is one of my favorite home security apps for quick setup and viewing, making the job easier than almost any other.
The only problem with the Blink Mini 2 was that it was more expensive than the first generation, making it a little harder to recommend as a budget model. But with the current Black Friday sale, Amazon has reduced this camera to just $20, making it the most affordable security camera I’ve ever seen – and the perfect time to buy.

What makes the Blink Mini 2 special?
In addition to the super easy-to-use Blink app, I found that the Blink Mini 2 fits almost anywhere, which is great for those with limited space or who want a camera that doesn’t stand out. It’s wired, so you’ll need an outlet nearby, but that’s the only limitation. You can even add a swivel mount to let you pan and tilt it.
It’s also amazing what the Blink Mini 2 can do. Inside the HD camera is motion detection with app alerts, two-way audio, a siren, a small spotlight and night vision. If you have the extra cheap Blink Video Doorbell, it can even function as a doorbell. And since it’s an Amazon brand, you can rest assured that it will work with Alexa and all Echo devices, but not other home assistants.
Can I use the Blink Mini 2 outside?
You can mount the Blink Mini 2 outside, but you will need an extra outer cable for this. The cable is the only part that isn’t weatherproof, so will need an upgrade – and a power socket nearby, which may require some electrical work.
Luckily, the outdoor cable bundle is also incredibly affordable, costing just $30 for the complete package. Keep in mind that because the Blink Mini 2 is so small it doesn’t have the same range as some outdoor cameras, but it’s great for an entryway or small patio.
Do I need a subscription for the Blink Mini 2?
It’s not required, but it adds more features. Blink’s plan, which starts at $3 per month, adds cloud video storage, but you can also choose to have a Blink Sync Module 2 ($50) and a USB stick for local storage. Otherwise you only get live camera images.
The subscription also adds object recognition, such as telling apart people, packages and animals. And it extends how long you can watch the live view, up to 90 minutes. If you really like these extra features – and they might come in handy – consider getting the bundle that includes a full year of the premium Blink Plus plan and camera for $100.
Will the Blink Mini 2 go on sale for Black Friday?
Yes. Amazon has started its Black Friday deals early, so you can now get the camera at 50% off, down to just $20. The outdoor cable bundle is also down to $30. Although Amazon likely has plenty of stock for Black Friday/ Cyber Monday, we don’t know how long the stock will last, so if you’re interested, we recommend you add it to your cart as soon as possible.
