TPEM has partnered with RSA to promote solar electric vehicle charging

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rajasthan Solar Association (RSA), to encourage the use of solar energy for electric vehicle charging in Rajasthan.
The Government of India is promoting solar roofs through Prime Minister Surya Ghar Yojana. Through this, India has operated 4 lakh solar installations and counting.
The growth of electric vehicles (EVs) and solar energy in India is encouraging the Indian public to drive with zero emissions and no associated fuel costs.

Rajasthan ranks second in India in terms of installation capacity as it has a lot of solar energy. The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur, is one of India’s cities with the highest rate of EV adoption

Use of solar energy

This partnership between TPEM and RSA will promote electric mobility as well as solar energy penetration in Rajasthan, which in turn will help reduce carbon emissions and advance the state’s sustainability commitment.

Customers who install a solar energy system at their company or home will receive an additional discount on the purchase of a Tata EV. The association will also promote the benefits of TPEM’s electric car nationwide.

Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles highlights the benefits of combining solar energy and electric vehicles. He added that more than 90 percent of EV owners charge their vehicles at home and nearly 30 percent use rooftop solar to charge at home. “By taking advantage of this combination, electric vehicle owners can effectively eliminate fuel costs and enjoy free mobility. This MoU with the Rajasthan Solar Association is a crucial step forward towards increasing the number of rooftop solar installations and sales of electric vehicles.” he said in a statement.
