Traffic on the Eastern Freeway, CityLink and Punt Road is delayed in Melbourne as anti-climate change protesters block cars
A group of climate change protesters caused traffic chaos for thousands of commuters in Melbourne this morning after closing a major road.
A group of about 30 protesters remain stationed on the CityLink overpass, holding up flags and large banners.
The protesters, who appear to be mainly middle-aged, have blocked several lanes, causing significant traffic delays of at least 20 to 30 minutes for anyone traveling from the St Kilda area towards the Eastern Freeway.
Punt Road, one of the city’s main thoroughfares, is congested with traffic and some irate commuters get out of their cars to confront the protesters.
“I understand the importance of the message, but there has to be better ways to protest without making people angry,” one irritated driver told 7News.
