‘TMC men routinely beat women in public’: BJP shares another video of woman being assaulted in Bengal | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday shared a video a woman who reportedly destroyed by a close associate of TMC MLA Madan Mitra and “his gang.”
BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya said in his X-post sharing the video, “Jayanta Singh, an associate of TMC MLA Madan Mitra, and his gang routinely thrash women in public. Recently they lynched a woman and her daughter in Ariadaha, part of Kamarhati Municipality, Dum Dum.”

Malviya criticized the TMC government and said, “TMC men usually target women, who rebuff their advances… Perhaps Mamata Banerjee can explain why her confidante Madan Mitra’s men attack women with such impunity.”
The BJP said the flogging of Meherun Nesha in Chopra, West Bengal, was not an isolated incident. It said there was a pattern of instant justice by Mamata Banerjee’s men. Malviya shared another 13-second video of TMC members assaulting a girl in their ‘Insaf Sabha’ in Taltala Cub in Kamarhati Assembly. The incident reportedly took place six months ago in Dum Dum, a part of Greater Kolkata.
Malviya called on the National Commission for Women (NCW) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to address the lawlessness in Bengal, rising crimes against women and alleged breakdown of the constitutional framework.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has not yet responded to these allegations.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women condemned the incident and “urged a fair and time-bound investigation.” NCW said in its X notice, “The National Commission for Women has come across a video shared by Ms Trupti Garg on ‘X’, in which a woman is brutally attacked by men allegedly from TMC in West Bengal. The commission strongly condemns this incident and urges a fair and time-bound investigation. The victim should be provided free medical treatment.”

“The provisions should be invoked in the FIR and all the accused should be arrested immediately. A detailed action report has been sought by the NCW chairman from the state DGP within 3 days,” NCW added.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala also took to X and criticised TMC. He said that “TMC stands for Talibani Mujhe Chahiye.”
Poonawala hit out at the INDIA bloc and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for not responding to Sandeshkhali, Chopra and other such incidents: “Will leader of hypocrisy Rahul Gandhi say a word or come to visit? What about the INDI alliance netas? (Sandeshkhali – silent, Chopra – silent, post-poll rapes – silent, Mahua Moitra tweet – silent, Swati Maliwal – silent.) TMC leaders have confirmed the video themselves.. their defence is that it is few weeks/months old! Is that even a defence? It means TMC as usual has suppressed the video using threats,” he said
