REBECCA-MAREE, 31

Single, no children, stand-up comedian.

Dating past?

I'm unlucky in love. I tend to go for troubled men who are wrong for me but I want to fix. I've often dated “the funny guy” or the trader type, and while I've had a few long-term relationships, it never seems to work out.

Pre-date nerves?

Maybe it's because of my work, but I don't really suffer from nerves. I see this as having fun and if it doesn't work out, it doesn't matter.

Stand-up comedian Rebecca-Maree, 31, is single with no children and wants to meet someone who is fun, confident and low-maintenance

First impression?

Bishu was smartly dressed in a pink top and trousers and the smile on his face immediately made me think, 'Oh, we're going to have fun.' He said hello, we had a quick hug and he seemed genuine. We were laughing within the first minute, so I was reassured that we would continue.

Easy to talk to?

For me he lacked charisma – I need a more exciting man

He took the lead, asked me a lot of questions and seemed interested in my life. We talked about our travels to places like Australia, about work and music. But we didn't have much in common.

For example, he loves traveling, but I'm not nearly as passionate about it.

He likes techno music, while I like pop-rock more.

But honestly, it didn't matter. He told me some fascinating things about himself; for example, he was blessed in the womb by Mother Teresa!

The conversation was varied and we continued talking for about three hours.

Embarrassing moments?

I was shocked when the waiter set fire to our dessert with a mini blowtorch, but we both laughed about it.

Did sparks fly?

Unfortunately not. I liked him a lot, but I could only see him as a friend. I thought he lacked charisma, if that doesn't sound too bad. I want a man with a little more excitement about him.

Will you see him again?

I would love to have a cup of coffee or chat with him again. He says he's going to one of my comedy shows, so if nothing else, I have a new fan!

What do you think he thought of you?

I think he would say the same thing I did: that we had fun and hopefully he enjoyed the date.

Would your family like him?

My father would love him. He'd say, “You've found someone with a real profession!” instead of the bad boys I usually date.

BISHU, 29

Single, no children.

Dating past?

I was in a relationship for three and a half years in college, but it ended when I moved abroad to study. Now, due to work and the pandemic, I haven't really had a chance to find anyone else, so I've been single for about five years.

Pre-date nerves?

Not at all. I knew what to expect, because I've had a few blind dates through a company that arranges them for young people. Mind you, those weren't very good – none turned into a second date.

First impression?

Rebecca stood up from her seat and we smiled, hugged and exchanged pleasantries. I don't have a 'type', but she had a beautiful smile, her hair looked nice and she wore a beautiful dress. We laughed early on, so my first thought was that we would get along great.

Easy to talk to?

She talks about her dates on her comedy show… Uh oh!

We had a nice date and talked the whole time. I loved that Rebecca is a comedian and quizzed her about the jokes she told. She said at one point that she talked about relationships a lot and I was like, “Uh-oh.” But she assured me she wouldn't talk about me!

It was nice that we both like the same kind of comedy: Seth Rogen and Will Ferrell.

However, I think we have different priorities at the moment: I like to travel whenever I can, while she likes to stay in Britain. Our ideas about a good weekend were also different. I like dancing and raves, while she prefers going for walks in the park. But we got along well.

Embarrassing moments?

Not at all.

Did sparks fly?

Not for me. She is a very nice person and I can see her becoming a friend, but there was no chemistry between couples. She's attractive, there just wasn't a romantic vibe for me.

Will you see her again?

Yes, we traded Instagram handles and I said I'm going to one of her London comedy shows.

What do you think she thought of you?

I imagine she feels the same way I do: that we had a lot to talk about, but could only be friends.

Would your family like her?

I think so. Her heart is in a good place. She says she's like an aunt to her friends, so I think my family would think she's nice.
