Tim Robards has confirmed he will return to Neighbors for his star-studded final.

The long-running Australian soap is being discontinued after being on the air for 37 years after UK broadcasting partner Channel 5 said it would no longer fund production.

The former bachelor, 39, revealed on Hit100.9’s Dan & Christie he jumped at the chance to come back, as he felt his character never really shut down.

Tim played Pierce Greyson in the soap for two years starting in 2018.

His role was set to run until 2020 but was cut short as his wife, Anna Heinrich, became pregnant with their first child and he struggled with the weekly commute from his home in Sydney to Melbourne, where Neighbors is filmed.

The chiropractor told the radio show, “It was like a fracture and no closure.

“It was nice to be back and have some closure and see everyone again, say goodbye and finish that character that I never got to do.”

Tim also shared details of what it was like to kiss his co-star Christie Hayes, who played Pierce’s love interest, Ebony Buttrose.

He revealed: ‘Christie would always say, ‘I’m sorry I just ate a curry’, or something, you know, constantly apologizing for how bad her breath would be!

“It was never that bad.”

Speaking about his acting career in March, Tim said he would leave soap operas behind and focus on finding success in Hollywood.

“I’d like to be James Bond. I also love everything Christian Bale does,” he told The Sunday Telegraph’s Stellar magazine

“Neighbours is a soap opera, so it’s a certain format. Everyone is bigger than life, so it’s not necessarily the most realistic acting and storylines, so I’m really looking forward to doing things where I can bring it down a bit, and it’s not that soapy.”

A handful of stars of yesteryear return for the Neighbors final, including Olympia Valance (Paige Smith), Kylie Minogue (Charlene Mitchell) and Jason Donovan (Scott Robinson).
