Threads may soon get an Instagram Reel sharing option
Threads launched a year ago as Meta’s direct microblogging rival to Elon Musk’s X (formerly known as Twitter). As the platform continues to grow, Meta plans to add a range of new features to the app. The social media giant appears to be working on a new feature that will allow users to post Instagram Reels directly to Threads. The new feature could be part of Meta’s plan to enable cross-posting functionality to maximize content sharing between its suite of apps.
Discussions may soon have a cross-posting feature
Well-known developer Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) claimed that Threads is testing a new feature that will allow users to share Instagram Reels and posts directly to Threads. According to the screenshot Paluzzi shared, the drop-down menu on Threads contains a new one Instagram option along with the existing GIF, Voice and Poll.
Tapping the new Instagram button in the compose box in Threads will reveal a grid of Instagram posts and reels. Users can then choose which roles and posts they want to share on Threads. Meta allegedly confirmed told TechCrunch that it is indeed testing the feature.
Currently, many users post their Instagram posts and Reels to Threads to increase engagement with their content and grow their followers. The arrival of the new button is expected to help users increase user engagement and improve content visibility.
Notably, Meta has been working since last year to promote crossposting from Facebook and Instagram to Threads. It already automatically shows Thread posts on Instagram and Facebook. A test is underway that will allow users to post images from Instagram to Threads
Meta has added new features to its fast-growing Threads platform. Recently, the company was spotted testing a temporary messaging feature that allows users to publish messages that disappear after a certain period of time.
