Three-bedroom family home on sale for £65,000 is covered in bird poo after animals move into the dilapidated property

  • The three-bedroom semi-detached house in Blackpool looks like a snipe from the outside
  • However, the next owners will have to chase away a flock of resident pigeons
  • In addition to tackling the thick layers of bird droppings, work is also needed elsewhere

With the cost of living soaring, moving in with strangers is becoming an increasingly common choice, but one family could be getting their most unique home share yet.

A three-bedroom family home in Blackpool has hit the market for £65,000, but in addition to an already extensive DIY job, its next owners will have to start their lives chasing away a flock of local pigeons.

The affordable purchase includes three bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and a dining room.

Photos of the semi-detached property show the interior – much of which consists of rubbish that needs to be thrown away – is covered in a thick layer of bird droppings.

Some images reveal the source of this unpleasant decor: a handful of pigeons perched on cupboards, a wardrobe and even some wallpaper peeling from the wall.

The interior of the house has been completely destroyed by a combination of rubbish left by previous owners and pigeon squatters who have saturated the house with their droppings.

The cheeky birds’ attitude towards being photographed does not bode well for whatever family comes to live in the house, as they appear to have no fascination with whoever has previously set foot on them.

This is a shame because from the outside the property looks like a traditional semi-detached family home with a hedge to the front providing extra privacy from the road.

Along the kitchen surfaces and countertops, in the bedrooms, the living room and the bathroom, there is mold, dirt and especially feces.

This includes a remarkable amount in the bathtub – with the pigeons putting a new twist on the traditional birdbath.

There’s also a hole in the living room ceiling – perhaps a small price to pay for a relatively feces-free zone.

And the work doesn’t stop there. The large backyard is an overgrown mess, with a photo showing signs of even more trash lurking among the matted plants.

However, the size of the garden and house offers the promise of becoming a family retreat – if you can stomach it.

The property will be sold at auction at Fulwood auction house next week, from June 11 to 12.
