‘Three families devastated…’: PM Modi attacks Cong-PDP-NC in J&K’ Doda ahead of state Assembly elections | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, National conference and PDP and accused the ‘three political families’ of Jammu and Kashmir of destroying the state through their Dynastic politics.
Addressing a rally in Doda, J&K, Prime Minister Modi said, “This time the elections in Jammu and Kashmir are between three families and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. One family belongs to the Congress, one family to the National Conference and one family to the PDP… What these three families have done to you in Jammu and Kashmir is nothing short of a sin.”
“Till now, ‘Pariwarwad’ did not allow the youth to come forward and that is why after coming to power in 2014, I tried to bring the new leadership of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2018, Panchayat elections were held here. In 2019, BDC elections were held and in 2020, DDC elections were held for the first time. Why were these elections held? So that democracy would reach the grassroots level in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi also alleged that the ‘dynastic parties’ left no space for new leadership and were making the state ‘hollow from within’
“After Independence, Jammu and Kashmir became the target of foreign powers and dynastic politics hollowed out this beautiful region from within. The political dynasties projected their children and did not allow new leadership to emerge,” PM Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi also slammed former minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s recent admission that he was afraid of militants when he visited Lal Chowk in Jammu and Kashmir during his tenure as Home Minister under the UPA-II regime.
Prime Minister Modi said, “Remember when an unofficial curfew was imposed as soon as the sun set?”
“The situation was such that even the Home Minister of the Congress-led central government was afraid to go to Lal Chowk,” he added.
These are the first state assembly elections in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. There are a total of 90 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, of which 7 seats are reserved for SCs and 9 seats for STs.
According to the Election Commission of India, Jammu and Kashmir has 88.06 lakh eligible voters.
In the previous Elections for the state assemblyThe People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won 28 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got 25, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) won 15 and the Congress won 12.
