‘Time to let dad decide,’ people say as mom goes viral for her kids’ unique names
A WOMAN has come under fire for the unique names she chose for her children.
The family went viral online after sharing their children’s nicknames, with people saying they looked like dog names.
In her viral videoTikTok user Aubree Jones (@watoveraub) revealed the names of her six children.
She explained that she had decided what to name their five daughters and son.
Aubree said people often ask both her and her husband, “Who chose your children’s names?”
She acknowledged that most people view her choices as “weird.”
“If you think their names are weird now, take a look at what was rejected,” she joked in the clip’s caption.
Each of her children appeared in the video and introduced themselves to the viewers.
The couple’s eldest daughter is called Trendy, followed by Zaylee, Sunny, Truly and Journey.
Their son turned out to be named Rocky, another choice of Aubree.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the unique nicknames in the comments section.
“I think it’s time to let daddy decide,” one viewer joked.
“If you have another child, let daddy name him,” another follower agreed.
“My mom picked out dog names,” a third person commented.
“Dogs have human names these days and kids just have random words for names,” said another TikTok user.
“Thanks for the dog name ideas,” one commenter joked.
“My mother didn’t choose names, she chose words,” another viewer wrote.
Are Unique Baby Names Worth the Hassle?
YOU may think that having a unique name helps you stand out, but is that all it is?
Fabulous’s deputy editor Josie Griffiths reveals the turmoil she faced growing up with her own name.
When I was a kid, all I wanted was one of those personalized keychains with my name on it.
But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not great for a little girl) and Joanne.
Josie is short for Josephine, a French name, and I managed to reach my twenties without ever meeting anyone who shared that name.
When I try to introduce myself to people I hear all kinds of random things like Tracey and Stacey, which can be quite annoying.
Although I’ve come into contact with a few Josies in the past year – there seem to be a few around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends.
Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or weirdly spelled.
And it means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just calling myself Josie.
I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname as it’s not considered cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not as attached to Griffiths as I used to say ‘hello , with Josie’ when I called a friend.
I like to be unique and I will definitely try to replicate this when naming my own children.
It’s the crude names you have to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I’m definitely going to avoid them.
“Really, this was a Rocky Journey,” one follower joked.
“Imagine if they are older and have to say their name during job interviews,” another person wrote.
“Is [the] mom’s name ‘Random Words Generator?'” one TikTok user asked.
“My son’s name is Rocky too! (He’s a German Shepherd),” said another viewer.
“Trendy is so bad I’m shocked. It’s my most hated,” one person commented.
