Primark drops trendy cowgirl dupes for £2.3k YSL purchase and £2.2k Gucci saddle bag
In case you didn’t know, the cowgirl trend is back.
Led by the proud “horse girl” Bella Hadid and anchored in the mainstream by Beyoncé’s Cowboy driver era, everyone wants western boots and a saddle bag.
However, you don’t have to pay designer prices to get in on the style.
Of course it would be nice to own the Gucci Horsebit 1955 Mini Rounded Bag.
But at £2,290 each, it’s probably a distant dream for most of us.
Luckily, Primark has come to the rescue with their brand new collection of cowgirl bags.
The new light and dark brown beige saddlebags are very similar in style to Gucci’s luxury items.
Like the Italian fashion house’s bags, they come with a metal clasp and a shoulder strap, all for the cool price of £12.
One suede design, in chestnut or chocolate brown, is compared to the Yves Saint Laurent Le 5 À 7 Supple Large in suede.
Primark hasn’t revealed the price of the shoulder bag yet, but we can guarantee it’ll be considerably less than the £2,300 that YSL is selling for.
The fast fashion brand joked that the new bags allow you to “let the cowgirl trend be your entire personality.”
One bargain hunter, who calls herself Miss Penny Pincher, said on Instagram that she “loves the bags.”
If you want to take your rodeo outfit to the next level, you can team one of the bags with Primark’s £14 cowboy boots.
The popular Faux Leather Cowboy Boots are available in black, silver and beige.
“Cowboy boots are more than just a trend item,” say Primark bosses.
“If you haven’t tried this timeless boot style yet, these faux leather beauties might just make you say ‘yee-haw!’
Why is Primark the place to go for bargains?
HOW does Primark do it? Keep delivering on-trend items at such unbelievable prices? According to bosses, it comes down to four things.
- They “sell a lot of items” – Thanks to them they can save by buying in bulk for their 191 UK stores
- They “do very little advertising”
- Although their clothes represent the “latest trends”, “they do not use expensive hangers, tags or labels”.
- And finally, they try to be “as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores.” This includes things like “asking suppliers to package our t-shirts so they can go straight on the shelves.”

These calf-length western boots feature drawstrings, a pointed toe, a slanted heel and flame embroidery on the shaft.
Pair with a long denim skirt and a white tank top for a chic farmhouse look.
“Or opt for denim shorts and an oversized blazer to show them off in style.”
Other cowgirl pieces include the Diamanté Fringe Cowboy Hat in white or baby pink for £12, plus a selection of chunky and disc belts.
