This is what the Google Pixel 9 series’ new weather app could look like
The Google Pixel 9 series is launching next week during the Made by Google event and according to a new report, they may come with a new weather app. This new weather app is said to be specifically designed for the upcoming series, which is rumored to consist of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It is unclear if the new app will replace the existing weather section in the Google app or will be available alongside it.
Google Pixel 9 series reportedly getting a new weather app
According to a report According to Android Authority, the new weather app for the Google Pixel 9 series is a redesigned version of the weather section in the Google app. The publication claimed to have obtained access to the app from anonymous sources. The report shared a few screenshots of the app and stressed that this might not be the final build and is an unfinished version, though all the features are said to be working.
The biggest change in the new weather app is said to be a minimalist design language. The frog and background images in the original weather section have been replaced with a simple solid colored gradient background that is said to match the weather conditions of the selected location.
The way the information is displayed has also changed, based on the screenshot. The temperature is the largest element and is placed in the center. Instead of a degree symbol next to the number, there is an icon that shows the weather conditions and whether it is day or night. Below that is the feeling of temperature and the highest and lowest point of the day.
According to the report, the weather information cards, such as 10-day forecasts, humidity, sunrise and sunset, wind, AQI, visibility, UV index, and pressure, could all be repositioned by long-pressing on them. The only exception would be the hourly weather update card, which was permanently placed directly below the main temperature display.
The wind, pressure, AQI, visibility and other maps were also redesigned and now appeared in unique shapes for each element as opposed to the rectangular maps in the current weather section of the Google app. More colors were also used for each map. Furthermore, the report claimed that there was no animation used in the app, another change from the existing option.
It’s unclear whether the app will also roll out to older Pixel phones and eventually other Android phones, or whether it will remain exclusive to the Pixel 9 series. Gadgets 360 was unable to confirm the existence of the app, and since Google has not announced anything either, we’d advise taking this information with a grain of salt until the devices and their features are officially announced on August 13.
