TOI Dialogues: Patanjali scientists explore turmeric from Uttarakhand to fight Mpox, says Acharya Balakrishna | India News – Times of India
The second edition of TOI dialoguesThe Times of India’s flagship event took place in Dehradun on Tuesday and focused on Uttarakhandsocio-economic development, growth of entrepreneurship, sporting achievements and progress in infrastructure.
In his special address, Acharya Balakrishna spoke about the unique qualities of the state and said, “Uttarakhand, the land of gods, saints and pilgrims, is a place where nature and spirituality blend in harmony. It is home to many sacred rivers, including the revered Ganges, which flows freely through our land.” He also highlighted the natural beauty of the state, forests and the simplicity of the people, which contribute to the characteristic charm of the region.
Balakrishna emphasized the role of Patanjali in promoting well-being, saying: “For those who seek prosperity, peace and enlightenment, the Himalaya peaks of Uttarakhand offer just that experience. Patanjali has worked to bring the same sense of well-being to people across the country.”
He also praised Uttarakhand as the birthplace of yoga and a land of untapped potential, saying, “Uttarakhand is also the birthplace of yoga, a gift to the world, and this state is full of endless possibilities – more than we can even imagine.” He added that Patanjali plays a major role in generating employment opportunities in the region.
Balakrishna touched on the healthcare front and mentioned Patanjali’s research efforts on the Mpox virus. He noted that their team of over 100 scientists is studying the virus using medicinal herbs.
He said, “I tell you the truth, just as Tulsi and Giloy helped during the Covid-19 pandemic, turmeric from Uttarakhand, known for its healing properties in golden milk, and Ashwagandhaprove effective in the fight against Mpox.”
He expressed confidence that with these efforts, Uttarakhand will continue to play a leading role in national health and welfare initiatives.
