This is what the world’s largest LED video wall looks like: Adele’s extravagant 44,000-square-foot display is heading straight into the Guinness World Records book
Adele has set a new goal Guinness World Record with the largest continuous outdoor LED screen.
The temporary screen, which was used during her now-completed “Adele in Munich” concert series and was inspected on August 23, 2024, measured a whopping 44,774.6 square feet (4,159.7 square meters). It was a prominent feature of her residency at the Messe München in Germany.
This enormous screen stands alongside other iconic large screens, including the Las Vegas Sphere, which features 1.2 million LEDs and a resolution of 16x16K, and the 100-metre projection screen at the Gasometer Museum in Oberhausen.
Pushing boundaries
The LED screen at Adele’s show was designed in collaboration with Solotech, a Canadian company that provides AV and entertainment technology services. It had a unique wavy shape, resembling an unfolded scroll.
During the concerts, custom visuals specific to each song were played on the screen, enhancing the audience experience. The residency ran from August 2 to August 31, 2024, in an 80,000-seat outdoor arena. After the final show, the screen was dismantled, with Solotech planning to reuse parts of it for future installations and live events.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Joanne Brent commented: “I was curious to see how such an expansive and seamless screen would be used during the concert. The bespoke visual effects, tailored to each song, really elevated the performance and added an undeniable ‘wow’ factor.”
“This Munich residency is unlike anything we’ve ever done before,” said Ian Woodall, Solotech’s director of worldwide touring and special projects.
“There was no template, no comparison – only possibilities. What makes this show groundbreaking is not just the scale of the record-breaking LED screen, but the innovative thinking that made it possible. This production redefines how live entertainment can be experienced. By working with Adele’s visionary team and all the other top suppliers, we were able to push the boundaries of what anyone thought was possible. It is this spirit of collaboration and innovation that made the Guinness World Records for the largest outdoor LED screen achievable.”
